Weird Talents That The Gang Have

Ponyboy - Painting in his head; he’s able to see brushstrokes in his head, and envision a piece in a few seconds. It’s impressive how he can mix the colors together in his head, creating a masterpiece.

Sodapop - Soda is actually really good at doing makeup on his girl-friends. He once had to do some stage makeup for a play he was accidentally cast in, and it turned out really well. Now, he’s the unofficial makeup artist for every school production. 

Darry - Darry’s really good at cycling, but doesn’t get out much. He was a few magazines on Lance Armstrong, and really admires his strength and dedication to the sport.

Dally - Dally can swing dance pretty well. Back in New York, dancing was the real deal, and right before gang fights, they would take their girls out dancing just in case they didn’t make it back alive. He picked up a few moves, and actually became one of the best dancers on the streets.

Two Bit - He’s a fantastic singer. Sometimes when he’s drunk, he’ll sing a tune, and it’ll carry on into his hangover. Sometimes, he’ll even sing when he’s sober, and needs a distraction. Believe it or not, he’d kill female lead solos from musicals.

Steve - When Steve was in his freshman year, he was actually placed into calculus. He was a genius when it came to math and formulas, and excelled academically. He was an absolute genius in mathematics, despite doing average in every other subject.

Johnny - Johnny is super good at clothing design, and mending his clothes. Since he has no money for new stuff, he repairs it all himself. Sometimes, if a girl gives him fabric to work with, he might even make her a dress for a couple bucks. All of his creations are amazing, original, well thought out pieces. He gets a reputation around town as a “seamstress.”

The Outsiders Doing Modern!Hobbies

Ponyboy: Spends hours on end doing anything artistic; It’s hard to find him without a sketchbook and a pencil.

Sodapop: Definitely Youtube, no doubt about it. He’d have a few thousand fans, but they’re all in love with his looks and charming personality. 

Darry: Dancing, or anything acrobatic. He especially gets off on doing bars in gymnastics, as well as back flips. 10/10 his guilty pleasure when he wants to get away from the pieces of shit- I mean boys

Dallas: Believe it or not, Dally would be into collecting lighters and matches from different states. He has a box filled with lighters from all of the states that he’s visited, in different colors and shapes. But, he never used any of them, and only uses his silver one that he carries around everywhere.  

Two Bit: Again, believe it or not, Two Bit would be into calligraphy and wine tasting. Can’t a guy just enjoy the finer things in life once and a while? (He gets really drunk at wine tasting events tho, ngl. Poor Kathy.)

Steve: Not a surprise, but drag racing. He loves the rush, the thrill, the music, and the people. It gives him something to look forward to after his dad kicks him out every few days. (Sometimes he’ll even sleep in his car.)

Johnny: Even though he couldn’t read that well, Johnny would sure as hell try. He’d make little goals for himself, and try and understand the things he’s reading. He’s really dedicated. He also loves photography, cause he can’t draw too well.

Tim: Definitely push ups, pull ups, etc. He gets off on anything that can make him stronger, or show his strength off. 

Curly: Collecting broken shards of glass. I don’t know why, but he finds the shiny material to be fascinating. He keeps them in his night stand drawer, along with a few pocket knives that he managed to shop lift. 

Angela: Makeup, makeup, makeup. Her skin is always looking flawless, and she can always change up her look in minutes. She especially loves lipstick; reds and purples the most. They make her look like a bad ass warrior, and they show that she isn’t going to take anybody’s shit.

The Outsiders As Things My Friends Have Said

Ponyboy: *Points at copy of To Kill A Mockingbird* This is why I am such an intellectual, highly smart, very- *proceeds to fall off chair*

Sodapop: Sucks for all of you, I can’t go to college so I don’t have to pay student loans! Wait..

Darry: My brother never shuts up, I swear! He’s always doing something- OH MY GOD JONATHAN STOP THAT !!! (His brother tried to swing from the ceiling fan)

Steve: If I had a choice between shooting Hitler, and shooting Stalin, I’d still shoot myself in the head. 

Two Bit: Can I get high if I eat weed? I don’t like how smoking it makes me smell.

Johnny: We, as a society, must protect the superior race. The superior race is...kittens. 

Dallas: Honestly, everyone in this room has disappointed me in some way, and I’m disappointed to say that. 

Tim: *The room is virtually quiet while everyone is taking a test* I can’t concentrate with the amount of assholes in the room *proceeds glare at everyone and then walk out with his test*

Curly: *Shows everyone his jammed finger* I got this while fingering some super tight pussy !!!

Two Bit’s Secrets

Sometimes I can’t help but wonder why Two Bit acts the way he does, but I can’t help but make some theories. 

Just imagine 

- Two Bit doesn’t just drink for the kicks, but because the throbbing in his head gives him a distraction from any mental pain he might be feeling

- He’s always trying to be laughing even when times are tough, because he wants to be the beacon of hope that he never had

- (This one is based on the fact that Pony never mentioned Two’s father in the book, which leads me to believe he walked out) What if Two Bit isn’t just protective of Johnny because everyone else is, but because he wants to be there for him like a father, which he never truly had?

- What if another reason he always carries a switch blade is because deep down, he feels scared that one day a Soc just might try and kill him?

- What if Two Bit actually has real fucking emotions besides being happy and humorous all the time like any other human being? What if there’s just more to his character than the “happy go lucky guy” we always seem to see?
