maladaptive/immersive daydreaming ask game! (*¯︶¯*).。o○O☁️
send in a number (or multiple) and if you feel like it, an accompanying paracosm/para!
(apologies for how wordy these are. i am not a man known for my brevity)
reblog and have fun with these!
how long have you been daydreaming for? (bonus if you can remember: what was your first daydream scenario/paracosm?)
if your paracosm had a popular fandom, what do you think it'd be like?
do you have any paracosms that aren't huge, but that you fall back on when The Time Is Right™️?
WOULD YOU RATHER: have your daydreams projected onto a screen attached to your head at all times OR be entirely unable to daydream ever again for the rest of your life?
what para of yours is most like you? self inserts and paraselves don't count!
how did you come up with your paras' names? did they come to you randomly or did you spend hours researching name websites?
imagine your paras have at least a basic knowledge of driving (or even just like, cars). can they parallel park? (bonus points if you explain it like in this post)
do you do extensive worldbuilding for your paracosms? if you do, what are some of your favorite elements?
if your paras found out you were their creator, how would they react?
if you have a self insert/paraself, how similar are they to you?
is there any time of the day where you can't/don't daydream?
are your daydreams linear and structured, or do you jump all over the place?
what's a song you've been daydreaming to lately, and what's your favorite moment in said daydream?
do your paras age with you, or are their ages static? does it feel weird to be older than a para you were previously the same age as?
if you had the opportunity to leave this world and live in your paracosm forever, would you? why or why not?
(if you have multiple) which paracosm of yours is most grounded in reality? which is most fantastical?
make one of those "[blank] spoilers without context" memes for your paracosms. then explain it (or don't :))
who is your second favorite para, and why aren't they your favorite?
what would your paras' typing styles be like? do they use lots of emojis? sign off each text like a letter? type with lots of weird spaces and ellipses?
do you move a lot when daydreaming, and if so, in what ways?
have you ever wanted to make a piece of media of your paracosm (comic, animation, visual novel, novel, tv show, etc.)? what are elements that would be apart of it?
when you actively want to start daydreaming, what is your mind's process? do you tune back in like it's a tv show? flip through imaginary files? let it come naturally?
do you ever daydream about yourself (not a self insert, just you)?
do you have any two paras that are polar opposites to one another? (they don't even have to exist in the same universe, just in general)
what para would you absolutely hate in real life?
FREEBIE! drop some long-winded lore or some memes or whatever you want ^▽^
when you experience a daydream block or crash, what are things you do to try and fix it? (or ways you cope. lmao i get it)
for fictparacosms, do your daydreams affect how you perceive the media and/or the fandom?
if you ever write down things about your daydreams (truly anything at all — notes, dialogues, descriptions, etc), share a random snippet with no context.
if your paras had madd/daydreamed immersively, what would they daydream about?
for any pairings (romantic, platonic, familial, whatever), what is the dynamic between your paras like?
if you could make a bingo of common elements of your daydreams (paracosm-specific or not), what would be on some of the squares?
if you have tried to make your paras in character makers (picrew, meiker, etc), what is an aspect of your para that these makers never/rarely have?
are your daydreams clear in your mind's eye?
if you have multiple paracosms, what would it be like if they had a crossover?

[NONSENSE] Locations + Layers
TWs: HEAVY Derealization, some horror content, some overall sensitive themes.
Long ramble kinda. A lot less fancy.
Tumblr media
First of all, almost all of the locations are based primarily around liminal spaces as a whole, but there's also some other stuff mixed in there. (We're also working on a visual novel with the help of our artist partner doing some art for us).
Please however don't compare this paracosm or anything relating to it in some way backrooms related (We can have a whole rant on why the backrooms makes us angry).
Anyways now into the lore.
The first layer is the simple places, the "makers" or so you could say. This includes: The Factory, The Workshop + The Salon.
The second layer is the layer that's more focused around taking what's already been made and modifying it. This includes: The Playroom, The School, The Circus
(There's some other locations mixed in here but they haven't been properly defined yet so that's for another day.)
