my hot take of the day is that if you’re disabled in a way you don’t want to disclose, it’s okay to lie about having a better understood disability.

If you have trauma around gunshots and hate fireworks, you can say you have sensitive hearing. If you get sensory overload that causes shutdown, you can call it a migraine. If you’re plural in a way that involves amnesia, you can just say you have poor memory.

And furthermore if anyone lied to me like this? I would be okay with that. Because I’m not owed disclosure of anyone’s disabilities, and I’m okay with people lying or omitting the truth in these situations to protect themselves.
