i originally went with a lottie/lacie idea + ancient greece theme but then i realized the statue i referenced was not actually from ancient greece (OTL) so i went with some angsty jack/oswald + flower symbolism !! the flowers are lavenders, which symbolize purity and devotion, which i thought contrasted beautifully with jack's betrayal!!!

i did a lot of experimentation with this namely in the painting department and i'm not entirely sure if i'm happy with the end result but...! i'm proud i put so much effort in at least lol

anyway i hope u like it !! this was lots of fun :> and happy holidays ofc !!!!

A bit of an explanation behind this for those interested.

This is just a plot bunny that came to me when I was thinking of an ending for my Ot3 fic. I'm still not sure how I feel about it entirely because it would be tough to write, but the prompt was easy enough to draw to bring my vision across.

So you know how Xerx made that promise to the Intention that he would destroy her? Well... what if he was capable of fulfilling that promise?

The idea is that once the ot3 gets together and establishes their love for each other, they still have to deal with Break's body giving out. And the only way to stop that would be to destroy the Intention, and if there is no Intention, there is no Mad Hatter. And since they're all down there anyway and the Abyss returns to its former glory, why not have them all stay down there and live happily ever after together?

I figured, since I have this burning headcanon that Gil, Vince and Break really don't belong to the current time-line, they wouldn't care about leaving it behind, especially if as long as they have each other, they can be happy. And if the former golden Abyss is as amazing as it was claimed to be, I like to imagine that they could just be happy there.

So anyways, to get there, they'd probably need to go through Sablier much like it happened canonically at the end, and once in the Abyss and facing off against the Intention, the dust from city could start getting mixed up in everything , and hence... In the City of Dust! ✨️

An Absurd Fairy Tale Chapter 8: "The Lovers"

This is the end of PHmonth24 for me! Thank you to everyone who took the time to read my fic.

I had a lot of fun. While I've written quite a lot on my own, I haven't really had writing deadlines since I was a student. It was neat to test my limits by giving myself strict timeframes.

Without further ado, here is Chapter 8 "The Lovers" for Fan's choice day 4: "What's the Catch?". Despite the title, it does not become a ship fic here. Sorry to disappoint. I really like @ursanic's choice of assigning The Lovers to Noise and Echo. I don't typically think of the card in a romantic sense, and "often an aspect of the querent's life will have to be sacrificed." Interestingly though, this chapter does have 3 pretty straightforward pairs...

I also manifested Jack's repeated objectification of Oz in the canon as him misgendering every Chain he encounters. It seems in character.