The third layer is where the things that have been made and modified, go to be destroyed, recycled if you will. This layer is only made up of the Wastes, which is a testament to how large the Wastes actually are. (There's also many sub-areas of the Wastes but yeah).
*Each location has a "leader" of sorts, but that's for a different post.
For some mini descriptions of the locations:
LAYER 1
The Factory
A cold and unfeeling place. A place where one can always hear the sounds of heavy machinery working away, where the endless bangs and hisses and screeches are never-ending. A thick fog surrounds most of the Factory, and comes and goes a lot like the tide. [Please do not go near the fog.] The air is ever so slightly humid, and it's recommended to keep a dehumidifier within ones rooms. [Don't mess with the mold. Seriously.]
The Salon
The first impression most people have of this place is how contrasting it is to the Factory. [Well it's still very loud.] It's bright and warm, and feels oddly comforting. There's "people" all around - though you aren't too sure you can really call them that. It's much more comfy and relaxing compared to the Factory, but you can't help shake the strange feeling that you're being watched. [Ignore the eyes. Don't look at the eyes. Don't look.]
The Workshop
Oh great. Now you're back to the machines again. It's weird. Despite operating much in the same way as the Factory, it gives off a completely different feeling. The walls feel much more closer, everything feels more close and less spacious, but not in a bad way. [The walls are closing in the walls are closing in the walls...] There's constantly the lingering sound of people working, writing things down, chatting with co-workers, but there's hardly a single person here. [Don't get caught slacking off.]
LAYER 2
The Playroom
Come play! Come play! The children cry, Come play! Come! play! You'll want to stay! They sigh. Come play! Come play! Don't go away! [Don't leave them. Stay. Stay here forever.] "Sorry my bad um... there seems to be an issue with the archive...I'll have to get that fixed later. Where were we?"
The Playroom is a wonderful place. It's bright and colourful, it's cheery and child-like. There are jungle-gyms everywhere [Some of which you think might be a safety hazard.] There are toys scattered around, there's everything that a child could want. Every section is vastly different here, but you can look around anywhere and see that everything feels so familiar. You hear children laugh. You hear children play. You hear children scream, but there really is no one to be seen. It's frighteningly empty here.
The School
It's... a never-ending school. There isn't much more to be said here. The further you walk, the more distorted and unusual things become, but at the end of the day, it's just a school. At the end of the day, the voices that you hear constantly around here aren't real. You feel like you're in school here. Memories come rushing in, both bad and good, and suddenly you have the urge to sit in the corner of the empty classroom and think. And just think. [Don't talk to him.]
The Circus.
Woo boy. This place is ... well it's a location alright. It's quiet when there's no show, and the liveliest place around when there is a performance. It's about what you'd expect. [Don't sneak behind the curtains.]
LAYER ??? (Currently deemed as "3")
The Wastes
Yeah there's no way I'm doing it justice in just this small post - this deserves it's own. It's such a vastly varying space that that's a difficult thing to do.

[NONSENSE] I - The Factory Info
TWs: Derealization, Yandere content / themes, some horror content, some overall sensitive themes. (This post in particular isn't so bad, but this whole paracosm in general is based around those themes so I'd steer clear of this one if that bothers you).
┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈
"Oh...you're interested in this section? I must say, you certainly have interesting tastes."
(*note, things aren't fully fleshed out. will they ever be? who cares).
The Factory -
In the beginning, there was only Isidore. She knew nothing about being human, nor any previous memories that were tied to such a thing. She was the very first, and only resident of this place. She spent her days full of loneliness and fear, as the monsters around threatened to consume her at every given opportunity. She lived in misery, until she found out how to operate the factory. Starting up the massive machines, she realized that she had assumed control of this place.
However, even if the monsters no longer were after her, and the fog no longer threatened to steal her mind, she still had one major problem - she was incredibly lonely. One day, she had found the door that led to the exit of the factory, and heard a voice on the other side. From the other side of the door, she had heard a young girl speak to her, and they communicated with each other for hours and hours upon end.
Although, when Isidore tried to open the door, to meet face to face with her new friend, she found that she couldn’t do so. The door just wouldn’t budge. It was only a moment later that she had heard screaming on the other side of the door, but no matter how much she called out for her friend - there was only silence.
