Years ago, in the Outlands, Penelope Ford wasn't just friends with Maxwell Friedman; she had also teamed up with the daughter of the Sea Witch, Shotzi Blackheart, for all kinds of mischief. However, an attempt to prank the especially mean Cruella De Vil led Penelope to seemingly fall off the docks and into the water. Shotzi initially laughs, but begins to get worried once Penelope does not surface after a while. Penelope had actually caught a rung before she fell, and dumped a bucket of shrimp on Shotzi's hair to get "revenge". No matter how much Shotzi tried to wash her hair, the disgusting smell never left. Penelope nicknamed Shotzi "Shrimpy" and had rallied almost nearly everyone in the Outlands to call Shotzi this instead of her real name. From that day forward, Shotzi swore that she'd get revenge.

This is around the time when Shotzi decided that it was time to join a crew, hearing that Captain Hook was hosting a race and was going to give the Lost Revenge to whoever won. She was quick to join the race, and even made a deal with Captain Hook's son, Hook Junior. If he were to win, he will be the captain and she the first mate, if she wins, vice versa. She wins the race and the ship, recruiting other rogues to join their crew. Shotzi learned from a fellow employee at Ursula's Fish and Chips restaurant that Yen Sid knows where the pieces of Ursula's necklace are; once it's finally re-completed, it will be able to seek out the trident like a magnet.

Further research revealed that Yen Sid had given it to Mickey Mouse when he visited the Pride Lands after relocating to the Outlands in order to teach. She has now directed her pirate crew to Pride Lands in the hunt for the Mouse family.

Ursula: Ursula is Shotzi's mother who Shotzi shows a lot of resentment towards. She has this belief that her mother doesn't care about her unless she needs someone to work the night shift. Whatever the case may be when it comes to that, it's no denying that they would both benefit from going to family counseling, but it's up in the air if either of them want to do that.

Hook: Shotzi is Hook's captain while he is her first mate. They consider themselves as each other's oldest friend in the Outlands. They are always up for mischief and adventure. Both of them have accelerated piracy: hostage taking and threatening as their favorite subject in Outlands Prep before the school was destroyed.

Jacy Jayne: The girls bonded when Billy Butcherson had brought Jacy to the ship, which he did in order to keep Jacy far away from her crazy aunt Winifred. In need of friends, the two grew closer, and quickly became best friends. They get along very well despite a few minor differences.

Penelope Ford: Shotzi and Penelope were partners in crime as children. One day, Shotzi thought Penelope was drowning and went in to save her, but when she realized Penelope wasn't drowning, Penelope dropped a bucket of shrimp on her head before calling her "Shrimpy". Penelope was threatened by Shotzi's evilness and felt that she needed to take out the competition.

sea magic: Like her mother, Shotzi can manipulate the ocean at will with the power given to her by Ursula's Necklace, which usually manifests as yellow energy glowing in her necklace.

spell casting: Possesses the power to change and control events through the use of incantations and recitations.

water mimicry: transform body into water or manifest herself through it. Shotzi can transform herself into bubbles of water and water vortexes.

sea life mimicry: Shotzi can manifest herself through swarms of fish and other sea life.

water manipulation: possesses the power to manipulate water.

sea life control: can communicate with sea creatures in the ocean.

cecaelia transformation: upon entering the water, Shotzi can transform herself into a giant cecaelia like her mother; a human with the lower body of an octopus.

swordsmanship: Shotzi is capable to withstand a sword fight with Lost Revenge's Crew.

swimmer: Shotzi can swim. Unlike other people in the Outlands, Shotzi could live underwater if she really wanted to and it wouldn't bother her lungs.

necklace: without the necklace, Shotzi is unable to perform any of her sea magic, which does include water mimicry, sea life mimicry, water life manipulation, sea life control, and cecaelia transformation.

SPOTTED:  The Bad Girl, probably heading off to either steal candy or trying to sneak inside of some pretty extravagant party. It goes without saying that there are a lot of secrets hidden in her closet. She is the most feared girl at her previous school because of her reputation. Though, in the Outlands that only means most popular.

