It’s hard to see her like this. Perie doesn’t think she’s ever seen Tia so upset. Her heart breaks for her sister. She wasn’t upset with her or even really disappointed in her. She just was worried. “I think… it’s okay to not know for now. Sometimes when stuff like this happens you need to take a step back, take time to learn those things about yourself. And… and maybe things will get better and you and all of them will be okay or…” Perie feels her hands chilling. She doesn’t know what to do or how to be supportive in a situation like this. This is all so much more than she’s used to. “I… I don’t know tiara. I’m sorry you’re going through all of this and I wish I could do more to help you through it.”
"I guess all the rumors are true."
Tiara nodded her head, being unable to look her twin in the eye. She should have went to Perie sooner, she knew that, she just...didn’t want to show her twin that she was an absolute fuck-up. Despite the time that has passed everything still felt so new and so raw and all she wanted to do was crawl into a hole and never ever come out. She knew Perie could help ease that pain and even so she still wanted to run. She still felt like she had to run. “I don’t know what else to do,” she said, her breath hitching a bit as she choked on a sob. “I don’t know where to go or who to be and I just can’t...things won’t ever be the same anymore and I don’t know how to let go...What do I do, Per? I don’t know what to do.” @periewynkle

"So where we gonna go?" -Cubby
"Um... Anywhere, honestly," Perie says with a small laugh. "You know most of the places I like are pretty boring. Like the museum and book store." She at least feels like that hanging out with Cubby and all of the other friends she's made through Tiara. That her hobbies and places of interest aren't all that interesting. But she wanted to get along with Cubby. "What's something you like doing? I feel like... I don't know, i don't get to hang out with you enough one-on-one. If you could go anywhere, where'd you want to go?"

“It helps,” Isabella nodded in agreement, glad that she wasn’t judging her, at least. She loved a good list. Pros and cons, to-dos, meal plans, all of them. “That’s a good one.” That was probably something she could work on, too. She was fairly social, but she could be less anxious about making new friends, for sure. “I think they can be either. I usually base them around goals that I can work towards, but there aren’t any rules.”
.
Perie nods along. “That’s fair. I feel like sometimes some people give them too many rules. And if that works for them, then that’s good, but I feel like when it’s too structured in the way of following rules, it makes you feel worse when you maybe don’t stick to it,” she shrugs. “Have you thought of any yet? Or... what are some things you hope will happen this year?”

flyhighnol:
for: perie ( @periewynkle ) location: the candy bar
there was nothing like sitting down to a basket of cheese fries and strawberry malt shake to end a crappy day, at least to nibs. that didn’t mean his night was going to end like this as he had full intentions of going to the bar after enjoying his small snack at the diner, and more importantly, also spending some time with perie. he didn’t order anything until she arrived either and somehow nolan managed to be patient while he waited for her arrival. perhaps if he hadn’t gotten there forty-five minutes earlier than the time he had given her the waitress wouldn’t have thought he was being stood up and given him a free cup of coffee while he waited, but he was thankful she had given him something to preoccupy his hands with. by the time perie got to the candy bar nolan had already built a mini house out of tooth picks and was working on a neighboring house.
before he can look up to greet perie the waitress that had been coming to check on him came up to their booth and excitedly asked if she could get anything for them. he looks up to order a large basket of cheese fries and his shake and gave the waitress a polite smile before she walked off to place their order. “she’s really nice. i think she thinks i was being stood up,” he says, looking over at perie, “i got here early. really early. i don’t know why…kind of just happened….” he reaches for his coffee cup, half gone, slightly cold by now, “anyway, thank you for coming, it’s nice to see you, perie. um. how are you doing?”
.
When she arrived, the waitress was all too happy to take their order. She ordered herself a mint chocolate shake and some fries of her own before even really sitting. As the waitress hurries off, Nolan explains and Perie gives him a small smile. “Aw, well... I’m here; didn’t mean to stand you up for so long,” she laughs a little. “Why did you get here so early?” she’s almost surprised. “You could’ve texted me and told me, I would’ve come a little earlier too.” She feels a little bad that he had to sit here for so long. And that he waited so long to order, too. “Of course; anytime. Thanks for, um, wanting to hang out,” she smiles, shrugging a little. She’s still a little awkward around Nolan and the other boys in that group. She’s getting to know them better though, and getting better about it. “It’s nice to see you too. I’m pretty good, nothing really to complain about. What about you? How have you been?”

