(So I'm coming back and just saying Ruko had been busy with his kid and taking time to be with his family)

(I know it's been a long time. My enthusiasm for the Pokémon franchise kind of died with Nintendo's lawsuit against Pocket Pair. TBH I don't think I'll ever be excited for new game releases like I use to be, but I can still enjoy the stuff I have and enjoy this blog despite that. This is something that I kind of forgot honestly)

Ruko didn't waste any time in heading over to the field. He was excited for a battle. A proper battle that would test him. He just hoped his abilities weren't too diminished from his lack of proper training and battle experience.

Upon arriving to the field he got into a ready stance with a smile on his face. "Don't hold back just because I'm rusty! Because I plan on putting my all into this match!"

Ruko would gently get up and stretch. Blackburn was insisting on watching and carrying their egg, and he was usually helping her watch games between the kids. But today was a rare day where he didn't have anything going on. "Gonna warn you that I'm a bit rusty with proper battles. My training with Terrakion mostly consists of using my own strength to stop the guy." But that didn't mean he wasn't up to the challenge. And he the mega stone in the necklace he wore would probably come in handy.

"That's... alright. Whatever you can... give to a battle is... fine with Pasha and I." He grips Pasha's pokeball before turning and heading for the battlefield. "Whenever you're ready, we'll be waiting." He calls over his shoulder. For now, he'd linger near the battlefield, but within distance of being able to remain in some shade.

Shadow stabs

Blackburn is to go to strike at Shadow for a moment. She knew he wasn't actually going stab her, but right now she was a protective mother.

"... Ruko. Would you... care to have a battle... with Pasha and I?" Grusha had been restless lately, and Pasha was more than up for a little fun. (flocessyranch)

(The events in this drabble would have taken place in December)

Blackburn had been inside watching a game when she felt a sharp pain in her abdomen and her legs were soaked. Thanks to living in a medical facility she knew exactly what was happening and she yelled for anyone who was in the house. It was full of urgency as she followed it up with, "MY WATER JUST BROKE!" Ruko had bolted in as fast as he could forgetting to grab anything that was needed as he helped her to the floor.

He was thankful when the rest of the family came in to help. Except his niece who was just excited to have a playmate coming.

Ruko had some experience with this, but all of that knowledge was out the window as he just held his mates hand. The two were focused on each other. And than Blackburn squeezed Ruko's hand pretty hard. With a couple of hard pushes an egg came out. A nice healthy egg that would finish the process.

While the process was not as bad as a live birth it still left the Cinderace exhausted and sore. And Ruko nursing an almost broken paw. But neither would complain right now as they had an egg of their own. Which meant, in another couple of months, their child would be welcomed into the world.

Despite this there was still plenty to do. Ruko would tend to his mate the best he could. Getting his room together for his mate and kid to have room would take priority once things calmed down.

Jackson can dance a little bit. He isn't the worst, but he's not the best either. He's skilled enough that he wouldn't look out of place at a noble's party, but for anything higher he might look a little stiff.

Caden can make make maps and diagrams, but that's about all he can do. Any actual art and it is pretty bad.

"Thing is Scorbunny come out of the egg ready to walk. Takes them a minute to figure it out." But now a new worry has gripped her as she reached a hand down to her prosthetic legs. She had never talked about why she had decided on cybernetics, but she figured now was as good as time as any.

"I'm also worried about...if they'll come out okay. See, I was born with a rare genetic defect. No idea why but my legs just...wouldn't work. I couldn't run around and play like the other kids. Jackson tried to help find ways to help."

She smiled remembering all the things he had done to try and give her just a little more normalcy. Before she decided on what she had wanted

"I...just...have to hope that whater happened to me doesn't get passed on."

Blackburn took the offered help with a smile and enjoyed the feeling of the Heal Pulse on her back. "I know. I just like sleeping outside under the stars. But you're right. I've got a kid coming, and it wouldn't do them any good." She let out a sigh as she sat down with a smile. She was happy Ruko had found such kind people to call family. And to be part of this family as well. But she really wanted to be running around right now! She just had to find ways to enjoy her hobbies without direct participation. "It's been nice sitting on the side and letting the kids play while coaching them anytime they want to learn a sport, or play one they know. But at the same time I hate it. I want to be up and running around. I want to be playing with the kids." She sighed and gently stretched her arms up.

Ashe offered a soft smile at her sister-in-law, "Well, think of it this way... soon enough your own kid will be learning from you too." She points out. "Trust me, I had a similar want to be out and about when Willow was a bun in the oven. I had to learn the hard way to be still." She went down to et Lucky on the head several times before turning her attention to Blackburn.

"That being said, I also don't mind taking a backseat to things now that Willow's here. I'm content with what I have." She went to pick up Lucky in her arms then, holding him in a way one might hold a Pikachu or some other small pokemon. "Question is, do you think you'll be of the same mindset or will things change? I'd say you're of the same mindset currently in wanting to be more active, but things could change."
