I was thinking about how these morons grow out their grey scales and a friend + I settled on them getting all splotchy from their head and going from there.

Adolescents growing out their scales entirely is probably the mark of full maturity?

Is it accurate to actual animals? Probably not. But is it cute as hell? Totally

Took a lot of inspo from how that one artist draws pegasi with feathers (gorjee-art iirc? Their Fluttershy au is beautiful and im not even an avid MLP fan. Go follow them nowww) sadly I don't do it as much justice as they do but it's still cute asfff

Don't look at his little butt mark too close it was very much an afterthought. Believe it or not, deciding his color scheme was an actual nightmare. I wanted to use some of his canon hair colors but I didn't wanna just stick to that because the ponies are usually a little more colorful! So this is what I landed on.... Not 100% happy with it but I think it's still cute

Lee is a little bit different because my headcanons for night furies aren't fully fleshed out yet, but they probably start a little earthier/lighter and darken with age. So here he is!

Head canon for light fury babies!

I have a personal headcanon that they nest + raise their young on cliff faces where they can dive into the water to get fish!

I think that light fury babies should be grey with dark stripes to blend into the rocks, and these markings lighten into white + the glittery bits on the adults!!!! Basically tabby cat fat babies that turn into fancy sleek white adults

Alsooo I finally gave him an actual dragon name so he isn't the weirdo dragon named Robert 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺 it's Rockslide! I'll still probably refer to him as rob (same as what I do with lee/starling) so it's less confusing but he has an in-universe name that fits now!

I might fix Lee's too???? Idk this was very spur-of-the-moment so we'll see
