I have been replaying stardew valley recently and each time I see Shane holding charlie my heart starts melting.

My new favorite hobby is telling my brother random facts about Stardew Valley, without any kind of context.

"Yeah, I just have to kill a few more monsters to get a cool reward from the guild."

"She's just the town drunk, I like talking to her. That other one? He's depressed and also an alcoholic, so I'm trying to get his sad scenes."

Hiya! I just started playing Stardew Valley and am still trying to figure things out. Do you have any tips for new players? (Lovely mod!)

Okay, so.

It depends on if you want to play an absolutely vanilla game your first time, or if you don’t mind modding things. There are a number of quality-of-life mods that made the game a lot more enjoyable for me personally because I no longer had to micro-manage every tiny itty bitty little thing, plus… omg… I could walk faster?

That’s a matter of personal opinion, however, and the decision is ultimately yours. You can play Stardew however you want!

stardew valley tips

start fishing as early as you can so you can level up and get fish that sell for $100 on average

COFFEE BEANS. buy one and plant it. a fully grown plant will give you one seed per every few days, which you can quickly plant into a big field. since each seed sells for $15, and a big field gives about 100-200 per day, you can quickly rack up the thousands of coins

put your crab pots in the ocean with bait (it’s the only place to get lobsters)

dig up as many artifacts as you can. they can be found in the ground (look it up on the wiki, they look like brown worms) and in the sandy parts of the mines

speaking of the wiki, it’s the best tool for literally everything. each villager has a unique schedule and set of gifts which they love, like, dislike, hate and are neutral about.

keep trash you find because later in the game (about the second year) you can recycle them into useful things like refined quartz

the quarry isn’t all that useful after the initial opening. i’ve seen someone use it as space for kegs, with an indicator keg at the farm

keep at least one of each item you get ever. sometimes villagers will ask on the noticeboard for everyday or obscure items and you’ll want to have one on hand

get a mayonnaise machine and a cheese press!! eggs and milk go in those and mayo and cheese sell for a good amount. if the eggs and milk have stars on them, maybe sell those instead though

STOCK UP ON HAY. use a scythe on long grass to collect hay, but leave some long grass as it spreads. collect all of the long grass before winter

keep cheap flowers and berries like sweet peas because they make nice gifts to most villagers

unlock the minecarts asap you’ll thank me later
