This made me a little sad knowing that the phrase "dark, looming wall of threat" was written about love by a man who's last love was disappeared to maintain his family's position of power.

These two wildy-handsome motherfuckers... Both are having a separate crisis that boils down to "I can't believe I want to fuck this specific guy."

I have never been more invested in two men who definitely, without a doubt, should NOT be fucking each other.
Krailert and Naran's entire situation is MESSY and will not end well, but I cannot look away.

"Dear readers, when you look up and observe the white strands of cloud in the sky, what do you see?"
This entire thing is so interesting to me. Krailert who is stuck in a depressing relationship he was forced to be in, desperate for some kind of love. He sees the castle in the sky, or at least he wants to believe it's there. He's lived so long in the dark, any hope would seem to be a brilliant white light to him.
Naran, however, doesn't even answer the question, choosing to instead to state that it doesn't matter, that its all fake. He says that Klai Rung "must've listened to the wrong song". Or is it that he himself isn't listening at all?
Take their flirting with book quotes, romance books to be specific. Naran initiates it, and continues to play along, pretending to be against the flirting, or even unaware of it. Probably convincing himself that it's just some silly puzzle or form of communication. Same as their months of back and forth in the newspaper.
Krailert though points out that all of his "rejections" were ripped out of context from paragraphs about love. Then calls him a "stonewaller"... and proceeds to tear down that wall.
If love is clouds, then Krailert found his castle, and Naran sees doom while pretending there are no clouds at all.