As the daughter of Maleficent, Penelope wants to be like her mother: pure evil. Yet whenever she tries to prove herself to her mother, she often tends to disappoint her instead. She really enjoys coming up with wicked schemes and wrecking havoc and is the most feared girl in Outlands due to her reputation as being a super bad girl. She isn't fond of beautiful surroundings or anything pink, calling them gross, but she does sometimes wonder about how life would be like away from Outlands. Despite this, she is not necessarily immoral; she's just really misguided. Her "mean girl" facade is mostly an act, likely because she does not want to be seen as weak in her mother's eyes; being evil is the only way that she could be respected by Maleficent, who never cared about her. Penelope is driven by her desires to please her mother. This causes Penelope to often prioritize her objective over the feelings of others, especially those of whom she manipulates in order to achieve her goals. Despite this, Penelope's goals are not her own, but her mother's, and this causes Penelope to become morally conflicted and increasingly reluctant to carry out her objective.

Maxwell Friedman: Maxwell lost his virginity to her when the two were rather young, and Penelope never lets him live that down. But there is more to it than that. Sparking a relationship with Maxwell -- one of business, of course -- means that the two get exactly what they want. To bring down Wheeler Yuta. A goal that her mother requested for her to do while she was there. There wasn't much in it truly for Penelope at first, until she found the delight in the scheming. That, and there was the fact that Maxwell has promised her a favour in return, should she ever need it. With someone as powerful and as scheming as Maxwell Friedman under her thumb, who knows when she will need it. If taking down the Pride Lands means gaining the respect from her mother, and maybe even have a chance at staying there, Penelope will do anything in her power to get what she wants.

Orange Cassidy: If there is any way Penelope will successfully help Maxwell get the crown, it's through Orange Cassidy. The other two seem far too intelligent and skeptical. No one knows of the partnership she has with Max, and that's how she wants it to stay. And her plan to deceive the best friends into thinking that she's on their side in order to convince Yuta not to take the throne, seems easiest where Penelope knows best. If she is able to capture the attention of the sloth friend and even convince Yuta not to take the throne... maybe, just maybe, she can get the foot in the door she needs in order for her plan to work. And a cute face sure doesn't hurt. He's so aloof, and luring him out is proving to be a difficult task -- but not an impossible one. Spotting the way his facial features change the moment she walks over to him, Penelope knows she's getting her way.

dark fairy magic: Being born a half-dark fairy due to her mother Maleficent, Penelope is able to use the same magic as her mother.

eye-colour shifting: can change her eye colour from normal to a neon green.

spellcasting: Penelope has casted a wide variety of spells like a hair changing spell, feast spell, sleeping spell and many more.

potioncraft: She is able to make a love potion and antidote to make someone fall in and out of love with her and a truth serum to make people speak what's on their mind. However, if an animal eats it instead then it'll make the animal talk.

dragon metamorphosis: Just like her mother, Penelope can turn into a dragon at will and typically does this in times of need.

iron: The slightest contact could burn her skin, and prolonged exposure could weaken her dramatically.

SPOTTED:  One of Yuta's best friends, trying to search for a place to take a small cat nap. Behind those sunglasses hides tired lines underneath his eyes we are sure. Neither of Simba son's friends are a Descendant, but queen Sarabi allowed them access to be there for emotional support.

Orange Cassidy embodies laziness through his ever-present drowsiness and fondness for napping, and because of this he's even been given the affectionate nickname Sleepy. As his nickname implies, Sleepy’s primary trait is his unending fatigue, often seen with a pair of sunglasses so that nobody can tell he always has drooping eyes and battling to stay awake throughout the day, occasionally he won't bother to and just fall asleep wherever he lays down. During his time spent in high school, if it wasn't for the fact that some students have tripped over him while walking to class, they wouldn't have even known that this guy had even existed in the first place. There were students that didn't even bother to step over him, but had actually walked on him while getting to there destination. When he actually isn't sleeping, Orange loves to binge watch a lot of movies and even has a spot on Chuck’s public-access television show, Gentleman's Club, where he expresses whether or not the movie is worth checking out. He decided to attend Pride Lands Prep to take some college classes after his parents started harping on him about the fact that he doesn't do much with his life.

Chuck Taylor & Wheeler Yuta: Orange met these two during their first day of school, and since then they have been best friends. All three of them had been considered losers at their high school, but it didn't matter to them. They have each other after all, and that is all they need.

