Is there any reason republican journalists are reporting on this months after the documents became public

I have virtually no idea but hey… no matter what side of the political spectrum you’re on, it’s always and forever free Luigi

i don't know what goes through people's heads when they make such insensitive comments, i mean i thought it was clear to everyone that people usually tend to gain weight and muscle in prison, there's nothing wrong with it.
he doesn't look unhealthy and this is all that matters, i hope he can afford to take care of himself in there, even though i assume you can't really do much, but since the picture got confirmed to be legit, he didn't look unhappy, he was smiling! let's keep the positivity going! as long as he's healthy, looks shouldn't matter.
plus this king got a mean face card and more muscles would make him look even hotter
Xx

❗️trigger warning❗️

Being thinking about the body shame discourse, it’s just such a reflection of our little sick word. Luigi looked almost underweight when arrested, like compared to Hawaii Luigi and surgery recuperating Luigi you can see the weight loss. We know he basically broke contact with family and friends for over six months and sent a detailed message to a friend that said “life has gotten tough and nobody understood him”. I think he was going through something when he got arrested (beyond the obvious) and yes, weirdly enough, he looked beautiful.
The Luigi in the recent photo looks healthy and we should always wish for people to be healthy, especially when they are a political prisoner. Calling him fat or chubby just reminds me of people who see other people happily posting their recovery pics or just general pics of a celeb that gained healthy weight and they comment saying they looked better before, like fuck you.
What saddens me it’s the possibility of people dropping their support because of a change in appearance. I’m going to say, you’re disgusting if you think like that and are horrible human being.

this is another one of the birthday letters

and although not as poetic/heartwrenching as some of the others, this is a reminder to everybody sending him anything through freeprints to add proper margins so that he's able to read the address and reply :3

🚨PA STATE UPDATE🚨
1. Luigi Mangione requested the court to schedule a hearing on pretrial motions
2. The prosecution (Commonwealth of Pennsylvania) replied to Luigi’s request with their own filing :
he’s “unavailable” to physically appear in court and asking that he be allowed to appear remotely. (a.k.a the request we saw a few days ago)
3. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania said in a motion that they put a detainer on Luigi to have him in Pennsylvania when he is physically available
/!\ a detainer doesn’t force the other place to give the person up
4. The prosecution says Luigi is “unavailable”
-> under Rule 600 because of a letter from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in New York, sent around June 20, 2025
Basically, it says he’s staying in federal custody until his case there is totally finished (federal)
5. The feds are keeping Luigi until they finish prosecuting and sentencing him (federal)
6. The U.S. Marshals* won’t honor any request to hand over Luigi to Pennsylvania, even temporarily.
* a branch of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ)
7. Thomas Dickey argues that the prosecution has to do more than just ask NY and take “no” for an answer and that they need to pursue legal procedures to get Luigi in Pennsylvania.
8. The prosecution thinks that just sending a motion and getting that letter back is enough
9. This is enough under IAD* but not in his case because Luigi is not serving a sentence (Luigi = pretrial detainee/NOT CONVICTED)
* Interstate Agreement on Detainers
10. The Commonwealth can’t use IAD and instead must go through the Writ of Habeas Corpus Ad Prosequendum process* to legally get Luigi is Pennsylvania
* a formal legal order that lets a court or prosecutor temporarily take a person out of custody just to deal with charges in another court
11. The writ (under 28 U.S.C. § 2241(c)(5)) is a official court order asking the feds to transfer temporarily Luigi to PA for trial
12. The Pennsylvania state prosecutor has to file that writ in the federal district court, not the state court. They must explain why they really need Luigi to show up in person. if approved, the U.S. Marshals bring him to PA and return him to NY after.
13. Commonwealth is treating the detainer like it’s the same thing as a writ (but it’s not)
Supreme Court in Mauro (1978) : a detainer is not the same thing legally
14. A detainer doesn’t force anyone to send the defendant over and it’s not enough

aight i'll bite
leaving behind the argument about how that photo looks and whether it seems real to the naked eye (which to be honest it doesn't but that doesn't matter because tmz verified it's real so no more questions about it), the body shaming that has started because of that photo is really weird and as with all body shaming, completely useless and unwarranted and unacceptable
because i already know that telling people off for body shaming will not work here for a variety of reasons (mainly because of fatphobia and socially acceptable forms of body shaming and also because people see him as a tool they can mold according to their wishes and also see him as an object that should just look pretty according to their standards and isn't a wholeass adult human being by himself) i'm just going to talk about why for somebody like him who looked like he did in his hawaii hottie era (that era started from around the time he was a junior at penn) and later looked so gaunt like during the perp walk, it is actually a good thing to gain some weight
gonna add the bmi thing here for reference (i know it's nowhere near perfect and shouldn't be used to talk about a specific category of so called healthy weight but like for the sake of this stupid conversation, please just let it be)

