I humbly suggest that true crime freaks should get into learning about scammers instead of serial killers. I LOVE reading about fraud and grifts and pyramid schemes. true crime ppl have all this paranoid energy about murder, which is rare in the grand scheme of things.....maybe instead that could be channeled into some productive rage toward capitalism.

It's kind of impressive that Tumblr still has the same broad atmosphere as always after all this time, but I do miss when it was more populated because there's really no other online space that feels so full of weird, fun, creative women just posting straight from the gut. Instagram is woman-heavy but it feels like posting is everyone's job there. Bluesky is more of a news feed for guys workshopping their current events tight five. Something wild and free about this place.

ur right, and I do think there’s a gendered intersection happening. my friend told me after she transitioned that her mom’s toxicity shifted to more of what her cis sister experienced growing up. I do kind of wonder if it’s like “you have to be a capital W woman on my terms”.

i often feel kind of alienated because I know so many people that like fawn over their mothers, even when i know their relationship is far from perfect. I know not everyone’s mother is as abusive as mine is, but reflecting on it has made me realize how much society gives the pass to moms to exert their control issues, especially on their afab children.

It’s almost treated as like this unchangeable thing in society that “moms and daughters just have rough relationships” and that moms should see their daughters as extensions of themselves. instead of you know, encouraging them to view all their children as beings that may be interdependent for a long time but are ultimately autonomous beings. In this way i think narcissistic thinking is kind of encouraged or at least accepted.
