My sis used to go by "Minipig" on the internet and eventually changed it to "Megapig" as she got older, then my mother said "if you're Megapig, I should be Gigapig", then they nicknamed me "Micropig" for being the shortest, then dad joined the group chat "Pig Family" as "Papapig" and we made a channel for posting photos of the family dog titled "pictures of Little Oink"

Netanyahu is now admitting what the intention was all along, the complete takeover of Gaza. Displaced people are already forced into only 25% of Gaza, and now Israel wants to reduce it to 0%. The Israeli settler-colonial project can only be complete through the genocide of Palestinians. They have been destroying infrastructure, killing the environment, killing the people, starving the children.

"Headcanoning a gender non-conforming character as trans is bad because you're taking away GNC representation" <- comment made by people who have more in common with the "save the tomboys" transphobic crowd than they are willing to admit.

There is so much richness to Julian Bashir’s character and he adds so much to the fabric of DS9 as a show, and it’s unfortunate to me that so many summations of his character - I’m thinking especially of relatively mainstream critical venues, though sometimes in fandom as well - downplay or ignore his thematic significance, and contextualize his character only through either the homoerotic potential of his dynamic with Garak or the development of his friendship with Miles O’Brien.
It’s odd to me as well, because so many fans and critics praise DS9 for its willingness to be critical of the Federation and of Starfleet, and yet I see relatively little acknowledgment of how much of that criticism is accomplished through the character of Bashir (alongside, of course, Sisko). His infamous “frontier medicine” line is the very first example - it completely upends the ethos on which Star Trek rests, and it’s placed in his mouth. That matters, given that that he is set up as a character who believes in the utopia in which he grew up, and whose altruism is well-intentioned but shown to be naïve. That’s why he’s paired with Sisko in Past Tense, in which he’s shocked by the injustices of the past; it’s why we have episodes like The Quickening, which demonstrates without a doubt that his heroic impulses are good and worthwhile, but need to be tempered by humility.
And two of the arcs that are the most sharply critical of the Federation - namely, the augment thread and the Section 31 subplot - both centre Bashir. That’s not an accident. Those arcs raise all manner of questions related to institutional corruption and self-protection, the narrow standards of normalcy in Federation society, disposability and unpersonhood, the degree to which moral standards can be stretched for the greater good (similar questions to those raised by In the Pale Moonlight), etc.
Broadly speaking, Bashir’s arc centres on the awakening of innocence to experience, and about the process of becoming disillusioned with one’s ideals, but, simultaneously, the catalysts of that process only serving to emphasize the continued importance of those ideals. (Not to mention the fine line between heroism and self-aggrandizement and status-seeking). The dynamics with Garak and O’Brien are enjoyable, and sometimes thematically relevant along some of these lines, but he has so much going on in his own right, and that deserves to be recognized.

a heads-up: Zara has been added to the BDS list.
The Palestinian BDS National Committee (BNC), the broadest Palestinian coalition leading the global BDS movement, officially endorses the grassroots, organic campaign to boycott ZARA. We call on people of conscience around the world to boycott ZARA, the flagship brand of the Spanish multinational Inditex, for its deep and growing complicity in Israel’s regime of settler-colonialism, apartheid, and genocide. At the start of 2025, amid Israel’s ongoing genocidal assault on Palestinians in Gaza, ZARA opened its largest-ever store in Israel - a 4,500 m² flagship in the Big Fashion Glilot complex near Tel Aviv. This expansion deepens ZARA’s economic ties with Israel, where the brand already operates dozens of stores. It comes at a time when Israel’s genocidal regime is carrying out mass killings, forced displacement, and the destruction of Palestinian cultural life with full impunity. Israel’s attack on Gaza has, to date, killed an undercount of over 80,000 Palestinians and has obliterated the Strip’s healthcare and education systems, devastating its social, cultural, and economic fabric, deliberately inflicting conditions of life in Gaza calculated to bring about the physical destruction of Palestinians.  ZARA’s complicity with Israel’s regime of oppression runs deeper still. In October 2022, Joey Schwebel, chair of Trimera Brands, ZARA’s Israeli franchisee, hosted a campaign event at his home for far-right Israeli minister Itamar Ben-Gvir. Ben-Gvir, who has openly called for the expulsion of Palestinians, the shooting of civilians, and the denial of humanitarian aid to Gaza, was cited in the International Court of Justice’s case, which found that Israel is plausibly committing genocide. Following the event, Ben-Gvir praised ZARA, tweeting: “ZARA, beautiful clothes, beautiful Israelis.”  In June 2021, ZARA Woman’s then-head designer, Vanessa Perilman, launched a racist tirade against Palestinians in Instagram messages to Palestinian model Qaher Harhash. ZARA responded with a weak public statement distancing itself from the remarks but took no meaningful action or accountability. The BDS movement calls on workers, artists, students, trade unions, human rights defenders, and ethical consumers around the world to boycott ZARA, and pressure Inditex to end its complicity in Israel’s crimes and withdraw its operations from apartheid Israel. ZARA has chosen to side with genocide. Boycott ZARA until it ends its criminal complicity.

as a pink lover. The ""universal""" hatred of the color pink by young girls is due to the heavy expectation of femininity forced on them. It is an expression of frustration at gender roles. It is not internalized misogyny. No you will not inevitably start liking pink as an adult and if you do that is not healing your inner divine feminine or whatever we're saying now. Its a color. 😁👍