Upon returning to the heart of the factory, she had realized that she had unknowingly made a trade. She was stuck here forever, unable to leave this area, in exchange for her having complete authority over it. It was all because she pulled that stupid lever. She was devastated by this news. She should've known better. In the heat of her sorrow, she had taken instead to slaughtering and torturing the monsters that roamed around, and although they were now docile towards her, they were not spared from her crazed fury.
Over time, she realized that she quite enjoyed watching those beings - beings who were beneath her, obviously - squirming and shrieking in agony. It made her feel better about herself, who was trapped here, and doomed to be alone.
Everything began to change when she came across an old book, records and blueprints, that described how the factory worked, and thus began her research into creating a “friend.” She had hundreds, if not thousands of attempts, trying to create something that resembled a being like her, and could communicate with her on her own level of intelligence.
She struggled and struggled, failure after failure, until she finally had an idea. What if she was to use the monsters outside - which seemed to have some sort of mind, and could feel emotions - to help her make a “friend?” She had captured many, many different monsters and stuck parts of them together, until she eventually had something that vaguely resembled her. It had its own flaws and imperfections of course - but it was something that she could call a “friend.” something that she could have a connection with, that would be able to soothe her ache for companionship.
However, like all the others, this only ended in failure. When she tried to communicate with it, it only screamed and writhed in pain. Every single moment it breathed, it hurt. She was upset of course - as it only seemed like it was just the same thing as the monsters that were outside. Beings that were only capable of feeling pain and hunger.
She guessed that maybe it would be better if it looked like her. She crafted a perfect “face” and other features for it, however as she fixed up her creation and made it more “human,” it promptly smashed its beautiful face against the ground, shattering and damaging the lower half of its face.
She sobbed and cried, and yelled and screamed, at the monster that she had created, holding it tightly in her arms. She decided to name it “Azriel.” Although it couldn’t speak properly, and always seemed like it was in pain, she would constantly try to teach it how to communicate, and eventually it was able to learn. However, although it could now speak, it didn’t resemble anything “human” at all.
She went back to her drawing board. Clearly there was something she was missing, something that was the solution to her problem. There was surely a “key” she needed to find or-
And that was when she had discovered a secret room, up at the top of the factory, hidden behind a tiny, dusty door. Inside the room was a small box on a pedestal. There were words written down on the pedestal.
The secret key to creating life is contained within the box. In order to take it, one must offer something precious - of equal value.
She knew it. Of course there was something she was missing. It was as simple as that. That’s why all of her attempts had been failing, and it wasn’t her fault. Without thinking, she grabbed the box from the pedestal, and left the room.
Inside the box was a human heart. She had no idea what it was, or how it would be useful to her, but she figured that she might as well try making a vessel for it. She made a “friend”. She thought of all the fun things they could do together when it was done, and as she placed the heart into the vessel, suddenly it spurred to life.
There was a boy standing in front of her. He smiled, and looked up to her in curiosity - having just been born into this world.
Isidore however, found that she couldn’t smile back. In fact, upon looking towards her newest creation, she realized that she didn’t feel anything towards it. It was only then that she realized that she didn’t feel anything at all. Her loneliness was still there, but she felt like she had solved nothing.
“Dantes,” the boy was named. Isidore’s “younger brother.” from the moment he was brought into this world, he faced nothing but hell. Isidore would make him play “games” with her, which usually resulted in him being hunted down by monsters, or being tortured in some odd way. However much pain Isidore caused him, he found that he could not disobey anything she said.
He was simply a puppet under her control, and she was his apathetic puppeteer, simply a tool for her to cure her boredom. Although he was hurt, he never harbored any ill-intentions for Isidore. He wished for his freedom, and to no longer be a “puppet,” but he also knew that his dreams were unrealistic and futile.
He carried out the orders Isidore gave him, no matter how dangerous or odd her requests were. She sent him out into the wastes, to collect the pieces of those who had lost their “self’ - or at least, whatever remained of them. He brought those parts back to his master, who kept trying to make more, more friends to join her “family.”
