Lately I've been thinking a lot about my Amazing Digital Cryostasis / Cryosleep AU that I never really made any content for..

Like Pomni, I'm reeeeeally not into horror, even the Mildenhall Manor episode scared me a little, so this AU being existential horror in nature is very out of character for me. But I came up with the idea from watching the pilot and listening to the lyrics about the headset in Jax Toy. I kept wondering "where are their bodies?? why has nobody taken the headset off of them??"

I get the impression now that they're meant to be fully isekai'd, with their bodies having been literally sucked into the game like a Blue's Scadoo. But still, I keep picturing the real circus members in their pods, being monitored by C&A scientists, the headsets clamped on tight with wires going in every direction. Something reminiscient of the first concepts for VR, like this one:

But it would be hooked up to their brains, not just displaying an image before their eyes. There'd also be tubes of fluid and a glucose drip and oxygen and such to keep them alive, and a full-body suit to simulate sensations.

When I first watched the pilot it reminded me of the Star Trek Voyager episode "The Thaw", where the ai within a cryostasis program intended to entertain the people who were frozen had started to absorb their thoughts and fears and use them to fuel the entertainment, killing the human(oid) inhabitants one by one as they went insane.

In the end Captain Janeway outsmarts the ai and saves everyone who's still alive, setting them all free. I like to think the show will end in a similar way, with Pomni eventually freeing everyone or the game getting somehow shut down from the inside. It's entirely possible we'll get a bittersweet ending where they're all stuck forever, but at least they're together or something, but I don't think Goose will leaving us hanging like that.

Anyway, that's a preliminary rundown of my AU, you can read my original post from a few months ago on it for more details. I may eventually write/draw something for it, but for now it's in the brainstorm stage
