"Don't worry I'm used to doing things like this. Sometimes even more out of the ordinary..." Like talking Raptures. But thankfully there weren't any of those here making a lot of the potentially fatal problems in Rapi's life that much easier without needing to deal with them.

"...It has a face?"
That however was a bit new. At least the expressive part. A bad memory that she didn't want to express herself but one that sat in the back of the nikke's mind. Even worse if it was a ghost...
"Roger. I'll keep that in mind."
THE LOOK ON HER FACE FEELS LIKE SHE DOESN'T BELIEVE HIM. honestly, he supposes he can see why that would be the case, given suitcases don't exactly float. maybe once she actually sees it she'll understand, though that was a matter of finding it and, in turn, with her help. ❝ I see. It got swept up in the crowd and whisked away, so I had thought someone might... ❞ that makes it a little more difficult, but nothing he can't handle, especially now that she's offering to help.
❝ Thank you for the offer. Only if you're positive in helping, though. I wouldn't want to trouble you in this place. ❞ not like he would want to trouble her anywhere, but... ❝ Mehrak is its name. It's gold and green with a little face on it. It can be quite expressive, so it should be easy to pinpoint once we get eyes on it. ❞

"You'd probably hate it. Then again I'd think it'd be harder to find someone who'd genuinely enjoy it rather then have it practically forced down their throat."
She did think of a few people right off the bat but even then splendamin truly was a mystery even to Rapi. Doubtful anyone could figure out the true reasoning behind everything. And each passing day managed to only further confuse Rapi on the subject manner more and more...
"Make our own? Like a bakery or a maid cafe. Only just for ourselves. That doesn't sound too bad. It'd probably be better to go over to your place anyway just in case. I don't want a certain neighbor trying to peep in without an invite."
Not that she really cared if Dorothy showed up. She knew at some point Fern would probably meet the Goddess member. But today just didn't feel particularly right for that.

"I'd like that a lot. Wanna go stop by now? We can even get extras if we're extra hungry."
ʚїɞ - "Even the food is artificial? That doesn't sound very appetizing..." She shuddered at the thought, actually. Magic wasn't used to just create food for similar reasons. You could replicate the idea, but not necessarily the flavours and textures. She was curious about what the food from Rapi's world must have tasted like now, but there probably wouldn't be an opportunity to try it.
Fern smirked at the suggestion of finding an "all you can eat" dessert spot. "Based on what I've learned, desserts tend to be the most expensive parts of the meal. If anything we might be better off purchasing the ingredients and making them ourselves. If you'd be comfortable trying it at one of our homes?"
Her housemates didn't often use the kitchen. But she also didn't have much experience baking.
"We could use my place if you're comfortable with that? You're under no obligation to do so, of course. Hm..." She didn't follow that last hum with anything. She'd just realized she'd never invited someone into her home before.

"It's certainly not."
The same idea passed through Rapi's mind upon arriving but she knew only after a few days and conversations that nothing was similar to the Ark. Even more damning was humans wandering around on what she initially thought was the surface, though there being no Raptures or any real "problems" also helped prove the nikke's point.
"Though it is nice to see a familiar face like yourself here as well." At least one that wasn't on a shaky foot like Dorothy was right now. Or someone she still needed to continue explaining everything to in order to get them up to date.

"More then half a year already. Can't say anything good has happened just yet." Not that she felt was worth talking about at least. "But I can say the city itself is much more unique then I could've ever imagined. Far stranger then anything the Ark could manage."
@powerofinheritance
🪞 A familiar face in an unfamiliar land returned a familiar pit in Cinderella's stomach. The sight of that fiery red hair was still something that her body would never forget, even though the one who wore it now was a friend. "Rapi! This city is rather beautiful, is it not? I was fearful about being here at first, worried that it might bring my Prince trouble for me to be mingling amidst the Ark, but... This is not the Ark, is it?"
She didn't feel any anxiety, but...
"Even so, what a beautiful reunion. Have you been here long? Now that I'm getting a good look at you, you seem more beautiful yourself. Has anything good happened to you?" It was easier to fixate on the Nikke in front of her rather than bring up what was bothering her.

The knock was unexpected given Rapi wasn't didn't think she made any plans. But coupled with the words that was said right after the nikke didn't know how to respond beyond opening the door and seeing who was there.
A pink creature? Puffy. Adorable even. Looked like something that be on the screen of a game Exia or the others would've been playing.

"...Cookie delivery?" Rapi said kneeling down to be at their same height. "Are you handing out these out for free? That's rather kind of you."
@powerofinheritance
Today, Kirby had decided to visit the Cotes Ward Townhouses.
There wasn't any particular reason to do so, but they did bake some nice cookies to share! Cookies that they've managed to save, and it looked really good. But instead of eating them alone, the puffball wanted to save them and hand them out! And maybe that way, they'll get to meet new people!
They've already knocked a few doors, while some they've left a few in a bag on the door knob. Now they were at 207! They stand on their tippy toes (do they have toes?) and knock the door.
"Cookie delivery, poyo!"