Penelope Ford: Frequenting the classes at Pride Lands Prep, not to mention some of the other places that Orange goes to for fun, this girl is everywhere in sight, and he doesn't get why. Is it his eyes that catches or, or is it the fact that she is just.. everywhere he is? And yet, every time he spots her, he can't seem to take his eyes off of her. And even though he can't help himself, he finds himself frequently being unnecessarily rude to her at times, just shrugging her off and trying to ignore her. All the while, Orange is completely oblivious to Penelope's true intentions.

SPOTTED:  The long lost prince, trying to adjust this information that he just learned about not too long ago. You can't really blame the guy! How often do you spend most of your life thinking that you're one person, and then find out that you are actually a prince. It would be a lot for anyone to take in.

Wheeler Yuta was born in Hawaii and raised by his single mother. Yuta had never met or knew his father as his parents broke up early in his life, only knowing him through stories and some photographs and aware that apparently one of the reasons behind their decision was due to his grandmother's disapproval of their relationship. Despite his father not being present in his life, Yuta had often received gifts and letters from him every year on his birthday and also paid for school field trips that he wanted to attend. However, Yuta remained unaware of the truth that his father was actually royalty, the Crown King of the Pride Lands, making him a prince. Yuta's family had decided to keep the truth hidden from him and both his father and grandmother would keep their distance and not be involved to ensure Yuta would have the chance of a normal life and planned to reveal the truth once he'd graduated from high school.

Yuta grew up in a renovated firehouse with his mother and pet cat, Fat Louie, worked at a comic book shop part-time and attended high school with his two best friends, Chuck Taylor and Orange Cassidy. Yuta is often viewed as invisible by his peers to the point that he is sat on by other students, never noticing his presence. Yuta is also frequently bullied and humiliated by the popular people at his school. One tike even getting asked out by a popular girl to the school dance as some cruel joke. Although Yuta has struggled, he was happy and content with his life and simply wished to get through high school with a minimum amount of attention and embarrassment as possible. In the months leading up to his sixteenth birthday, however, Yuta finds out that he's half human along with being half shapeshifter, but can only turn into a lion. And the weirdness hadn't stopped there neither! After his first year in college was completed, his life soon changed forever as his grandma, Sarabi, contacts him for the first time wishing to see him. During her visit, Sarabi reveals to Yuta that he is the Prince of Pride Lands. Instead of continuing to attend school at the community college, Sarabi tells him that he has to attend Pride Lands Prep for a school year, where he will have a chance to take any classes that he wishes along with private classes on how to be a prince, getting to learn the lifestyle before making a final decision on if he will take the throne or continue living a normal life. If he chooses the later then this could mean potential danger for Pride Lands as the throne will go to Scar's hand-selected heir, Maxwell Jacob Friedman.

Orange Cassidy & Chuck Taylor: Growing up Yuta didn't have too many friends, but the two that he does have is Chuck Taylor and Orange Cassidy. The three of them first met during their first day of kindergarten, and since then they have been rather close to each other. All three of them had been considered losers at their high school, but it didn't matter to them. They have each other, and they consider each other to be the brother that they've always wanted.. especially since they have been through everything together. This is why when Yuta's grandma Sarabi informed him that he will have to attend Pride Lands Prep for a year, she allowed Chuck and Orange to come along with Yuta for moral support if they wished to.

Trent Beretta: Trent was the first person that Sarabi had made sure to introduced to Yuta and his friends when they first arrived at the school, considering the fact that his adopted fathers, Timon and Pumbaa, were close pals with king Simba. They'd taken Simba under their wings when the young lion cub ran away from home after his father passed away. With that in mind, Sarabi thought that it would be a marvelous idea if Trent helped Yuta and his friends learn the place, along with help Yuta get a better understanding of his powers so that they'll strengthen up.

Maxwell Friedman: And just like the salt of the earth Maxwell is, he will wreak havoc upon Yuta and all associated with him soon as he gets his hands upon him. Possibility of even losing the crown again ignites a fire within the young Friedman, one boiling with a whole lot of determination to ensure that Scar looks at him from his grave with pride this time around. And anyone who knows the youngest Friedman, knows they shouldn't get in the way when he has his mind entirely set on something because he always gets what he wants. But it looks as though Wheeler Yuta isn't afraid of standing up for what is right, and one can’t help but wonder whether that is something to be afraid of in itself. He is the son of Simba after all.

shapeshifting: kind of similar to an actual shapeshifter in the sense that maxwell can change into a lion at will. he can become a lion whenever he feels like it. when the lions tribe is threatened, they can change into a lion form in order to fight the threat.

