what tony found exhausting about finally showing up at stark industries was... everyone started rushing towards him as soon as he entered the building with thick files in their hands. yes, he hadn’t slept in ages and the headache he was suffering didn’t help him at all. “’m hungry.” tony whined to happy as he handed him his coffee. “you’re never hungry. shut--” “oh, look! finally! someone to lighten my morning!” he pointed at pepper, who was talking to men tony didn’t recognize. rushing towards her and making his employees around smile adoringly at him as he placed his hand on his -fiancee-’s lower back and pressed a soft kiss on her cheek. “morning, beautiful. gentlemen--” he turned to shake hands with the men before them. yes, like he’d warned her before, tony could be caring when he wanted to be.

“ i did. ” with a gulp, tony avoided his gaze. okay, pepper had always been to come up with reasonable ideas but... this time, tony had nothing to say. the only reasonable idea was calling the engagement, fake engagement off. 

  “ okay then. i’ll be the caring boyfr--fiance, sure you ready for it? when i want to be caring, i can be deadly caring, pepper. ” it was going to be fun though. he’d be teasing her in public.  “ no one will notice. we’re always like this. i bite you and you bite back. ”

      “did you NOT listen to any of that?” pitch ran high in her voice as her clenched fists came to rest just about her hips. “i mean, the last few weeks i’ve been thinking about going back on this, but it’s too late now and i’ve realized that – if we’re going to do this, we should do it without hesitation… and maybe with a better plan.”

      “– will you just, slow down, for a second?” exasperated, the redhead let out a sigh. “i mean, if we’re in this – we’re in it for the next… two months, and then we call it off. i need a schedule for this. a proper plan, because we’ve been winging it up until now and people are going to start noticing.”
