his rambling didn't even register, whether from the fact that Betty was entirely used to it at this point or because she had her own pressing matters to attend to. & she had planned this out in her head, what she would do if the circumstance ever appeared. so many cute ideas from Pinterest, ways to tell her husband that they were going to have a baby. but it all seemed so far away with the test gripped now in her hand tightly.

❝babe...❞ she didn't realize her hand was shaking as Jughead held them tightly between his own, her fingers prying at his slowly until they were free. that hand went to rest without thinking on her stomach even though there obviously wasn't anything to feel just yet. ❝I'm having a baby...we're having a baby.❞ the announcement was accompanied by a gasp as if saying the words out loud made it suddenly true. leaning her body back into his Betty could feel a small smile on her lips despite the anxiety that was now rushing through her. ❝we're going to be parents.❞

Jughead was sleeping peacefully, unaware of the internal crisis that Betty currently had in their bathroom. Since they started living together, piecing together a new life, he had found himself sleeping better, having dreams that were of the future and not the misfortunes of the past. Spending his days with her was a privilege and he valued every second.

Jughead was a light sleeper or at least he used to be. The first time he didn’t hear her, he registered her voice the second, realizing that there was an empty space next to him and her warmth was no longer present. He yawned, his eyes attacked by the light that was coming from the bathroom as he got out of bed, looking as if he was practicing his walk for a Thriller remake.  “ Betts?” his voice was laced with sleep, hair messy but he finally ended up in the bathroom with her.

With narrowed eyes, he tried to look for any signs of discomfort on her face or tears, for he couldn’t think of a possible reason why she invited him here. “ Are you okay, baby?” he questioned as he took her hands in his. “ Or is that simply some sort of a new ritual? Did you read the 5am club? Because I can guarantee you that’s complete bullshit. Our lives won’t get better if we wake up at 5am. Sleep is essential.”

to be completely honest Betty was somewhat jealous of the tight knit group of friends & the way that their thinking seemed to align without seemingly any effort at all. not that she would ever let those thoughts leave her own head. ❝a masquerade? somewhat cliche, but I can most definitely see the appeal.❞ taking a few steps closer to Alex she let her fingers trail over his shoulder. she'd be lying if she said the secrecy of the duo wasn't part of the appeal & to imagine practically putting it on display with no one the wiser? it made her feel a certain kind of way. ❝whatever we want, hmm? careful, babe, that's giving us a lot of freedom.❞

“Baby girl, New Year’s Eve and Halloween are my main events of the year. I spend all year planning with June and Nora what the party theme will be.” There’s a hint of smirk on his lips because he knows exactly where she’s going with this. “The girls wanted a masquerade this year. We weren’t going to invite you because well you’re competition and all but I could make an exception in the guest list and quietly add you. Think about it, B, this would mean we can do whatever the fuck we want.”
