Oh, literally average experience with therapists.
This therapist got my eye twitching. I tell this woman I lack empathy. She claims I have empathy bc "I know how to talk to people." Of course I do, I'm not fucking stupid. I don't understand them, though. No idea why they are telling me shit bc I can't feel for them. Nor do I care what they tell me. She says "you don't lack empathy bc you understand, you lack sympathy." I AM TELLING YOU I DON'T UNDERSTAND. So she gave me some print out from the internet about "developing empathy." It has stuff like "put yourself in other people's shoes" and "examine your biases." Which, I guess I can see the point of those. I cut the session short and told her I was done for the day. And she joked "haha yea you lack empathy so you don't care." No, I really don't. I was thinking about busting your computer over your head bc you just decided you understand my head when I've barely scratched the surface of my brain. I was already dreading this, but I told myself I would work on it for my kids. Now, I'm just aggravated.
Ah yes. Lacking empathy = being socially inept.

Can the Blood Meridian tag not be completely filled with people complaining about what they perceive as the bad part of the fandom? Can this be a separate tag or also tagged as vent or drama so I can mute it successfully? I understand that raising awareness of the problems is important, but I am already well aware of the problems as I exist. I recieve no tangible benefit from seeing these complaints passed around, and it instead clogs up the tag when I am looking for the content for which I seek, and I am desirous of making constructive content appreciating literature.

Just got hit with the fucking crowbar of a thought that Holden and Glanton aren’t gay aren’t just friends but are a secret third thing (toxic qpr before queerplatonic was even a thing). They hate each other. You could not separate them as they are Gorilla Glue’d at the hip. They are actively at each other’s throats and may kill each other with hammers. They’ve made out once and never again but some nights they go for walks when everyone else is asleep and there’s a quiet tension there. Not yearning not hatred but something straddling that volatile line. You get me right.

i think that the blood meridian movie might lean more into the supernatural aspects of the story so it's not *AS* disturbing. still horrific, but more palatable/easier for audiences to handle. they'll probably make the judge the actual devil or at least imply it more heavily

Anon 531 I 100% agree. Glanton, move over, it’s MY turn to fall asleep and be cradled gently in the arms of a genuine monster. It’s the dichotomy of the Judge being absolutely horrific yet having, at the bare minimum, some capacity for gentleness that I think makes him attractive to simps and such. People eat that kind of contrast up. (People = me). - 🐍
