Of course Shuichi had feelings for Jodie, they were in a relationship after all! I wouldn’t agree he’s a cold personality though. Look, when Shuichi fell in love with Akemi it was for a job. He’d to somehow infiltrate the Black Organization, so he took the (maybe) for him easiest way and started dating Akemi for that matter. When he broke off with Jodie he didn’t say “I love Akemi”, but “To be able to love two women at the same time… it’s not that handy a personality.” This wasn’t an act of coldheartedness if you ask me, but a mere respectful demeanor. Sure it hurt Jodie, but he could’ve hurt her even more by not breaking up with her, nether being there for her and telling another woman that he loves her (and maybe more).

Look at his face. I really hope it’s not just me, but he doesn’t look exactly pleased about ending their relationship. At least he doesn’t look like he doesn’t give a damn. He respects Jodie and her feelings towards him. He doesn’t make her false hope or even plays with her feelings; he’s just honest. Shuichi has balls! Hehe

There are a lot of other scenes where he shows concern about Jodie as well! Remember the case with the red shirts in the mall? He not only left her the note on the coaster, he also saved her from Chianti and Korn who might have just shot her when she’d run outside the building.

Shuichi knows exactly how much he means to her. Jodie shouted to Scar Akai that the BO is gonna kill him if he leaves the building. Plus she screamed his name several times so Shuichi has to notice that. He helps her as much as he can without giving up on his disguise.

It might seem a bit subtle but Shuichi, actually, still cares a lot about Jodie anyway. Do you read the manga? Whether or not you should (re-)read the chapters of the Clash of Red and Black. The panel below is from chapter 606 - Friday the 13th. 

It’s just beautiful how he calls her by her name in that episode (501) *flies to heaven* Anyways. I think it’s rather cute that he addresses her personally and tells her about his presentiment of danger; whether it has something to do with their case in general or that she might get hurt/get into more trouble.

I also remember the case before with Kir, when Jodie offered to drive. As much as I remember Shuichi disagreed and told Camel to knock Jodie out so she wouldn’t drive the car. Of course he teases her afterwards, saying she’s bad driving skills, though we all know better. She’s an excellent driver, plus every FBI agent has to go through a certain driving school (as much as I remember of certain documentations; I honestly watched a lot, though I doubt Gosho is close to reality there…) Anywaaays. We all know Jodie has damn good driving skills, and so does Shuichi!

Camel is also a good driver and more than that he’d to pay Shuichi’s debt. (Remember, Camel blew Shuichi’s cover before he was able to arrest Gin and co.) Camel had a bomb with him and Kir in the car, so after Kir “knocked” him out he’d to get out of the car in time and without anyone paying attention/notice it. He could’ve died there; either through the explosion, or through the hands of the BO.

So Shuichi took Jodie’s (not so) bad driving skills as an excuse for knocking her out, and letting Camel do the job, though I rather think of it as a sign of concern and worries about her. He doesn’t want her to get killed.

Wow, I kind of totally overlooked your second message! Sorry! Though, I just wanted to make sure he’s not as cold as you might think he is.

But yes, as you say he always watches and protects her! I also think he would do a lot to save her. He would never let her take a great risk if he can prevent that.

As for the quote from the movie: YES! I love that scene so much, even through the quote from the trailer was a voice over only. I love how he smiles at her and that he promise her that she never has to shoot someone like that as long as he’s around. 

None of the movies are actually canon though, so I’m not sure about this one?
