Gabe Saporta Spanish Ultimate Guide (?
I've read so many different portrayals of Gabe over the years, but I've never come across one that really nails how he would actually speak spanish. I'm not saying the translations are bad, but the slang is often off. To give you an idea, it's like writing a british character but speaks with an american accent.
Uruguayan slang is super different from what I usually see when people use spanish in their dialogues, which tends to be mexican spanish. (latin american and spanish ppl dont talk like mexicans, same language? yes, but A LOT of differences). If you're curious, you can easily look in youtube and hear the difference.
So Yeah, let's get into itttt :D
If you're using a translator...
Don't even try with google translator, instead use this:
Key differences and examples !
"T煤" vs. "Vos" In common uruguayan spanish, don't use "tu" (you) or "eres" (are) Instead, use "vos" (you) and "sos" (are) Example: - Vos sos muy r谩pido / sos muy r谩pido trans: You are so fast. - Sos muy tarado trans: You're so dumb.
Casual Terms If you want to call someone "dude" or refer to a friend, you can say: - "Boludo" (masc) / "Boluda" (fem) or "Amigo/a" boludo technically means idiot, but people here use it in a friendly way. it all depends on the context. and amigo means friend. Example: - Boludo, no podes hacer eso. trans: Dude, you can't do that. - Dale amigo apurate ! trans: Come on dude, hurry up! a similiar word to boludo is "pelotudo". it has the same meaning but can be more aggressive (still use it in a friendly way)
Insults (VERY important, at least for me xdxd) If you鈥檙e trying to insult someone, don鈥檛 say "cabr贸n" or "pinche" (those are very mexican). Instead, use "hijo de puta" (literally "son of a bitch"). Example: - Aaa pero sos un hijo de puta. trans: Oh, but you're a son of a bitch more insults... - Pelotudo de mierda (Shitty idiot(? idk how to translate this ups) - Chupame la pija (Suck my dick) - La puta que te pari贸 (the whore who gave birth to you) - No me rompas las bolas (don't bother me)
How to call someone Pretty Don't say "guapo/a" (that's more common in Spain and M茅xico). Instead, use "Lindo/a" (cute, pretty) or "Hermoso/a" (beautiful) Example: - Sos re lindo. trans: You're so pretty. If you want to say something is "too much" of something, use "re" or "muy".
Saying "Hey" If you want to say "Hey", you can use "Che" and it mixes well with english too. Example: - Che, shut up for a second. (Want to tell someone to STFU? Say "cerr谩 el culo" literally "close your ass" lol)
And that's it !!
i know it's a dumb thing but anyway hope this helps to get a better understanding of how uruguayans would actually speak, and just let me know if you need help with anything!
