I never understood why people put the trigger warnings in the tags like. It's at the bottom of the post?? "Oh no, I've seen something that really messes up my mental health at least there's something to warn me AT THE BOTTOM OF THE THING" I don't understand

If I had a nickel for every time I had a close camp friend come out as genderfluid then later come out as a trans man I’d have two nickels which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened to both other people in my friend group

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: one of the only few bad things about Tolkien's legendarium is that it makes 90% of all other fantasy worlds look either completely or somewhat mediocre in comparison.
Like, what do you mean you don't have a fictional language for your fantasy world? WEAKLINGS

I've got this theory (really tentative hypothesis but anyway) that about half of the human population gets mentally stuck at where they were between 16 and 24. They end up believing things about the world, especially the bad things, are the same as they were then. Hence so many people of my own generation, X, believing violent crime is through the roof. When we were young adults, it was. (And it fucking sucked, though we got some pretty great music out of it.) And those boomers who act like it's still the 70s -- one memorable example I saw being some guy calling a group of liberals hippies who spent all their time smoking pot.
People like this also have a tendency to glorify "the old days" while still thinking all the bad shit about them is still here. Very glass half empty, except the things they believe are in the glass aren't any more. There's new stuff in there. It might even be a whole new glass.

Silly Game Time: If you had to master one kind of melee weapon from any point throughout history and any region of the world, which would you choose?
Try to be as specific as possible with your weapon. For example, not just "sword", but a type of sword like a claymore or a katana or a rapier. Options include a kind of sword, polearm (like a staff or spear or halberd), axe, club (like a mace or hammer or cudgel), knife, flail (like a whip or nunchaku), or something unusual and unexpected (like a cane or sickles or fans even garden or cooking tools, etc.).
Throwing knives
If I don’t have knives on me I can at least throw small long objects with accuracy, very useful
Like don’t feel safe just cause you confiscated my throwing knives, I have a fork in my hand rn and it’ll hurt plenty.

"God never gives you more than you can handle" is survivorship bias. People who got more than they could handle are dead.

Silly Game Time: In honor of the 500th SGT, I'm bringing back what is my favorite question ...Pick a story you really enjoy (a movie, show, book, game, or etc.) and summarize it in *one* sentence. The more absurd-sounding the sentence is, the better!
(For Example, Final Fantasy XV could be, "Bachelor party roadtrip ruined by having to deal with foreign invasion, but significantly improved by homoerotic hijinks and also lots of fishing.")
Homoerotic cave poetry club

series of unfortunate events really said: sometimes adults are wrong. sometimes they do not have your best interests at heart. sometimes the authority figures you’ve been told to trust are evil, and sometimes they’re just plain idiotic. often, they won’t listen to you, even when you are right. they will misinterpret things you say and belittle your interests and then expect you to take it lying down. sometimes you will know better than they do and there will be very little you can do to change their mind. despite all this, there is good in the world and it will be okay. being young does not mean you are worthless.

Silly Game Time: Would you rather have a third eye in the middle of your forehead OR a second pair of ears right below your current pair?

Much as different birds have different names for their flocks, such as a gaggle of geese or a murmuration of starlings, the size of the grouping also has unique adjectives. A murder of crows can range from first to third degree, and a groping of tits can be gentle or ravenous depending on how many tits, titmice or chickadees are present.