“I know it’s silly, but I feel like I need to make a list,” Isabella admitted, chewing on the end of her pen as she thought over number four. So far she had don’t worry so much (quite a task for her), say yes more and create something beautiful. She knew that people could change all throughout the year, and a new one wasn’t an excuse to do better, but if she was being honest, she just liked the organization. “Do you have any resolutions?”
@periewynkle
“I don’t think it’s silly,” Perie says. “I know that writing things down definitely helps me. I’m more of a visual learner. And remember-er, I guess.” she sketches a few more lines in her sketchbook. “I haven’t really thought of too many. Uh... I guess I could try to be more outgoing? That’s something I need to work on. Is that what resolutions are supposed to be? Things you want to work on about yourself, or are they like... bucket list things? Or both?”

rosiegardein:

“oh my lord, i’m so sorry i made it here just a bit later than anticipated, i hope i didn’t keep you waitin’ for long!” she muses out loud, smoothing down her skirt as she finally sits down in front of the other, offering a quick, warm smile, and holding out her hands for perie to take into her own. finding out the tia had a twin was a new and surprising thing, not only for her dear friend but everyone in the group, it had felt like, but rosie was just so excited to have a new friend added into the fold…even if said fold had come with it’s set of rumors and secrets. she had made it her mission to check up on them all and see if there was anything that she could do for them, wanting to put more of her energy towards her friendships this new year since her love life was clearly not going anywhere as of right now, and if the other was a newer addition to the group, she was still in it, and the current things flitting around involved her own sister, that definitely must take it’s toll. once she’s fully settled, she lets out a soft sigh and offers another warm smile. “hi, lovebug. how’ve ya been? i absolutely love that top on you! you think we should all go on a shopping trip sometime? just us girls? oh, i think that would be just wonderful!” she momentarily gets distracted by the thought.
.
One thing that she really got out of this whole ‘having a long lost twin’ thing that Tiara didn’t necessarily was meeting a bunch of new friends. Perie was always pretty isolated when she was growing up and it really wasn’t until she and Tiara met and started hanging around each other that Perie opened up enough to make friends. And it wasn’t too hard when her sister came with a bunch of friends that were more than happy to welcome her into their circle. There were still times though that she felt more like she was just a tag along in the group. Until moments like this happened, where she and one of them would hang out on their own, without Tiara. It made it feel more like she was actually their friends and not just.. their friend’s sister. She loved hanging out with all of them, but it was always fun hanging out with Rosie. She had an energy that Perie wasn’t used to, but absolutely loved. “Oh, it’s alright!” Perie responds as her friend sits down. “I was probably a little early, so you have nothing to worry about,” she smiles in return. Rosie holds out her hands to Perie and she takes them, only hesitating for a second because that’s what she was always used to doing since her hands were always so cold and if people mentioned it, they usually only got colder. But Rosie knows about magic--about being magic-- so it doesn’t feel as intimidating to have physical contact. “I’ve been alright. Kinda sad the holidays are over, but, it’s a new year, so that’s exciting.” She smiles more. “Oh, thank you! Your whole outfit is just amazing. But then again, your outfits are always amazing. That would be so fun, I would love to!” She also gets distracted by the thought of that. How fun would a shopping trip with Rosie be? She couldn’t think of a better person to go shopping with, honestly. “How are you? How have you been?”

“Do you think it’ll snow a lot this year?” she asked with a soft smile. If there was one thing Michelle was super fascinated by, it was how water froze. And watching something she was so closely bonded with, become something completely different that she had no control over - captured her every fiber. “Water droplets are all the same, but when you freeze them, snow flakes are always their own, none just the same.. it’s magical really. Don’t you think?” @periewynkle
.
Perie smiles at the question. “Oh, I hope so. I love when it does,” she says, feeling the cool breeze of an ending fall pierce through her sweater. “Yeah. They’re all so different and unique. Little, impermanent works of art. And to think, it’s just how they are. It’s not meant to awe or impress anyone, but how could it not?” she smiles again, looking over at Michelle. Her fingertips feel cold but not in a bad way, not like she’s about to lose control. It’s one of the first times recently it’s felt comforting to feel that. “I definitely think it’s magical.”

