What do you do if your client in Interior Design is unhappy with the design concept?
Tumblr media
Listen and empathize
The first thing you should do when your client is not happy with the design concept is to listen and empathize. Try to understand their expectations & ask them to clarify what they like and dislike about the concept.
Review the brief and the contract
The next step is to Remind them of the goals, scope, budget, and timeline of the project, Explain the rationale behind your choices and how they meet the functional and aesthetic requirements of the space.
Offer alternatives and solutions
The third step is to present them with options that are feasible, realistic, and consistent with the project's objectives. Explain the pros and cons of each option and how they affect the overall outcome and quality.
Document and confirm
The fourth step is to document & confirm the changes and agreements you make with your client. Make sure you both sign and date the document and keep a copy for your records. This will help you avoid any confusion or miscommunication
Follow up and deliver
The last step is to follow up and deliver on your promises. Keep your client updated on the progress and status of the project. When you present the final design
Here’s what else to consider
This is a space to share examples, stories, or insights that don’t fit into any of the previous sections. What else would you like to add?
