The first boarder moves in #3

It's a busy afternoon at the farm. Brian is exercising Beauty in the arena and working on some dressage exercises and Carol is mucking stalls. Suddenly, a rider appears at the gate and Beethoven alerts them by barking loudly. "Hi there! Can I help you?", asks Carol. "Hi! I'm Susan and this is my mare Gretchen. We're boarding down the road at Somerset and I heard you moved in so I wanted to see if you offer boarding. Somerset isn't what it used to be." "Sure! Come on in! I'll show you around!"

"I'll show you the barn first. Only our horses Misty and Beauty are in here so far, but we're soon going to grow and will add schooling horses and more boarders."

"Every stall has a window and we only close them during frost. We offer high quality feed, blanketing and turnout." "This is so much nicer! I really like this!" "Come on, let me show you our indoor arena."

"You can train here in any weather or even at night." "I love it and I can tell Gretchen is really relaxed. She likes it too."

Suddenly they hear loud thunder. "Oh no! You can't ride home in a storm. Put Gretchen in a stall and we can go inside and look at the paperwork if you want to."

Brian joins the ladies and Gretchen seems very happy in her stall. "I'm so glad you found us, Susan."

"Let me make some coffee while the paperwork is printing. Welcome to Pinehurst Stables, Susan! You said you want to move this weekend?" "Yes, I want to move as quickly as possible. I can't wait to enjoy this beautiful facility."

Gretchen and Beauty are watching the rain falling and are enjoying their fresh hay.

Exploring the trails #2

They had a restful first night in their new home. Carol yells from the bathroom: "Hey Brian! After breakfast, we should explore the trails and eventing area a little."

Brian responds: "I think that's a great idea. I'm sure Beauty and Misty can't wait to stretch their legs after the long trailer ride yesterday."

They groom and tack up Misty and Beauty who can't wait to get going. The sun is shining today and it's a beautiful morning.

After warming up the horses, they canter down a wide trail to the eventing area. "I can really see us offering trail rides here!", says Carol. "Yes, our next step will be to find some reliable horses", responds Brian. "It's a beautiful and huge property."

Misty and Carol take the first eventing jump successfully. Carol can tell that Misty already feels at home here.

Beauty is next and also takes the jump without fail. "We have some brave partners!", yells Brian.

After the ride, they head over to the huge pasture. They had checked the fencing properly before moving and fixed some areas. Misty and Beauty will get to stretch their legs for the rest of the day and enjoy grazing in the sunshine.

Carol and Brian head back to the barn to muck stalls and get everything ready for the night. "I can see how great this is going to be once we have our barn full of schooling horses and boarders", says Carol. "Right now I feel that something is missing."

After their long day, they discuss which auctions they want to visit to look for reliable schooling horses.

"It's finally time to put our plan in motion, Brian." "No worries, Carol. It's all going to turn out beautifully. You're going to see! I already feel at home here."

Welcome home #1

Carol and Brian finally arrive at their new home. They just bought this beautiful property on the Southside of Atlanta and are planning to transform it into a boarding and schooling stable in the coming months. They are tired after a three hour drive from Tennessee with their horses Beauty and Misty in the trailer.

Carol opens the barn door and turns on the lights. Everybody is exhausted after this long day and they want to put the horses in their stalls as quickly as possible so they can all relax.

Carol unloads her mare Misty first. She has owned Misty since she was 3 years old. She is now 6, well trained and they've been competing in dressage, show jumping and eventing together. Misty is exiting the trailer a little too quickly and Brian has to help Carol to calm her down.

Misty gets the first stall inside the barn. She enters without any hesitation.

Brian's gelding Beauty is next. He exits the trailer more carefully. Beauty is 8 years old and has been with Brian for 2 years now. He's very well trained and has successfully competed in eventing, dressage and show jumping as well.

Carol and Brian hurry to get their horses fed. Their dachshund Beethoven is exploring the barn as well. He's been their trusted companion for two years and follows them everywhere on his short legs. Carol mounts the leadlines on the stall entrances so the horses can look out.

"I hope you like your new home, Beauty!" Brian checks him over one last time to make sure he arrived without any injuries.

Misty is also perfectly fine and munching on her hay. Carol tells Brian: "I think we can finally relax ourselves."

"We deserve these cupcakes right now! It's been a long day. No Beethoven, you can't have these! We brought your kibble."

Time to watch some TV. Both are a little afraid. It's going to be a big change to their lives once they start their boarding and schooling barn. They have made plans for years and can't wait to make it all a reality.