"I saw flecks of what could've been lights." - Isabella
"Whoa," she breathes, unsure of what to say for a moment. "That's... kind of how I found out about mine, too. I... I remember seeing snowflakes falling from my ceiling. And while it wasn't something I could've expected or something that made sense to what I knew up until that point, but it was calming. It felt... right." Perie's stomach flutters, and she feels a warmth she's not used to. "It's... It's nice to talk to someone who gets it, who has magic. I mean, sure, there's Tiara, but it's nice to know others, too."

Perie didn’t hate the bonfire. It was nice—a nice send off to summer. She didn’t really hang out with too many people, but she did mill about, enjoyed the fire and the ocean. It was nice. She didn’t know about all that went down with her sister. She’d heard whispers about some gossip post, but Perie wasn’t much into reading those. Especially not if they were spreading rumors about those close to her. She didn’t want to feed into that. She didn’t want to look at someone she cared for any differently based on something that could be made up.
When she was out getting herself a hot chocolate to start the day, Perie was surprised to see Wendy. She smiled at the other and walked up when she waved her over. “Did you have a rough night?” Perie asks, tilting her head. “And it’s alright, I was doing my best to avoid the crowded areas, so I wasn’t too close to where they were performing.” She stands awkwardly for a moment before taking a seat. “I heard some people mentioning something about… I don’t even know what, really. Something with my sister? Is that… What happened?”
closed starter for @periewynkle
Things hadn’t gone great with Tiara at the bonfire, that was for sure. What Wendy didn’t know was if her sister knew anything about what had been said between the two, but she had to have seen the stupid post that had started it all. It was more embarrassing than anything, knowing now that Peter had been lying to her this whole time and everyone else seemed to know, that she was publicly put into a love triangle that didn’t contain much love at all. In fact, it was more of a messy polygon than a love triangle. Still, she couldn’t hold any of it against Perie, not when she had nothing to do with any of it besides being peripherally involved. So, when she’d gone to get her tea the morning after the bonfire, she didn’t shy away from Tiara’s sister, but instead waved a hand in what she hoped looked like a friendly enough greeting. “I don’t know about you, but I definitely need this after last night,” she said with a laugh, picking up her drink from the counter. “I’m sorry I didn’t get to see you last night, I was busy ….” going off who knows where with Peter. “The boys needed some help getting set up for their set.”

Perie was so excited it was finally turning to fall. No more hot weather, no more looking strange as she sat around in big fluffy sweaters. Not to mention, Halloween. She wasn’t always that big on Halloween growing up. Sure, her grandmother would hand out candy and Perie would put on some generic, knock off character costume, but she didn’t really go trick or treating. She would mostly just hang out at home. She thinks now it’s because her grandmother worried she would get too excited and her powers would show. But she’s so in control now—well, more in control now. She’s getting there. And besides, most people her age would go out to Halloween parties and do all sorts of fun stuff like that, and Perie wanted to be a part of it.
As she walks through the store, looking for the halloween items, trying to see what she could find as far as decorations and costume pieces, Perie hears a familiar voice that pulls her away from the fake—and incredibly inaccurate—skeleton of a raven. She turns quickly, pushing her hair back over her shoulder. “Oh, hi, Willow,” she says quickly. It had been a bit since she’d seen her. Since their painting date hang out. She’d seen her in class and they’d chatted a bit there, but it was something about seeing her in this setting that made her heart flutter. “Um, oh,” she looks at the candies. What could she recommend that seemed cool? “Well, I like the chocolate ones. Like… kit-kats and milky ways.” She tries to be helpful. “But, um, any mix should be good. I just wouldn’t go for anything too off-brand. That’s when people get unhappy.” She hesitates for a moment, shifting on her feet. “It kind of surprises me that you didn’t really do halloween. I just… it seems like something you’d like.” Perie then quickly backtracks, “I just mean… Like, that’s a good thing, I mean. It’s got all that fun and weird stuff going on and I just…” Perie feels her fingertips grow cold the more she rambles. “I’m… none of this sounds great, does it…”