"You'd be surprised how many advances in technology managed to make it over to where I'm from. Practically everything is artificial, even the taste of things. So while eating is the same I can already tell the taste is that different."
The only thing she could really compare it too was fresh food as opposed to something one took out of the freezer and threw straight into the microwave. Sure it was at its core the same the differences added up to make a completely different meal. One that Rapi wouldn't deny tasted far better then anything the Ark had to offer...
"Well we could always go and find one together. I'm sure there's at least some places around here that wouldn't have too much of a rowdy crowd and still offer desert. Maybe even all you can eat if we're lucky." If either of the other two Counter members were here they would've been pulling both Rapi and Fern off to find one right now despite having the treat in their hand already. But the idea didn't sound nearly as bad as she thought.

"If you want of course. Would be nice to see what else these places might have."
ʚїɞ - Such a small gesture wasn't something Fern really registered as "giving a gift". It was a small token of appreciation between friends, and she didn't really think of it much more deeply than that. "It's still a little surprising to me that you can eat food. I don't understand modern technology very well, but until I met you I was under the impression that it wasn't possible..."
Her experience had been very lacking in that area. "Besides. It's nice to spend time with someone whose temperament is closer to mine. I enjoy spending time with noisier people now and again, but it's comforting to be with someone calming like you."
"I think I can understand their sentiment. If presented with a table full of sweets, I would eat as many as I could as quickly as I could. But sweets are also something of a luxury item in my world." And that was the excuse she was running with!

also since I (finally) read the epilogue to the recent event I'm pushing up Rapi's canon point to the latest main story (34 -> 38). Nothing power wise different but she's about 3x more talkative now depending on the situation.

"You'd be surprised at what some of these stalls really have laying out here. I've only walked by a few and I feel like I know way more then I should..."
While the individual probably wasn't expecting a response Rapi couldn't help but interject her own thoughts on the matter right as she slid on by next to the individual, eyes looking down towards the box of trinkets out on display and for sale.
"Worst part is something like that makes it pretty obvious there was some importance to it. A confession of love, maybe a keepsake that got lost, it could really be anything..." It was only then that the Nikke managed to find a necklace decorated with various charms, none of which screamed out a particular lifestyle to the now studious Rapi.

"And then other times you have to just wonder what the story is behind it. If there is any to begin with..."

"A floating suitcase? I can't say that I have yet, or really at all..."
Part of her wanted to believe that his eyes might've been playing tricks on him rather then such a real thing actually existing. But the expression on their face said it all, a mix between exhaustion and wanting to get out of here as soon as possible. Both of which were incredibly valid reasons, ones that she felt she needed to help at least with the bare minimum with.

"Two sets of eyes are better then one however. So if the two of stick together and look in different directions we're bound to find your "floating suitcase" sooner rather then later."
fibonacci ward: android hell
JUST GREAT, A RAVISHING PARTY THAT WAS, well, a rave no less. he hadn't expected to be corralled into the establishment. in fact, it was all mehrak's fault, having gotten brought in by some stranger who thought it was a device. and now it was up to him to find it, leading him to find someone else who seemed just as out of place in this entire thing. he raises himself, only for a large bass boost to happen cutting off his voice, only adding to the exasperation.
❝ Ugh. I can barely hear myself... ❞ this felt like an oncoming headache. ❝ Excuse me. Have you seen a floating suitcase around? ❞

Though she wasn't expecting a gift right off the bat Rapi shouldn't have thought any other way when it came to Fern's kindness. It felt comparable to how Marian treated others, although unlike her innocence which felt like a product of everything that happened this felt more closer to an actual friendship. A strange feeling for sure but one they weren't opposed to considering their circumstances.
"You really shouldn't have, but thanks." The nikke said taking the cone with the her hand before taking a test lick to see if taste still held up. And unsurprisingly it did.
"I know plenty of others who would want to smother it all in toppings. But I feel that detracts from the actual flavor of everything else. Not to mention the cone itself once you finish it all off..."
ʚїɞ - "Is that so?" Fern liked Rapi's company. She was calm and collected like her, and she didn't really react strongly to anything. There wasn't much of a chance of Rapi causing a scene. Not that she disliked people that caused a ruckus like Sein or Stark, but people like her master or Rapi were more her speed socially.
"Could I get two of the strawberry, then?" Rapi's words had seemingly been enough to help her decide, and after paying with her phone she accepted two cones. One was held out to Rapi. "Here. Consider it a thank you for the advice." She wasn't wanting for Dust with all of the odd jobs she did.

"Not myself no. Though I do know a few people who would jump through plenty of hoops for some of their favorite flavors."
Rapi wasn't one of them of course but she knew that some of varieties were more then enough to get hundreds to line up. Somehow this truck wasn't nearly as packed as she thought giving them ample time to still decide on what the two wanted. Though she still didn't want to take too long for the one attending the them either...

