  That was... it. That was the end.

Akane’s body was just there, lifeless, on the ground. He had no idea why it was in his home. He just knew... she was lying in a pool of blood...  He had a flashback of a distant timeline... Akane was lying there, in exactly the same position Akane was now, the same stab wound on her back, the same blood that had stopped pouring out of it, her eyes closed, forever. She was... dead. Dead. The only person he cared about so much was dead. No longer here. For the second time, he had let her be killed. “Aaaah... aaaah...” Before he knew it, his mouth was agape, desperately searching for air. He couldn’t breathe. His heart was accellerating, and cold sweat was dripping from his forehead. “A...ah... ah...” Did he want to say anything? No... what could he even say to a dead body...? “Aah... aaah... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!” His scream echoed inside the apartment. After that, his throat felt dry again. He was unable to move, Kyle was just... trembling. A panic attack was kicking in, but he fought it. He couldn’t allow to be stuck there, he had... he had too...! Panic in his eyes, he fled from the apartment, far from that body, far from where Akane was. It was useless to seek help. She was more certainly... dead. The thought made his heart throb in pain. He fought the need to lay on the ground and scream again... and run away. Before he knew, he had clinged to a bench, eyes wide open... and nothing reflected on it.  Of course, of course, Akane is dead... so he had... no reason to be there, right...? No reason to live at all... If the only person that loved him... was no longer here... It was like... he had no reason to be there at all, no reason to be in that world... He got to his feet again, even if they were wobbling. And he headed towards... God knows where.

Apparently he scrolled through his message history and found out Kyle’s address… it was most likely there because Kyle sent it to him for that time he was coming over to watch movies. Was it the sceintists’ doing? … Kyle tried to act composed, but he didn’t want to admit that just now, now that he was finally making a friend, Junpei had lost the memories of all their time together…!

“… Don’t worry about it, sit down and I will explain everything to you, maybe something will trigger your memory. Can I make you some coffee?”He had to help him, in any case…!

He surely had a clear recollection of hers, but now, without any hints, he wouldn’t have been able to pin down which one was the timeline where he met him. And she had also dodged his question, so it was a possibility that it was from when they didn’t end up well. Kyle had betrayed them a fair amount of times, so he wouldn’t have been surprised if Clover was avoiding the question for that purpose. “Actually, it seems like you all saw me without my mask in the history I come from, so I don’t doubt it.” A pause. “Whatever happened in yours... it is fine. We both just wanted to escape that place, it was just that.”

“A SHIFT, is it…?” Kyle wasn’t familiar with the term himself, but he knew more or less what it meant. He didn’t even remember when he heard it, perhaps from Akane after the AB game…

Ah, of course Clover would be worried about which game did he go through… “It’s not rude at all, do not worry. Actually, I was knocked unconscious the whole time during the game, but when I woke up, several memories of the different games came to me, suddenly. Unfortunately I cannot explain the awakening of my powers related to the morphogentic field, since I was never trained to use it…” Was it the case to mention that Akane had taken his place in that game? If this Clover had already gone through it maybe there were no problem, but maybe it was better not to mention it unless she asked specifically so. “What about you?”

{🍀} “You were… unconscious?” Well, she was certainly aware of how getting memories like that worked, although him suddenly getting access like that- was it sort of like how Junpei’s access seemingly got way stronger after the nonary game? Or at least, he seemed way worse off now than when she’d met him.

“I don’t think you were unconscious in mine… it didn’t seem like it, at least? Although, I never did get to see you without that mask, so I couldn’t say for certain.”