The countdown was officially on for the holiday - thirty-four days until the big night. Everyone seemed to be gearing up for it, having started pretty much at the beginning of the month, talk of decorations and costumes and candy the hot topic of each conversation Willow overheard and took part in. Though she’d been wrapped up in her studies - autumn brought in cool weather, but it also brought around first semester finals - even she couldn’t help but think of what she might dress up as, weather she would stay home to pass out candy or find somewhere to go for the night, and if she wanted to do things like carve pumpkins or decorate the manor. On one of her rare days off from everything - the library hadn’t scheduled her, school was out early for the day, her grandmother didn’t need her for errands, and she was completely caught up on her reading - she found herself at the grocery store, perusing the orange and black-themed aisles, getting ideas and looking for something sweet to take home.
Bags and bags of candy lined the shelves, and she stopped to take a look, curious and yet a little overwhelmed. Branded sweets like this weren’t a big thing in her house growing up, and now there were so many to choose from. So, catching sight of a familiar face, she smiled, waved them over. “ Hey ! C’mere really quick ? ” Maybe it was a little silly, asking for opinions on candy, but Animania felt as big as it did small sometimes, and if anything, this would be a good little bonding moment for them. “ I’m trying to figure out something to take home, but I don’t really know what. ” Baby blues turned from them to the candy before the two of them. “ I didn’t do candy a lot as a kid, t’ be honest. Or Halloween, really. ” At least, not in the traditional sense. “ So I’m a little lost, I guess, ” she continued, just a tad embarrassed by the fact, but pushing on. “ Any suggestions ? ” Her smile was hopeful, sweet.

dil was making their way through the chairs set up at the library, trying to find this specific section on werewolves, it being what held his hyper focus at the moment when one of the nearer tables to the shelves caught his attention, noticing a drawing out in the open of a sketch that– he jumped, suddenly caught, eyes wide as he turned to face the other who was probably just using the bathroom momentarily, now looking at him expectantly. “yo, made it out safe, amarite?” he snorts, trying to act casual as he strikes a pose, quickly tipping over and sitting up right once again. “i’m good!”
.
Perie was surprised to see someone looking at the table she had been at. She’d only been up for a minute. For a moment as she heads back and sees them acting a little strangely at the table, almost falling over, she’s confused. But as she realizes she’d left her sketchbook open, she flushes a little. “Oh, um... yeah. Good, you’re... good.” she walks back to her spot and realizes she had left it open on a page with a sketch that just--totally coincidentally, definitely not on purpose-- happened to look a little bit like Willow, Perie’s eyes widen and she slams the book shut. “Ha, um, hi... did you need the table? I can definitely let you have the table,” she rushes as her cheeks turn pink and she can feel the tips of her fingers turn cold.

