Okay, this tripped me up because most of the time, when you have kids, you are your kids' legal guardian. "Make sure to designate a legal guardian" doesn't mean "hire a lawyer to represent your kid" or "pick which one of you can make legal decisions for your kid," it means write up a document delegating your authority to care for and make decisions on behalf of your child in the event that you get arrested, removed from your home, and are unable to make those decisions yourself due to being in prison on bullshit charges.
