the way langdon’s wedding ring and the bracelet his kid made him is so visible during the confrontation with robby by the lockers makes me feel so crazy like intentional or not i just really love the visual framing of it. you have langdon literally waving his hands around desperately asking robby “could an addict do what i do?” and his gold wedding band is reflecting the light and the colors of the cute little <3 DAD <3 bracelet are such a stark contrast to the sterile white of the hospital and it grounds his character in a way that is so devastating. it’s like yeah buddy. an addict could do every last part of what you do. and you’re living proof. bc you’re an addict and you’re doing it and yes you have a wife and a family and a highly respectable job that you’re very good at and you’re still an addict bc anyone can be an addict and the facade you’ve carefully crafted for the world does not render you immune to addiction

I believe Jack Abbot is a man full of quirks and little fun secrets.

Everyone knows him as your typical nightshift ED physician, and even if he avoids mentioning it, there's a certain aura that follows him when people find out he's an amputee and a veteran, some interns and young nurses are a little scared at first before getting to know them and realize he's actually a pretty chill guy. 

One day, he comes to work with scratches on his forearm. Turns out the neighbor's cat has been staying with him for several days, and it gets worse every time he has to give it back. He found out things are easier after a treat. Ellis cleans the wound and gives him some food and treat recommendations. He now has 2 cats of his own. 

A nurse once told him about her pilates classes and how they've been helping her rheumatoid arthritis. He looked into it and had a long conversation with her about the origin of Pilates, which he didn't know. He joined her class a couple of weeks later, and Robby is seriously wondering why Abbot is so insistent on taking him to a class for his back. 

He hears the younger nurses talk about pop culture every now and then. Somehow, they realized he's actually pretty well-versed in them. One time, they were debating between Team Jacob and Team Edward; when they asked Jack, he said "I find both annoying. I'm team Emmet".

From then on, nurses started to ask him questions to test his knowledge on pop culture and gossip about it with him. Dana raises an eyebrow when he comments on the "Hailey Bieber and Selena Gomez drama".

He thinks those Labubu toys are so cute and has one in his backpack. One of Dana's daughters saw it and now it has a little onesie and a hat. Jake made fun of him for it, but still asked if he could steal it.

Another time, he invites all of the Pitt to his house, an excuse to use his new grill. He’s an amazing cook. As the years go by, he has mastered the art of good food. Everyone praises him, he just smiles and nods as he puts more meat on the grill. 

He now hears about all the love drama of his female coworkers. Hell, he even knows what’s going on between Collins and Robby, from her, not him. His therapist is a little tired every time he mentions another lover's quarrel that does not involve him. 

He pours his heart into his job, and he thinks people don’t notice. But they do.

abbot: er doctor. veteran. combat medic. amputee. widower. goes to therapy. fakes measurements to allow an abortion for a young girl. gives blood while actively treating patients. copes in dark humor. a yapper. talks his friend off a ledge he was just on. listens to a police scanner on his day off. volunteers to come in on his day off. makes sure people know they're doing a good job.

Only been watching The Pitt for a few days but Mel King is THE best autistic character ever written in a medical drama. She doesn't "make connections no one else can" or "just see things differently" or any other Savant with Special Abilities stereotypical bullshit, she's a resident physician who's exactly as intelligent and capable as any other resident physician in the same year. She hates unnecessary yelling because it's loud and annoying, not because she's completely incapable of handling conflict. She usually keeps her stimming subtle enough to hide but sometimes she can't. She loves having a furry critter to pet. She accommodates an autistic patient by lowering the lights and closing the doors because she understands the sensory nightmare of an active medical setting. She speaks in a straightforward and honest way but she isn't an overtly rude inconsiderate asshole. She misses some jokes and takes things too literally on occasion but she does have a sense of humor and she is funny. She speaks up against misinformation and parent panic about autism and other developmental disabilities. She has emotions. She looks at a video of a lava lamp on her phone to chill. Doctor Mel King you have my entire heart
