I want to write a fic where Lilo goes to college and her roommate is Boo from Monsters Inc. Boo is the first person to think Stitch is adorable and cuddly, and Lilo is the first person not to act like “Mike Wazowski” was a weird name for a goldfish. They get on like a house on fire which is kind of bad for Nani’s blood pressure.
But then one night they wake up in the middle of the night because something is in their closet. And the door starts to creak open so Stitch tackles whoever (whatever) is in there. They fall back into the closet, the door slams shut… and when Lilo runs over and opens it there’s nothing but an empty closet.
Then Boo tells Lilo all about this weird thing that happened to her when she was a kid, and how no one ever believed her but she knows it was real.
And cue Lilo and Boo busting into the Monster world to rescue Stitch and wreaking mad havoc in the process.

Folks, friends, y’all…. esk*mo is a slur. I understand a lot of people don’t know that, I don’t want to be a dick about it, but I’ve been seeing it in fics. Wanna write “esk*mo kisses”? Just say “nuzzled noses” or something.
I’m not here to call anybody out, it’s been in multiple fics, I’m not vague posting. This is just a psa. 👍🏻

Really hoping you’re doing alright if you’re suffering through the heat wave in Europe right now. Having seen the PNW go into the triple digits last year (a region that barely sees temps above 85F/29C in the summer) it was horrifying to witness the toll it took on people and the wildlife.
When you live in a climate NOT acclimated for sudden dramatic temperature increases the results can be deadly and devastating for people, wildlife and the regional agriculture. I think we will be feeling the effects of these sudden heat waves for a long time.
I hope you can stay cool and safe, there’s lots of tips on how to keep you home cooler online like:
How to make reflective curtains -An easy and inexpensive way to deflect heat from your home.
How to make a swamp cooler -A little more involved to construct but a lot less expensive and less energy guzzling than a portable AC unit.
And importantly:
The signs of heat stroke
Other than that I hope you can stay as cool and hydrated as possible. When we lived in hot places and wanted to avoid a high energy bill my folks would sometimes take us for ‘inside fun’ during the hottest parts of the day. Usually a movie theater or some form of arcade. A place with AC. Understandably be cautious with Covid still.
Hope this helps someone out <3
#I’ve had heat strokes before and I live in Wisconsin#this really helps to see the difference between a heat stroke and something not quite as dangerous#i didn’t even know I had one the first time I had one#I thought it was just exhaustion#very helpful for people like me who are working 13 hours a day for a summer fair during a heat wave#not in Europe but also somewhere where heat isn’t common in the middle of a heat wave

i learned that in August 2014 Women’s Voices for the Earth commissioned testing of four types of Always menstrual pads, manufactured by Procter & Gamble. The certified laboratory STAT Analysis Corporation analyzed the products for volatile organic compound.
“The results of the testing indicate that both scented and unscented Always pads emit toxic chemicals, including chemicals identified by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services National Toxicology Program, the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry, and the State of California Environmental Protection Agency as carcinogens, and reproductive and developmental toxins. None of these chemicals are disclosed on the product by the manufacturer.” (x)

Something I enjoy in fic is when writers reference their own oneshots to reinforce their points. They'll be like remember when these characters learned to trust each other real quick because they robbed a bank together? That didn't happen in canon but there's another 3k fic here that I'd bet makes it pretty plausible. And then you go through half their stories like that, in this loose little persuasive continuity. I do this but I've also seen other folks do this and just get fond of it. You don't have to write a novel, or even multiple chapters, to build on an idea
