Much like all reptilians snake pokemon do have a tendency to rub against their trainer and various familiar object to shed their skin. However for the shed skin ability, the old skin flakes off during movement in battle which is quite convenient for it

The serperior evolution line sheds a different way. At time it needs human assistance to remove the dead old foliage so new can grow new and stronger foliage

Bare serperior line’s unprotected skin is actually quite sensitive to the touch. The bare skin period is when they’re at their weakest

For the Steelix line, moss/rust removal is necessary when it comes to skin care

Regarding non deity pokemon

As confirmed by the pokeani, some entries/talk within the pokegames, and pokemovs, some legendaries have multiples of themselves. Pokemon such as Entei, Suicune, Raikou, the Lati@s, Zapdos, Moltres, Articuno, Mewtwo, The reggies, Lugia, Crecelia, Darkrai, Shaymin, Hetran, manaphy, and Deoxys are confirmed to have multiples of themselves. With that being said, whenever the protagonist of a game captures them. It does not throw off the balance as there are others to fill in the role. Whether it is the eldest or youngest.
