how is "transandrophobia is a bad word because it implies androphobia exists" any different than someone going (probably not hypothetical) "anti-transmasc is also a word you can't use because it implies anti-masc exists too". also how is it any different than queerphobes going "i'm not queerphobic, cause that implies it's a fear!"

The construction of the word itself isn't the problem on its own (even if it is a little silly imo).

The issue comes from the fact that a great deal of transmeninists subscribe to a (poorly understood) intersectional framework wherein the construction of the word *does* imply the existence of androphobia because that's what is being intersected with transphobia.

Enough people using the word and theorizing with it subscribe to that worldview that I think it is fair to criticize the semantics here since they are reflective of belief.

The larger problem, and the reason every single word that transmeninists have put forward is criticized, is that the label itself isn't the problem at all.

Transmisandry, transandrophobia, anti-transmasculinity, whichever word is used, it is still cover for the transmeninist belief that trans men do not hold systemic privilege over transfems.

If transmeninists really did want to just discuss the ways in which transphobia and misogyny affects trans men, they could do that.

But at the core of this whole debate is the idea that transmascs are not privileged over transfems on the axis of gender, and usually implied that from a sex-based oppression lens that *if* one group of trans people had privilege over others it would be trans women since we are "males" under that framework.
