Fugitive heroin dealer brought to justice after 29 months on the run
The son of a drugs kingpin has joined his father behind bars - after two-and-a-half years on the run.
Shahbaz Mohammed, 31, was snared with £100,000 of heroin in 2007 at the mansion he shared with dad Sultan Mohammed, 53, and the rest of their family.
He failed to appear in court in August 2008 and fled to the criminals' playground of Dubai.
He was eventually arrested two months ago and admitted drug dealing at the High Court in Glasgow earlier this month.
The Sunday Mail revealed in March that Shahbaz's dad - jailed for five years and three months - is a key ally of Daniel crime clan boss Jamie Daniel, 53.
We also reported that a children's nursery connected to the Mohammeds had been seized in a mult imillion-pound dirty money probe into a property empire linked to the family.
Shahbaz was arrested in October 2007 in a Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency raid on the family's Rockwood home in Barrhead, Renfrewshire.
Sultan and his wife Nusrat, 53, their sons Faisel, 23, and Anil, 33, and their daughters Samia, 29, and Zeemat, 26, were also nicked.
They all appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court but the charges against them were dropped after a secret deal saw Shahbaz taking the rap.
However, rather than face justice, he got a one-way ticket to the desert kingdom of Dubai, which is a magnet for celebrities and crooks.
A warrant was issued for Shahbaz's arrest in September 2008 but he remained a fugitive for 29 months.
He was represented by Gordon Jackson QC, who has previously defended his father and scrapyard boss Daniel.
Shahbaz, a former bankrupt with previous convictions for assault and perverting the course of justice, admitted drug dealing and previously failing to attend court.
The drug dealer, whose family supplied the Daniel mob, masked his dirty money by declaring income from a shop in Shettleston Road, Glasgow.
Judge Lord Turnbull remanded him in custody and deferred sentencing until next month.
