what you should know: I am disabled by my daily fight against a long list of debilitating chronic illnesses, which I don’t feel necessary to list, but absolutely don’t mind talking about if you’re curious enough to ask! all that really pertains to rping is that I struggle greatly with chronic fatigue-- which can make replies slower due to extended periods of exhaustion-- as well as with avoidant personality disorder, which sometimes causes me to put off answering personal messages for no reason other than anxiety (ie it’s not your fault-- I try my very best to post warnings when I’m feeling anxious/avoidant, so that people awaiting responses know to expect a delay)

#405 Luxray ‘Mochi’ | M | Brave       Charon’s first ‘real' pokemon, befriended as a luxio after it presumably saved his life. The de facto leader among his team due to its take-charge, no-nonsense demeanor. Acts very much like a large cat, who purrs when scratched in the right places.

#358 Chimecho ‘Kompeito’ | F | Lonely      The first pokemon Charon officially caught as a trainer-- at the time, a withdrawn, self-isolating chingling. Named after what Charon was eating at the time, coincidentally matching Mochi’s name, and starting a trend he felt compelled to stick to with the rest of his team.

#333 Swabloo ‘Daifuku’ | M | Impish      Charon’s contest darling, whom he hopes to evolve into a Mega Altaria some day, and ride through the skies as a majestic mount. For now, though, the swabloo is small, ostentatious, and full of personality.

#188 Skiploom ‘Dango’ | F | Jolly      Charon’s newest pokemon, joyful and outgoing. Loves to eat, perhaps more than the rest of the team combined. He hopes that when she evolves, she will look like her namesake food, dango.

Generally upbeat and approachable, Charon is curious (perhaps excessively so), and eager to see and learn as much as he can as he travels. Though he is chivalrous, with etiquette coming second nature to him (as a result of his overbearing childhood), he also has a habit of acting spoiled and entitled– often forgetting that not everyone lives to serve him, and that his status as the child of a dignitary does not follow him everywhere. Typically, though, he is quick to correct himself about this particular bad habit.

Charon is also a rather emotional person, and is easily moved to sniffling tears by things that are touching or sad, or when he is frustrated or angry, or even just mildly offended– admittedly, he’s something of a crybaby.

The child of a wealthy, powerful older couple who had long struggled to conceive, Charon was spoiled from birth as something of a ‘miracle child’. He never had to do much for himself in life, always catered to hand and foot by a staff of maids.

As a young child, he was endowed a certain amount of freedom to explore the acreage of his family’s estate– until the day he went off too far, unknowingly wandering off their property and losing his way, into an unsafe area where wild fire-type pokemon roamed. He was attacked, and without a pokemon of his own to defend himself, was severely vulnerable; he did not fare well.

When Charon awoke, he was back on the lawn in front of his home– down one eye, and with second-degree burns up his left arm from attempting to shield himself. It seemed he’d been dragged to safety by a benevolent Luxio, whom he fast befriended– but at that point, his fate took a turn for the worse.

Fearing the worst for their beloved only child if he dare go out again, he was all but locked away in his estate for years to come, an existence plagued with constant loneliness, and the desire to set out on his pokemon journey, like other young children he’d known had done. He kept himself busy with reading about the outside world, history– ultimately any book he could get his hands on from his family’s libraries– baking, and doodling outfits that he and his Luxio would wear, were they ever to be able to participate in a pokemon contest.

As he neared adulthood, Charon had something of an emotional breakdown, realizing that in a few short years, his childhood would have officially slipped away for good. After a great deal of planning, and the inside help of a maid who wished for his freedom, he staged an escape one night, running off with his Luxio and the very bag he’d packed to go on the pokemon journey he never got to take when he was 11.

Though it has already been a couple of years or so since he left home, Charon is still trying to figure out the world around him, and discover things he’s only read about in books, and is eager to see in person. He may be intelligent in terms of ‘book smarts’, but is constantly bewildered by other people and pokemon, and the cultural and social norms he missed out on picking up from having lived such an isolated life. He also maintains a moderate fear and dislike of fire-type pokemon, resulting from the incident and injuries he sustained as a child (the scars from which he always keeps hidden with sleeves, gloves, bandages, etc)

Currently, Charon has chosen to try his hand at contests and coordinating over any specific pokemon league– and has had moderate success, due to his creativity with costumes and routines– though he secretly wishes he had the courage to be a real ‘trainer’ who fights.
