some people refuse to think about the fact that a lot of the clans in naruto would be fairly inbred because it makes them uncomfortable.

However.... as someone with a degree in anthropology, you just know that the hyuuga clan are the scottish folds of the naruto world. Like you can't tell me that the side branch isn't actually where they place the significant portion of hyuuga who are a bit fucked up.

I bet it's one of the main reasons everyone is like "holy shit, Neji's actually physically one of the most powerful hyuuga to come out of the clan despite being in the side branch?"

Like there's probably a decent amount of still births and miscarriages among the clan, and even then there's probably a significant portion who are born blind. But because most of them are born okay enough to function, everything is okay. Who cares if many of them experience autoimmune disorders or arthritis or whatever it's not enough to significantly ruin their lives, and it's worth the practice because 10% of babies born are perfect

I just think it's absolutely fascinating to think about
