Shot from "spook train (curtains)" a clay stop-motion, horror short film
This was the first stop-motion animation I ever watched, long before I knew what stop-motion was. It terrified me but also left a deep imprint in my consciousness, showing me that even something as simple as clay can evoke so much emotion

Photograph by/from "We Are Playgrounds" art festival in Eindhoven, Netherlands
Leaving Ukraine to study in the Netherlands opened up many possibilities for travel. Suddenly, I was able to travel across Europe for very little cost. This allowed me to discover my biggest inspiration and passion: art festivals. Connecting with people, listening to amazing icons and speakers, seeing art come to life, exploring behind the scenes, and so much more opened my eyes to a vast array in this field.

Animator's Survival Kit
This is every animator's beloved book. I stumbled upon its existence very accidentally online while searching for resources on animation. When I first illegally downloaded the PDF and started learning from it, I didn鈥檛 realize the significance of this book; I just found it as a helpful tool. It was only several months later, when I mentioned this book to my professor, that he exclaimed, "OH, yes, of course!"

Scene from 'Brother Bear' by Aaron Blaise (Disney cartoon 2003)
This scene from Brother Bear holds a lot of significance for me. On one level, the more obvious, it is incredibly well-done, with rich visuals, music, and storytelling, making it a prime example of how to create a children's cartoon that is beautiful, deep, and truly for all audiences. Additionally, this scene was animated by Aaron Blaise, a Disney animator who has been in the field long before I was even born. Like with the Animators Survival Kit, I found him accidentally and was captivated by his passion for drawing and animating animals. I hadn鈥檛 researched him for his popularity or significance; I simply found his work fascinating. It wasn鈥檛 until I attended another of my beloved art festivals and saw his name on the list of speakers. I watched in awe for two hours as he spoke about his life, career, and Disney behind the scenes.