superhuman strength: possess a level of strength drastically beyond what is naturally possible.

superhuman senses: ability to perceive and process sensory stimuli with clarity and range beyond human norms.

superhuman agility: ability to adjust body position with ease and grace beyond human norms.

superhuman reflexes: have drastically better reflexes/reaction time than what is naturally possible.

accelerated healing: increase the speed of one’s regenerative abilities each time one is damaged.

superhuman hunter: can hunt better than any mortal or other species. like any typical lion, they hunt by ambush. fanning out, they form a semicircle, with the smaller lionesses herding the prey towards the center. a lion's vision is roughly six times more sensitive to light than humans, giving them a distinct advantage when hunting at night. aside of using this for capturing food, maxwell will also use this to attack someone.

lion communication: lions communicate in different ways using sounds like roars, growls, moans, and grunts. also, by leaving scent markings and through visual signals. a lion's roar can be heard up to five miles away. this is a warning to other predators and to protect their territory.

weaknesses

stamina: one of the main weaknesses is stamina. the lions have poor stamina in comparison to other shapeshifters. while they can sprint at 50 miles per hour for short distances, they tire easily and often give up the chase.

swimming: while they can swim, it's not their favorite activity. they find it challenging to move around in water.

lion's bane: a lion can be weakened or even killed by exposure to lion's bane, depending on the method of exposure. inhalation of purple lion's bane has been shown to disable their accelerated healing ability and has been shown to provoke him terrible hallucinations. the blue lion's bane is fatal while yellow lion's bane can weaken, sedate and even kill the lion as well, depending on the method of exposure and potency. the only known ways to cure the poisoning of a lion or other cat like creatures is by burning out a wound caused by a lion's bane laced weapon or applying to the wound the ashes of the strain the lion was exposed to.

daylight: their vision is roughly six times more sensitive to light than humans, giving them a disadvantage of walking around during the day without wearing a specially crafted pair of sunglasses that makes walking around in the day easier. what makes the sunglasses so special compared to any normal pair is the fact that they are designed for this specific reason.

SPOTTED:  The Chosen One, making his second year return to the Pride Lands. I'm surprised that the royal court even allowed for him to return considering his family was the first ones to get banned. Maybe he will surprise us while he is here.

The Friedman family lived in the Pride Lands under the reign of Scar, who hand selected Maxwell to be his heir since Scar didn't have any biological children of his own. Sometime after this, Simba returned to the Pride Lands, battled and defeated Scar, and took his place as the rightful king. Maxwell's mother protested that Scar had chosen Maxwell to be the next king, but Simba asserted that Scar had not been the true king since he wasn't the first born. In retaliation, Maxwell's mother attacked Simba, but he defeated her easily. Afterwards, he banished baby Maxwell, his family, and all of the other villains to the Outlands, an island slum surrounded by a barrier so none of them could disturb the peace of the Pride Lands. A year ago, several years after being kicked out of the Pride Lands, he received an invitation to attend Pride Lands Prep after his former school had been destroyed. If queen Sarabi can't convince her grandson to take over as king then we could very well see Maxwell finally rule Pride Lands.

Penelope Ford: And this is where Penelope comes in.. he loathes having to resort to the one person he hasn't quite faced since losing his virginity so long ago, but if there's anyone that could deceive Wheeler Yuta and convince him to abandon the crown, it's the manipulative one herself. Everyone knows Miss Ford is a wonder at deception and scheming, perhaps even greater than himself. She does whatever it takes to get what she wants -- and for Maxwell's plan to work, he needs someone like that. Though their association was once one of pleasure, it is now nothing but business. But the only way to get someone as talented as Penelope on his side is to give her an offer she can't refuse. A fun scheme, and a favour -- for whatever she needs, whenever she needs it. And of course, Penelope accepted instantly, for she knows connections and favours are everything in the Outlands. It just goes to show, Maxwell Friedman is willing to sacrifice, and do, whatever it takes to get his hands on the crown.

Daniel Friedman: Daniel is shown to openly support Scar's plan to make Maxwell the next king, understanding the fact that Scar came to this decision due to the fact that Maxwell is the younger brother, much like the position that Scar was in himself. Throughout their childhood, he would even help his brother accomplish all of the lessons that was in his way.
