A  god  in  miniature  ;  Pharoah  of  nothing,  grasping  at  shadows  of  greater  kings  on  the  wall.  Diaochan's  mismatched  eyes  turn  to  them,  face  formed  into  serene  derision  at  the  admittance  of  ignorance.  In  her  inward  arena  :  a  chorus  of  laughter.

She  smiles,  guessing  her  way  through  the  motions  of  a  nice,  polite  girl,  a  naive  innocence  without  the  stain  of  ulterior  motives.  How  did  the  saying  go,  again?  You  catch  more  flies  with  honey  than  vinegar?  And  they  had  the  stench  of  a  corpse  about  them;  should  luck  have  it,  she  may  find  a  few  maggots  of  a  beginning.

Diaochan  was  gestated  in  a  glass  womb  with  synthetic  amniotic  fluid.  She  was  not  a  child,  but  a  creation;  through  illegal  DNA  modifications  and  experiments,  every  aspect  of  her  body  was  decided  upon  by  her  father.  Her  height,  her  mismatched  eyes,  her  hair  .  .  .  And  most  importantly,  her  intellect,  which  would  mark  her  as  a  centurion  prodigy  of  the  genome.

She  had  one  purpose:  to  restore  her  father’s  impoverished  noble  house.

Diaochan  would  devote  herself  to  the  work  she  was  made  for,  even  going  so  far  as  to  arrange  for  her  own  cousin's  poisoning  when  he  stood  in  her  way,  thus  halting  her  from  taking  charge  of  the  family  and  regaining  their  former  prestige.

She  does  not  believe  herself  to  be  a  genuine  creature,  let  alone  a  real  human  .  .  .  In  her  eyes,  she  has  flesh,  but  not  a  soul;  she  has  no  right  to  wish  for  anything.  All  there  is  for  her  is  to  make  a  wealthy  return  on  her  father's  investment  and  die.

Diaochan  :  prodigy  of  the  genome,  a  scientist  hired  by  the  RDA  for  their  Project  Pheonix  recombinant  avatar  program,  living  upon  Pandora  to  oversee,  repair,  and  modify  the  hybrid's  physical  bodies  as  needed,  among  other  duties.

While  exceptionally  young  (  *  age  variable  )  for  such  a  campaign,  she  has  already  had  prior  relations  with  the  Resource  Development  Administration  when  she  privately  sold  them  a  drug  of  her  own  design,  meant  to  better  ease  human  bodies  into  cryosleep  and  alleviate  space  sickness  .  .  .

Although  everyone  involved  in  such  a  trade  knew  the  real  purpose  was  as  a  suppressant  weapon  against  the  Na'vi,  for  which  she  was  paid  extremely  handsomely.

Whether  it's  by  keeping  the  avatars  in  shape,  harvesting  the  planet's  flesh  and  blood,  or  simply  by  finding  some  new  way  to  kill  the  Na'vi  .  .  .  Diaochan's  ultimate  goal  is  to  make  as  much  money  as  she  can;  to  perform  perfectly,  and  restore  her  name's  prestige.

Diaochan  Lovelace  is  the  ruling  Queen  and  representative  of  Neomenia,  a  terrestrial  planet  located  in  the  Core  Worlds.  She  rose  to  power  after  usurping  her  father,  executing  him  after  accusing  him  of  grave  crimes.  This  left  herself  the  sole  member  of  the  Royal  House,  and  a  dictator  in  all  but  name  (  although,  in  truth,  her  father  had  been  no  better  )  .

With  the  planet  and  its  various  satellite  colonies  severely  impoverished  by  previous  rule,  Diaochan  has  devoted  herself  to  restoring  her  realm.  An  extreme  power  seeker,  innovator,  and  tyrant,  she  is  allied  with  the  Galactic  Empire.

She  has  made  Neomenia  the  galaxy's  centre  of  matters  pertaining  to  the  body,  including  but  not  limited  to  cloning,  healing,  amputations,  surgery,  and  (  genetic  )  modification.  Her  crowning  achievement  is  the  creation  of  a  number  of  secret  drugs  and  procedures  designed  to  prolong  and  restore  life.

Do  not  let  Diaochan's  understanding  gaze  or  hopeful  words  fool  you  :  she  is  a  tyrant.  Of  science,  of  morals,  of  philosophy.  To  her,  there  is  nobody  who  knows  better  than  she  for  the  humanity  she  loves  so.  That  elegant  smile  falls  to  a  sneer  as  soon  as  you  deny  her,  an  expression  that  has  killed  many  a  distant  cousin  or  wise  politician.

There  is  nothing  as  dangerous  as  telling  her  no.
