In-app browser redirects for password-protected Carrd sites

⭐️ NEW Carrd plugin template for in-app browser redirects

In-app browsers for some apps (like Instagram) have strict policy where they actively block popups like alert boxes. This means the password protect feature for Carrd sites won't work when on in-app browsers on Instagram.

This redirect plugin is a workaround for that - if it detects an in-app browser, it will show a message to ask users to open the window in an external browser app. Once there it will automatically redirect the user to the password-protected Carrd site. Other users using normal browsers (on desktop/mobile) will not see the message and be auto-redirected your site to login.

Add custom icons to your Carrd site

Made another Carrd plugin today! It lets you add your own custom icons to an Icons group in your Carrd site.

This one's directly inspired by someone asking how to add an icon that represents his brand but not available in the native Carrd icon set.

Just needs to paste the direct image link of any svg or png file and it's good to go!

Auto update your age in your Carrd site

I always see folks talking about how they forgot to update their age on their Carrd, so thought this little plugin would help!

Just shipped a new Carrd plugin to auto-update your age or any age-related number on your site.

Could also be useful for any age-related number, for companies, events, in the About page.

This is done using a native Carrd text element to set the auto-updating age – that means you can edit the style of the text easily without code. Just type {age} normally, set the birth year in the code, and it automagically changes it to the intended age number.

Redirect Carrd

Saw on multiple occasions Carrd folks asking about how to redirect a .carrd.co site to another site.

Got an idea and went to make the redirect plugin!

It's a free Carrd plugin template to redirect your old Carrd site to a new URL. Sometimes you have an old .carrd.co site that you're 'upgrading' to a new .com website on another platform, and want to redirect the .carrd.co subdomain to the new .com domain.

Technical note: We can't change the DNS records for 301 server-side redirects, so using JavaScript on the client-side in an Embed element is a work-around.

A/B testing different Sections on Carrd?

I know lots of marketing folks who use Carrd as a marketing landing page for their company's products and services. And a few had asked if it's possible to do A/B testing using Carrd, to test how different versions of marketing copy and landing page designs will affect the conversion rate.

I'm curious myself, so I went to make one!

With this, you can test different Sections with different messaging to see which one converts better. The code is pretty basic, so no analytics or anything fancy. Just plain redirect with equal distribution.
