Ive been thinking about that for some time and
IM FUCKING LOSING MY MIND AT THAT LAST COBY AND LUFFY SCENE
What was the purpose of that, just whyyyyyyy
What is narratively, the point of the staring scene, if not to set romantic tension?
Besides the fact that Coby/Luffy have the same dialoge line as Ussop/Kaya

And i dont know about yall but my mind imediatly conected the two
With the ussop/kaya this line is followed by the kissing scene but coby/luffy have this... staring... before the "be a good marine/be a good pirate"
It just felt like it would lead to a kiss come on

It took a few days to sail to Shells Town. The daylight hours were filled with Luffy’s endless jabbering, Coby quickly realizing the best way to keep the rubber man distracted from his boredom was talking.
Luffy talked about his dream, about his future crew, upcoming adventures sailing the seas, and his home back on Dawn Island. Coby asked about family, Luffy relaying stories of his childhood between Ma-chan, meeting his own hero Shanks, his brothers and shitty Gramps, and growing up with bandits. The boy couldn’t help but be entranced by the animation and emotion Luffy put the story telling even if he
Nights, Coby spent the time keeping them on course and staring at Luffy, still thinking he was in a dream no matter how many times he pinched himself. Luffy may not consider himself a hero, but that’s what he was to Coby.

I hope that the final Boss Fight in One Piece will be Luffy Vs Koby and if I was Oda, I would do this.
It takes us back to the very first episode, the first character we are introduced to is Koby, not Luffy, but Koby. And its not like Koby becomes a member of the crew or a major Villain, Koby is present for a few episodes then disappears with a promise to become strong, to become a great marine. Oda could've removed Koby's character and virtually nothing would've changed.
Koby is a purposeful character, always has been.
Even if we don't official reunite with him for over 200 episodes. Hell, I forgot about Koby. Then he comes back, stronger but not strong enough. Koby and Luffy are friends, but they're on opposite sides of the playing field. Marine and Pirate. They will fight one day. They both know it. And Koby proclaims his dream to become an Admiral. Luffy agrees with him, stating that he has to be the strongest of the strong to beat him.
Every time Koby is of focus in One Piece, it is a part of a cataclysmic build up to the ultimate battle. We see him grow.
We first see him as a cowardly slave-boy on Alvida's crew. Then we see him take his freedom and make a promise. Then we see him (and helmeppo) start training with Garp, getting fitter and more battle-worthy. We see him proclaiming his dream in water 7.
Now I've only just finished Marineford, so I haven't seen anything more of Koby that what I'm about state.
In Marineford, he shows a callosal display of bravery and morality. There was this post I saw a time ago that reminds me of Koby when he's making a warrior's stand against Akainu.
Courage isn't the absence of fear, but is doing the right thing regardless of it.
And then it continues to add-
Goodness isn't the absence of bad thoughts or impulses, but the conscious choice to behave according to your moral ideals in spite of them or outer influences
Both of these quotes just radiate Koby to me. He is afraid, shell shocked and traumatized from the war he's just witnessed. He is just a child, 16/17. He's younger than Luffy. He is so afraid yet he stands before a terribly power man, a man he should respect and adore simply because he's representing his dream.
Koby doesn't buckle beneath the corruption of the Marines, of the World Government, of the great Admirals. He sticks to what he believes in, his moral compass keeps pointing to justice, equality, peace. He is a good man because he doesn't change who he is for his dream, for the people who could help him achieve his dream.
This is a miniscule insight to the man who Koby will become, a good man who will stand for what he believes him, who will step up when others are unnecessarily hurt, who, despite pain or fear, will do what must be done.
Doesn't that remind you of someone? Maybe, of our own Straw-hat wearing boy?
Luffy, in the future, will have to fight someone so much like himself. Someone who took a little while to find themself, but found themself nevertheless and they found unbelievable strength and unyielding determination and endless compassion.
Maybe they end up like Roger and Garp. Two equally powerful men on opposite ends of the playing field, each fight ending as a draw, never a definitive winner.
Maybe history is doomed to repeat itself.

FE Engaged Theory SPOILERS
I'm on Chapter 11 running in a forest for my life but I have a theory of what is happening and want to write it down somewhere with a date and time so I can point and go SEE I KNEW IT Aleear goes to sleep for 1000 years and wakes up when the fell dragon is awaken. I will assum Veyle also woke up the same time since she is most definitely Aleear's sister. I also believe the stone she is holding is our dragonstone ((since all dragons in all of fire emblem could not transform without one)). Red is the color of the fell dragon's power while blue is the color of the divine dragon's power. I think since Sonbron is a boy, that he may be their father. Maybe Aleear, Sonbron, and Mama lived happily for many years until for some reason Sonbron decided to be evil. Mama and Aleear set to war to fight him. Being cute children Aleear and Veyle probably said "Mama! I'll go on ahead!" When Mama runs in she finds Aleear alone with red hair and eyes, somehow they were bested by the fell dragon. "Aleear! ...why are you in here all alone?" I guess Veyle was there too, and before Aleear was gone he was able to hand off his dragonstone to her. Veyle was probably attacked by Aleear (or thrown out of sight by them before their mind was gone). Mama sees her child assumes Veyle had died and seals away Sonbron. For 1000 years she gives her child her divine energy to awaken them from succumbing to the fell dragon. Since they still are partially red that is why they did not awaken until the fell dragon did. Veyle, I feel like when we met she had yellow eyes? If it was blue forgive me, but I think that Sonbron found her wherever he awoke and then she was imprioned and also given fell dragon energy. Ivy said that the fell dragon could not move, I think it is partially because he was creating a tiny soldier... I can't explain the time crystal but its both blue and red, maybe because thats what resulted from Mama and Sonbron fighting? Like a symbol of true love?? There's too much foreshadowing of Chloe liking fairy tales and the story Broucheron is reading being of "two sibilings seperated at birth"
Also fire emblem why does the fell dragon always need a lady??
