this question has been eating away at me but are either the Emilys or Aftons Mormons in your au??? I know you like to do a lot of research on the locations and time periods of fnaf. I heard Utah is majority mormon and idk… I just can't picture two guys building iron maiden death traps and getting in one every morning with all of their crimes and fearing god.

YEAH RELIGION

The Emily’s are Protestant while Rosa, Henry’s ex-wife comes from a Catholic background, so Charlie is being raised somewhere between Mass and church services. The Afton’s aren’t religious in much aspect other than William and Claire went to Catholic school.

Henry’s family originally came from South Dakota, such as his grandparents, which is a predominantly Protestant area. A big part of Henry’s identity is being in a family of ranch hands, and they really just went where the work was, which caused them to come to Utah and slowly work down toward the border of Arizona, where they ultimately settled at.

When it comes to the Mormon’s in their community, the two families don’t judge them on the basis of their religion, although they side-eye the Mormon church as a whole. Especially William who has an issue with organized religion (trauma). He scares missionaries away while Henry typically invites them in to talk, debate, and give them water.

With Michael, he can tend to be a little more aggressive around the concept of religion, but he’s just aggressive in general. His friends and Henry are pretty quick to shut down his attitude.

So, no, they’re not Mormon, but they are ready and willing to help the people in their community if they need it. Henry and William, combined, they can do a lot of damage, but also be a great amount of help.

Makes it hurt even harder that said community didn’t reach back out to William when Evan passed on the basis of William’s very stark differences from the rest of his home, isolating an angry and grieving parent even more so than what was already there.

how the hell does that THING fit in Ben’s mouth????????????????? also i’d love to hear the story behind toby being “firecracker” because that honestly a PERFECT name for him i’m not sure why this is the first time i’m hearing someone call him that but i’m glad you’re the first

YEAAAAA Ben is a longtime snake-tongue-haver. So he has an extendable tongue :3 Most of the time, it hides in a pocket inside his mouth. Unlike a snake, it has width, so he's able to speak, although he tends to hyperextend or exaggerate his tongue movements while he talks.

For Toby, it took a long time to come up with an alternative name. Personally, I don't like calling him Ticci Toby. It's always kind of rubbed me the wrong way as someone with Tourette's, but I'm just one guy with Tourette's, so that's only my opinion.

I personally love callsigns and I use them pretty interchangeably for characters' names within dialogue. And the way you get a callsign is what you're known for forever by the rest of your team. Its usually something to poke fun. You don't decide what it is. And I tried to keep in as universe as possible for Creep Control.

For example, the boys: Ben's is Drowned. He almost drowned in a pool Briar brought him to when he was fourteen, which brought back a lot of buried trauma that was so terrible for the both of them that the only thing Briar could think to do was call him Drowned to make the situation somewhat better.

Cody's is X-Virus because he was an edgy thirteen year old kid when he made his email: xXxvirus696xXx, which he never stopped using, and Ben never shut up about it after he found that golden information out.

And Toby is Firecracker because he sets things on fire, he sets off explosives, like firecrackers, fireworks, explosive rigs, and has a very explosive and bright personality, which can get him in trouble for being very reactive and quick with a comeback. And personally, calling attention to his personality and skills is a lot more affirmative than being classified by a disability. And again, that's just personal :3