w-vanderquack:
As she nodded, she began setting up next to Perie, deciding to continue on about the weather and seasons. It was the easiest subject to talk about, the universal ice breaker that everyone had at least one opinion on. “ I cannot wait for the snow ! ” she told her excitedly. “ I love getting to wear mittens and those big poofy jackets. It makes me feel like a little kid. ” All of her wintertime memories included her grandmother, Scrooge, and his personal driver - the snowmen, the hot chocolate, the one and only snowball fight. Those were some core memories of her’s. “ At my house, we usually celebrate Christmas and Hanukkah during the winter months - one of the guys that work at the house is Jewish - and it gets a little crazy, but it’s really nice. It really makes everything feel more homey, ” she explained, unfolding the little easel and setting the canvas on the stand. Inside, Willow was trying not to keep her stomach from doing cartwheels. The moving around helped, thinking about the weather and the holidays coming up helped, but nothing could quite get her mind off of the girl next to her. They were going to make something together. They were going to share a nice moment together, side-by-side, on a cute blanket and surrounded by pretty scenery. The more she thought about that, the more she wanted to call it a date. She liked Perie so much, liked how her voice sounded and how she smiled, and it was odd how that all combined with her other emotions.
The question easily brought her back to the moment at hand, making her laugh. “ No, no, that’s cute ! Not cheesy at all. I totally get what you mean, ” the blonde insisted, catching a stray blonde curl and tucking it behind her ear. “ You’re totally okay to ramble. I like hearing you talk. ” A beat. Then two. She knew what she’d said the moment she said it, but she couldn’t take it back now. It wasn’t a lie, but at least it was honest. She couldn’t fight the small smile on her face when she said it, looking from her back to the canvas and the paint set she had in front of her. “ I like the idea of painting what we’re feeling. ” A single nod. “ Whatever it is - You can even paint the playground and the scenery, if that’s what you’re feeling ! ” Another little laugh. “ I’ll set the timer, and then we’ll switch. ” She pulled out her phone. “ Ten minutes. Ready ? ” She set it up, thumb hovering over the green START button. “ Go ! ” And with a tap, they were on the clock.
.
There’s a moment where Perie thinks about how easily she could make it snow for Willow right here and now in the park. But she doesn’t. She doesn’t know how Willow would react to that, and that’s... sort of an extreme measure to take for someone just saying they like something, right? But she would keep it in mind. Maybe a second date? Is this even a first date? Still so many questions she didn’t know how to answer. All of them making her stomach turn. “Yes, I love that! And comfy sweaters and hot chocolate. It’s the best time of year.” She listens as Willow talks about her family traditions around the holidays and smiles. “That sounds like so much fun. My grandmother and I always do a tree. She likes to decorate it very traditionally with like, silver garland and all that. It’s still fun though. And then we’ll make paper snowflakes and hang those all over the house.” It’s nice to talk about those sorts of traditions with her. She isn’t sure if she’s shared much about that with anyone. She hasn’t really had many friends until recently even. “It sounds lovely to grow up around so many people in a big house like that,” Perie says, smiling. Willow laughs and Perie blushes. Not because she’s embarrassed or because she thinks Willow is laughing at her, but because her laugh is so nice. It made her heart skip a beat. She busies her hands with her paint brushes to keep frost from forming on her fingertips. But it gets harder the more Willow speaks. And saying what sounded like compliments. She doesn’t even know if she’s breathing for a moment. When Willow looks away with a smile, almost like she’s realizing what she’s said, Perie turns to her canvas as well, grinning to herself, feeling the blush on her cheeks only spreads.
Perie nods along, but the thought of painting what she’s feeling? That would turn into just a big mess of colors. Like a rainbow vomited up even more rainbows. That’s a gross analogy, she thinks to herself. But what she’s feeling is confusing and scary and exciting and wonderful all at the same time. But she doesn’t have much time to think before Willow starts the timer.
Hurrying to get out the colors she’d need, Perie starts painting a scene. An icy field with a small pink flower starting to push past the snow. Was that what she was feeling? Yes. What the heck does that even mean?
“Soooo,” she starts to talk, trying to think of something to say while also focusing on her painting. “Have you ever done anything like this before?” she asks, talking about the art challenge, but after she’s said it she realizes it could be taken in different ways. But Perie decides not to specify further. Not yet. She kind of wanted to know how Willow would respond.

As she sits down at a table in the library, she realizes she recognizes the face across from her. “Oh, Wendy, hi,” she says with a smile. “It’s been a while since I’ve seen you.” They weren’t super close—she only really knew her through Tiara and Peter. But Perie was always ready to be friendly. “How are you?”

“If you like comics, you should look into really any of the Image comics. They’ve got some very interesting stories and the art is to die for,” Perie says, trying to start a conversation with someone in the comic shop, noticing the large stack he was going through. She was really just there to browse, but he looked far more into this than she was. “I’ve read a few--I own a few more as references when I’m trying to sketch poses. But... yeah, they’re good. If you haven’t checked them out.” He probably has and she just sounds dumb, she doesn’t know. She feels herself getting a little overwhelmed by the conversation, as she often did once she started to ramble.