firstly, he's 5'10"/5'11" and during the time of his arrest he weighed 140 pounds, he was toeing the line to being underweight at that time and that's NOT a good thing!!! it doesn't matter if he looked hot or resembled some impossible in reality but definitely looks like he's modelling renaissance sculptures, it's supremely unhealthy and nobody should be wanting him or anybody else to be underweight (also if anybody thinks being underweight or just skin and bones is a cool thing, then please take better care of yourself and try to learn to love yourself and ignore people wanting you to look like you only have a layer of skin over your bones)
second, the way he looked like in his hawaii hottie era, he defo weighed around 155-160 pounds at the very minimum so for him to lose like a significant chunk of his weight because of various reasons and look as gaunt as he did during the perp walk is definitely very problematic and unhealthy
because of whatever reasons i stated, if he's gained some weight and looks healthier it's a good thing!! and people supporting him or claiming to support him should rejoice that he's doing better than he did some months ago when the world learnt of his existence
claiming he's overweight when he's not only in the healthy weight category but also regaining the body mass that he had when he was at his fittest is not just extremely weird and unwarranted but also a very problematic stance to hold because it shows that the people who're saying that would rather watch him look like a sculpture instead of being healthy and fit
i don't know if people who were body shaming him would at all care about any of this but whatever was being said by those people made me very mad so here goes nothing

what do you think is the most endearing thing about lu? my list is so long and I’m curious about you (and everyone else on luigiblr tbh)
One of the things that still really sticks with me is how reassuring, encouraging, and genuinely sweet he was when replying to people in the r/spondylolisthesis thread. He was so supportive as they shared their experiences with back pain with being diagnosed, feeling misunderstood by doctors, going through diagnostic testing and imaging, and even considering surgery. He was literally just a stranger on the internet, but he took the time to truly hear people out, validating their pain and frustrations with the healthcare system and also sharing what he similarly had gone through. He understood exactly what they were going through because he was living it too, and unfortunately, that kind of empathy is rare these days, even from people you know in real life. Yet here he was, offering it freely and anonymously to strangers online.

Luigi as a twin dad omg 😭
Yes!! What’s better than one baby with Lu? Two!
Twin Dad Luigi HCs & Drabble
🍼👶👶💤
———
🖤 Girl dad x2 energy. They’ve both got his curls and your eyes. One’s a quiet observer, always studying, and the other is pure chaos gremlin—but he adores them equally, fiercely, with a kind of devotion that cracks his chest open daily.
🖤 You’ll catch him standing in the nursery just staring. Hands on his hips, a little overwhelmed, a lot in love.
“They’re really ours,” he says like he still can’t believe it.
🖤 He learns how to swaddle better than the nurses. Wears both twins in a double front-facing carrier like a proud marsupial dad.
“Don’t worry,” he whispers to them at 3am, “Daddy’s got you. I always got you.”
🖤 He insists on doing skin-to-skin time. Shirtless, both babies on his chest. You walk in and melt on sight—he’s half asleep, one hand on each tiny back, whispering stories in that low voice like,
“Once upon a time, your mommy looked at me and I knew I was fucked for life…”
🖤 He buys matching onesies that say:
“Mangione A” / “Mangione B”
“Copy” / “Paste”
“I cried first” / “It’s your fault”
🖤 He keeps mixing up their names, even though he swears he doesn’t.
You hear him whisper, “Wait, you’re—shit. Don’t tell your mom.”
You always know. You don’t tell him.
🖤 One day he catches a random man glancing at your chest while you're breastfeeding both twins in the park.
Luigi: 😐🔪 “They eat here. You don’t.”
🖤 The first time one of the twins says “Dada,” he actually drops to his knees and cries. The baby just pokes his nose and giggles like "what’s wrong with this man."
🍼 Drabble:
You come downstairs and stop in your tracks.
Luigi’s in the living room. On his back. Shirtless. Two tiny bodies snoozing on his chest — one curled under his chin, the other fisted into the collar of his tank top.
He looks up, smiling sleepy and soft.
“I was only supposed to put them down for a minute.”
“You are down.”
“Shhh,” he whispers, stroking one baby’s back. “They like it when I’m the bed.”
You sit beside them on the floor, heart aching. “You’re really good at this.”
He looks at you — tired, glowing, and completely in love.
“I had the best practice,” he says. “You.”
You kiss his temple and curl up beside your three favorite people, and the last thing you hear before you drift off is him whispering:
“My girls. My whole damn world.”
