We need Tim Walz energy.
Trump is a buffoon. He governs like a rapist. He thinks it's his government, his military.
It's OUR government. OUR military.
There needs to be pre-emotive and immediate pushback on all Trump actions.
Moet Trump executive orders are illegal. He starts from an illegal position, hoping to get a fraction of his ask.
Get the legal action going immediately.

Another old but reliable gadget.
I believe I traded some blank 30.06 rounds and a loaf of bread for this. It's a Kodak 1A Autographic Jr. from the early 1910's. It belonged to my buddy's grandparents, and he said it "belongs back in the city it came from." I've since used liquid electrical tape to repair the light leaks in the bellows. All shutter speeds work correctly, but I'll have to get the lens apart to clean it. The viewfinder has been taken apart and cleaned, and all hinges have been lubed up. The type of film this baby took is LONG since out of production....but conversion kits exist that'll allow me to run 120 film through it (thank you, old camera community). I will most likely see if I can get a new leather handle for it made. The outer leather covering is flaking off, but it's purely cosmetic and honestly for its age, this camera is in good shape. If all goes as planned and I can get this thing fully operational before April, it'll come with me to my next WWI reenactment. Heck, maybe I can get someone to take a photo of my entire group with it (it's a big group and this camera shoots panoramic, too).

Washing Machine Charlie.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The last thing the North Korea expected- or wanted to see - was a massive build up of UN air power to contest their invasion of South Korea. But, that's what they got. Fuck around and find out. The IL-10, Yak-9 and La-7 fighters the North Koreans sent south across the 38th parallel in June of 1950 would soon be eaten alive by US Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps aircraft, as well as British air force and navy planes, Australian Air Force and navy planes, and South African Air Force planes. Even with the addition of MiG 15 jet fighters in late 1950, North Korea struggled in the air-to-air fight, as the majority of their planes were forced to operate out of China where UN forces could not touch them. As the war turned into a stalemate, North Korea sought to gain some kind of advantage in the air. They did so by arming training airplanes and sending them out at night to harass UN lines. Known as "Washing Machine Charlies" due to the noise that their engines made, Yakovlev 18's would bomb on or near UN targets, making for sleepless nights. This little bird was fun to put together.

I may live an hour-ish or so away from the Canadian border, but in a past life I surely lived in Louisiana. I have a flare for Cajun & Creole cuisine. One of my bros and fellow WWI reenactors stopped out after his shift last evening for a beer. Well I can't just offer the guy a Genny. The dude needed food and I had the stuff. So, I made Yakamein. I was assisted by my sous chefs, the dogs.
If you've never had it, I suggest you try it. According to lore & legend, Yakamein came about when Chinese immigrants moved to New Orleans and made their dishes using local ingredients/spices. The dish is a neat blending of cultures, truly an American masterpiece.
Fun fact- I still have never been to Louisiana.

Wow. I rarely go on Tumblr and I made one post about some reenactment photos and BAM. Something like 500 interactions with the post and a bunch of people following me. Thanks guys, I mean I don't go outta my way to post shit just for likes and what not, I just appreciate the online community for letting me fly my proverbial nerd flag and not judging me for it. Here are a few more photos I took with my VPK. These were the first ones I took with it. Just some shots around Rochester, a few monuments, 2 of my 3 dogs, and a golf course that used to be the site of an airfield (which inspired a buddy of mine and I to create a USAAS WWI impression tailored to that airfield). Hope you folks enjoy!

Another hobby of mine, that is within another hobby: taking photos on a 100+ year old camera while at my World War I reenactments.

I ordered film in the middle of October for my late 1910's-early 1920's Vest Pocket Autographic Kodak camera. It's a film that is rare nowadays...as late as 1995 I'd have been able to go to any film store in my hometown (where I still live, and where Kodak's corporate headquarters and manufacturing facilities are/were) and get myself a few rolls. Now I have to order it from film suppliers online who import the 8-shot rolls from Japan. I found the camera online last year on Etsy. I paid not a lot of money for it, and damned if it wasn't in tip-top shape. In April of 2024 I went to the WWI spring tactical in Newville, Pennsylvania. I had one roll of film with me and took some damned good photos of some damned good friends of mine, as well as a shot of no-man's land and the German trenches beyond....which coincidentally housed some other damned good friends of mine. There's a place about 15 minutes from me that develops 127 film and also scans it onto a flash drive. The two rolls I received today I had hoped would have gotten here in time for the fall tactical last month, but the supplier was out of stock. Oh well, it just means I have more for next April's event! The reproduction film box was a gift from one of my oldest and bestest reenactor friends.

The Yak-18: trainer aircraft to the Eastern Bloc, "hit those running dogs of imperialism with this because it's all we have" aircraft to North Korea.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ive started a new project- the Yak-18 "Max". Better known as "Washing Machine Charlie" to soldiers of the United Nations fighting on the ground during the Korean War. The motor of the airplane sounded like one of those old gasoline-powered washing machines (so the story goes.) It's an easy kit but needs a lot of trimming/cleaning up of the "flash" plastic that seeps out from between the mold dies. The cockpit was super bare-bones, but I solved that by adding control sticks made from .031 diameter soldering wire, and yellow masking tape cut into small sections and painted to look like seatbelts.