"I think my personal favorite is strawberry. It's not too overpowering but its still sweet enough for me to enjoy the rest of the everything."
@powerofinheritance
ʚїɞ - "I've had this before. It's sweet, but a little cold. Still... There are so many flavours to choose from." Fern had been restlessly looking back and forth as well as up and down at the menu of a stationary ice cream truck with Rapi in tow. Thankfully there was no one behind them or they probably would have gotten as fed up as the server seemed to be.
"Have you had any of this before, Rapi? Anything you would recommend?"

"Scarlet?" The name was fortunately familiar to Rapi, although that was all she really knew about the other Nikke. Sure it was obvious they were a swordsman compared to any other one of them as well as one of the hailed members of Goddess but that's all they could garner. Pilgrims always were the hardest to find out more info on regardless of how nice or talkative they were.

"Personally no although we've had a few encounters with them in the past. The last time we met was handing off one of our friends who needed sanctuary to her and their allies."
Which did make her wonder how Marian was doing, even after their "last" update from the other two back in the hometown.
"But I suppose we do know each other on a certain level. Even if I doubt she might not remember me..."
@powerofinheritance
𝟬𝟳 - "Perhaps I'm mistaken, but you wouldn't happen to know a swordswoman name "Scarlet", would you?" She was a peculiar woman that EVE had met on her travels. If she was to be believed, she had ended up in her world through mysterious means. One of the outfits EVE had been able to purchase, well... It was identical to the one this woman was wearing.
"Perhaps I'm mistaken, but she carried wares that remind me of your costume, and spoke of something called "Raptures"?"

"I'd really appreciate that." Rapi said stepping into the store, even if she couldn't nearly put as much emotion into her voice as she wanted. But getting at least some suggestions could bring her down the right path...

"Like I said before music is not my strongest suit. Really I'm surprised I caught on with what she listened to so easily."
Sure there were other reasons but she wasn't about to admit them out loud. Nor did a complete stranger need to hear a long extensive backstory of an individual he just met either.
"The melodies of who plays it can be all over the place at times. Some are slow and others want to be as fast paced as possible while still conveying the same amount of emotions in their songs. It's impressive that despite both being so different they still carry the same amount of weight in their words."
An amused smirk creeps onto Legato's features, and he chuckles under his breathe.
" I see. I understand, " he looks down to the key hanging in the door's lock, shimmies it a little, and locks it back up. Legato tests the handle a little, and turns around to face the woman, content to kill some time. Participating in small activities-- passive ones-- these were things that the disciple was learning to do on a daily basis. This was living, apparently.
" Maybe I have some time before I have to settle in for my first appointment, " Legato muses, depositing the keys back into his coat pocket, and moving towards the record store next door. The owner had already opened up shop for the day. How lucky for this curious woman.
" There are a few records that I've enjoyed lately, I could give you some recommendations, " when he speaks, he make sure not to take up too space. His volume is low, and his words are said carefully. Legato opens the door to the record store, and allows his company to step in first.

"Trust me even some people who use it all the time don't even know how it completely works either." Maybe Rapi was speaking somewhat from her own experience. Compared to some of the others she met their own knowledge on it paled, almost to an embarrassing degree. Still better that then having absolutely no knowledge at all either.
"Rapi. It's nice to meet you Fern. I'll be sure to keep that in mind in case I have any questions. Thank you for your time today helping me out today."
The Nikke's words may have been a bit formal but if she was going to be trapped here for however long being cordial was the best thing she could be till more things came up that could use her help. Whenever that did happen she'd be ready but for now a little R&R to herself wouldn't hurt.
ʚїɞ - Fern nodded slowly regarding the question about her phone. "It was the first thing I had to learn how to use when I arrived. You can manage a lot of things with it, and it was the most convenient way to access the internet. I don't exactly understand how it works, but I know how to use it." And that was as far as she was willing to learn when she didn't even understand the basics of modern technology.
She pulled out her own cellphone and tapped it against Rapi's. There was a ding, indicating they had been added to one another's favourites on their contacts lists.
"My name is Fern. No surname. If you would like to speak more, feel free to reach out even if you don't have a question." That was Fern's way of implying she would like to be friends.

"Something like that. Though I think she'd probably say something along the lines of "This here is real music Rapi! Nothing beats this!" Rapi tried her best impression at Red Hood's usual jovial voice compared to her own self. She knew if anyone else was around they'd get a good chuckle at it but thankfully it was just the two of them.
"Before I met them I barely listened to anything at all. Even years after we met I really just let anyone pick what they wanted to listen to. Only recently I've been trying to find some new things out. Though I haven't had much success really."
Until today. Or at least it seemed like things would finally be going her way with this find...
"Want to take a gander together?"
" Oh, " Legato joins in on staring at the front window of the vinyl shop. He rented his space from the same landlord who owned that storefront; he'd lingered in there more than a couple of times to check out what they had for sale.
" Yeah. The music in there is like nothing I had heard before in my life. It is transfixing, isn't it? " He looks over to the redhead, waiting to see whether or not he agreed with his thoughts. Most of the music he had listened to-- more so, endured-- back home, had more of a country twang to it, or it was suitable for jazz bars. What he was finding in downtown Golden Ward was more up to his speed.
" It's almost like it speaks to you. Is that how your friend felt? "
