So I wanted to take a stab at this!
“Darling!” said Zahra, sweeping into the room. She held up a dress, far racier than anything Vex had ever worn before (well, at least in public). “It’s been too long and tonight you and I are going out on the town,” the fiendish woman declared to the half elf. Vex was…nervous to say the least. She was right though, she hasn’t had just a girls night since…well it had to be a while now.
She hadn’t really…partied like that in quite some time, she’d been so focused on helping to rebuild Whitestone, and ensure that her responsibilities (of which she has so many of now) are taken care of. She tossed it up in her head, weighing the pros and cons but her thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the chamber doors. She simply called out a distant “enter”, her ears twitching at the door knob turning and…was that two sets of footsteps?
Her head lazily tilted towards the door, seeing two more of her friends in equally daring outfits. She gawked at them for a moment, convincing Pike to dress like this isn’t too hard but to get the ginger druid to dress like this? Zahra must’ve promised her something grand.
Vex heaved a loud deep sigh, glancing around at the scantily clad women around her, finally deciding to just do it. She nodded, took the dress and stepped into her private powder room. She closed the door and changed, deciding to wear her hair down as opposed to it being in her usual messy braid. She touched up her makeup, and put on some simple jewelry. She Glanced at herself in the mirror, something just felt…off.
She was unarmed, she was vulnerable, and she did not like that. The baroness stepped to her jewelry closet once more, grasping around for her thigh holster. Once she found it, she slipped it on as fast as she could and slid a dagger into it. She heaved a sigh of relief while putting on a nice matching pair of heels, and stepping out of the powder room. The three women, who were previously chatting, gathered around Vex to fawn over her.
“Alright, darling, we must be going now,” Zahra claimed. The troupe quickly grabbed their necessities and rushed down to the carriage waiting for them up front.
“Our first stop-”
“First stop?? Zahra, how many places are we going?! I can’t be out all-”
“Vex, yes you can. I talked to Percy and he can handle your tasks for a day or two,” Keyleth reasoned. That alone shut Vex right up, if Percival said he can handle it then she trusts him to handle it.
“Anyways, our first stop is a wine tasting!” Zahra exclaimed, the girls cheered. The carriage came to a sudden halt, jolting the adventurers around. They stumbled out of the carriage, slightly off balance from the jostling. They made their way in, just on time for the tasting and touring. Most of what was featured was red wine, some liked it more than others, followed by a few whites and roses. The roses particularly caught the taste of a certain druid, while the white was preferred to the fiend, and the red to Vex and Pike.
They made their way through the museum the tasting took place in, ever so briefly they made fun of it, until they made it back to the entrance and exit. They were buzzed, and certainly ready for the next location. Vex was practically vibrating from excitement and nervousness, Zahra linked her arm with the half elf she persuaded into going out with her. “See darling? It’s not so bad to take a break. On to the next place!”
“Which is…?” Keyleth asked, but Zahra motioned to zipping her lips. Her friends groaned, but followed after her to their next destination. They made it further into town, only to see a honey mead festival!
Vex had been so wrapped up that she forgot that this was happening tonight, and a slight sense of that new anxiety flowed through her veins. Was this an event she was supposed to speak at? Wasn't she supposed to help set up? Wasn't she supposed to make sure everything was just right? The cleric felt a wash of discomfort, not over herself though, she felt it pouring over her stressed friend. Pike looked at her friend, seeing the anxiety in her eyes. She, very subtly, reached her hand out and grasped the taller woman's. Vex was shocked by the touch and looked down at her friend. Pike gave her a look, mimicked taking a deep breath, and squeezed her friend's hand. Vex followed in her footsteps, took her own deep breath, and squeezed back (though she elected to keep one of her hands in Pike's).
Strings of lights, the smell of warm mead and melting honey wafting, and the sound of happy chatter and laughter among citizens. Music danced through the air, and Vex’ahlia’s heart sang. This certainly was not the Whitestone she had first met, this was not the oppressive and abusive land she had first encountered. No, this was a Whitestone of love, a Whitestone of peace, of happiness…and she had a hand in this. She helped make this happen, she helped repair the damages of time and she could not be prouder of her city, of her citizens. All it took was for her to see the pure joy and happiness to melt all that anxiety away.
They went by every booth ensuring to buy a bottle of the mead, most insisting Vex take it for free but she always slipped them some amount of gold. By the time the sun was setting the group was now beyond buzzed, lying on top of the tipsy line. They were swaying ever so slightly and felt wonderful. The next place that the horned woman led them to was their final destination, their favourite bar.
The moment they stepped in, their senses were overwhelmed. Music was blasting, the smell of sweat and alcohol lingered in the air, the feeling of bodies on bodies, the movement and dancing. Every aspect of her senses was overwhelmed. Their first move was to the bar for a round of shots and ale. They all cheered as they shot back the alcohol, each making their own minor face of disgust. They played a round or two of 'who can finish their ale first', Pike and Zahra tying for first place.
Once that was finished off, they finally felt drunk enough to just…be. They made their way to the dance floor, Zahra dancing with Vex while the other two did their own thing. Vex danced with Zahra for a while, letting the music flow into her ears and through her blood, her hips swayed like a leaf caught in the wind.
She swayed and danced. She felt so at peace, like herself again. She hadn’t felt like herself since before Vax died, but tonight…she was herself. She was simply Vex’ahlia, she wasn’t Grand Mistress of the Grey Hunt, she was not the Baroness of the First House of Whitestone, she was not the Champion of Pelor, and she was not the Coinmistress of the Tal’Dorei council. She was simply Vex, dressed in a beautiful ‘fuck you’ dress, drunk and dancing. She was just Vex’ahlia.
