Fabulously Flowery!
Such a lovely morning at a workshop with Sarah of English Peonies learning how to make and wrap a hand tied bouquet. My own garden is tropically green (more of that another time) and although my little back yard is awash with geraniums in pots which love the heat, the flowers I have in the flower beds have really suffered this summer. So it was a joy to wander around Sarah’s glorious walled…

Best Laid Plans...Whoops!
Happy Fergus heading to the beach We’re home, from a week in sunny Somerset with two happy, tired little dogs. There have been trips to the beach, walks in the woods and expeditions into towns where they have strutted their stuff and been much admired and fussed. They are very happy to visit a pub if the members of staff come out with treats and cuddles. I have to make do with a glass of white…

Time, Tides…and Mud.
Maybe it’s having been born near a tidal estuary but I’ve always been drawn to the quiet beauty and constant movement to be found where a river meets the sea and the tide changes the landscape endlessly. The water’s passage across the land etches rivulets and hazardous boggy patches to catch the unwary, but gives life to tiny plants which thrive despite the challenging conditions. This is the…

Double Trouble
There’s a lot of catching up to do and it seems the burning question I left hanging was the arrival of Finlay, our long awaited dachshund pup. So the big reveal is, we went off to collect one puppy, and came home with two! it’s a long story, but there he was, the last of the litter, after problems with the original prospective buyer. And, well, how could we not? Finlay’s little brother is…

If not now, when…?
The longer I leave it, the harder it is to restart! I’ve been faffing for far too long feeling that I need, want to start blogging again. And there’s only one thing to doDO IT! When I started Planet Penny all those years ago it was to get my creativity going, and it’s much the same now. I’m going back to basics now and starting over. I no longer run a business but I still need to be creative.…

A New Family Member!
We’ve met our baby at last, and there is a story to tell. Over the years I have been struck by how many times things have happened which seem to have been ‘meant’. Little things which link together which make you think that’s got to be more than a coincidence, even when the rational side of you wants to dismiss it all. I’ve given up being rational, it happens too often! Finlay – six weeks…

Happy Easter
I’m just popping in to wish you all a very happy Easter from Planet Penny, and Finlay! Finlay is now four weeks and three days old so now seems a good time to announce his name. We are off to meet him in person at the end of the week, I’m so excited! He’ll be joining us next month which seems an awfully long time to wait, I’m so missing the patter of little feet. I’ll be back soon… x

And so it begins…
I have news…happy news! Planet Penny has a new recruit lined up as Studio Assistant, Cuddle Sponge and Entertainments Officer. His job title is much longer than he is at the moment but he is doing his best to grow into it! Here he is on the left, with his sister and mum. It’s going to be while before he is ready to join us so I have some time to get into training for a fresh puppy experience.…

Return of the Light
I can’t believe it’s March already! Despite the current cold snap things are beginning to show signs of life in the garden and the evenings are getting ever lighter. The patch of lawn under the cherry trees has been lit up with crocuses, have you noticed how the yellow ones glow in the sunlight? The snowdrops are beginning to sag a little but there are early daffodils and a clump of primroses…

Farewell, my Best Boy
So hard to write, but Higgins didn’t come home. Scans showed his little body was full of tumours and we had to make the dreadful, but only decision to put him out of pain. We held him in our arms as he slipped away and it was so very, very hard. There is an aching void in the house, a massive hole left by a very small dog. Thank you all for the lovely messages, thoughts and prayers. I know he…

Not the post I planned…
All thoughts of creativity have been put on hold today, Higgins is in hospital. As yet we don’t know what we are facing but we would be so grateful for thoughts and positive vibes for our little mate. He’s brought such joy to us over the last thirteen and a half years, we’re not ready to lose him yet. x

Blogtober Day 4 - Fair Isle Knits
Blogtober Day 4 – Fair Isle Knits
Would you believe it?! Switched on my PC to write the day four post and… beep… beep…beep… splat and it’s off to the repair shop. Now changing gear, I’m on my iPad and trying to work out how to get at my photos! I have another WIP to share today. It really shouldn’t be taking me this long but I broke my own rule and I’m using navy blue wool. This just DOES NOT WORK in the evenings in front of the…

Blogtober Day 3 - Temperature Blanket
Blogtober Day 3 – Temperature Blanket
I am sooo behind with my temperature blanket! One of the hazards of having far too many projects on the go at once. I blame my butterfly brain, always fluttering off to the next pretty thing which appears over the horizon. However, this is it so far: I’ve reached the end of June! But, I keep a journal where I try very hard to record the daily maximum and minimum temperatures every day so I can…

Blogtober Day 2
Hello, and thank you for the lovely comments on my previous posts. It’s great to be back, and I’m gradually beginning to get back into the blogging mindset. Photograph everything… write notes… get out of the house and do stuff! But today I discover it is also Socktober! Why have I never heard of this before? I found out it began as a charity in the US which I think is a wonderful idea. This year…

Thank you!
What a wonderful welcome back you have given me, unexpected and so heartwarming. Thank you… I thought I would share with you something pretty personal to me which might give you a little insight to my journey back here. It certainly helped me make sense of my own life over the past few years and some clarity as to how I want to travel into the future. I had a lot of pleasure drawing it too!

New Year, Same Me!
New Year, Same Me!
Apparently the best way to counteract writer’s blog is write. Just write. So here I am, kick starting the Planet Penny blog again by waffling on a bit and wondering if there is still someone out there. But actually, it doesn’t matter if everyone has moved on, I’m going to write this for me and see where it takes me. And if you are still out there, give me a shout, a wave and tell me how you are…
