Greetings and welcome. I am Rufus Shinra, Vice President and Heir to the Shin-Ra Electric Power Company. I am a very busy man and do not have much time for idle chit-chat, but if it is important, I can spare you a moment. [Indie Before Crisis/Crisis core era Rufus Shinra. WIP]

Dark Nation pressed her head into Blue’s hand, her short tail wagging, and panting happily. She sat near the infantrywoman, looking up at her gleefully. Rufus allowed a small chuckle, pushing his hands into the pockets on his coat.
“Yes. I’ve had her for… goodness, almost ten years. Guard Hounds are incredibly long lived if kept properly.” And by that, he meant kept out of the way of the army, or out of the labs. He watched the animal with a fondness that was rare for him, but… well, next to a select few people, she was his closest friend.
And she was practically putty in Blue’s hands. She was good people.
The elevator arrived with a pleasant ding, and Dark Nation’s ears perked up. Rufus snapped once, and she returned to his side, just as happy as he had been at Blue’s. “Shall we then?”
princeofshinra has come to make a deal
“Oh.” she nodded, even better then she wouldn’t have to worry about fucking up and getting them lost. Which would probably tell that she actually lied and didn’t know her way around the plate as well as she had expressed. “Easy enough then.” she nodded at him. Though she was still getting used to remembering plates and sectors, and… slums and not slums. Top plate, bottom plate. Aye. So confusing, Seattle wasn’t this confusing. Up town ,down town, Inter- okay maybe it was.
She looked up at Rufus when he spoke, waiting for Dark Nation finish sniffing her hand before very gently brushing it over the top of her head. “She’s beautiful.” she said absently. A bit weird lookin’ but not too different from the animals of her world. She wondered if dogs or cats were a thing. I mean Cait and Dark Nation, but. “She’s been yours for a while?” she asked. She could tell that Dark Nation was protective of the boy, and was thankful that she was graced with good favor. Not that harming Rufus was in her agenda. Though a good tiny slap to the face might be necessary later.

Oh dear.
In retrospect, this was among his poorer choices and ideas. Looking down the long blade of Masamune was intimidating, but he was fairly sure that he wasn’t going to get slaughtered.
Well. In the literal sense. He could practically feel the ass kicking he was going to get already.
“Freyra.” He slipped his white jacket from his shoulders, his eyes never once leaving the eight feet of steel leveled at him. The Turk left her spot near the wall to retrieve his coat and hurried back to her safe distance.
The other SOLDIERS backed away. Rufus took up the sword that Zack offered him, twirling the hilt once in his palm to gauge the weight. It was meant for those who had augmentations. It was not at all like the thin rapiers he had once wielded in fencing lessons some years ago.
Still, it was all he had.
Sliding one foot behind him, and lifting the blade with one hand, he frowned, eyes narrowed. He swept the blade up before his face before letting it fall to his side loosely, signaling his readiness.
Four reporting
The silver hair swished to a stop when his legs stopped carrying him, the General, who had been facing the other SOLDIERs got a look about him that seemed to alarm the others. “Zack.” he turned to the youngest, the boy nearly merging with the wall with how fast he jumped up against it.
Yes, sir?
“Let Mister ShinRa borrow your sword.” he muttered lowly, turning and drawing Masa, the distance between them let maybe a foot from the tip of the blade to Rufus’ face. “Lets make your father proud then."

“Of last time.” He sighed, “Right.” His gaze was unamused and heavy on Reno, judging him silently. Of all the lousy jobs Tseng could have chosen…
His gaze flicked to the woman as she spoke, and one corner of his mouth tugged down.
“Oh, I’m aware.” There was a pointed tap under his desk, which sounded like the rattling of a gun, before both hands reappeared topside. “I am armed.”
Dark Nation was sleeping behind his desk on her bed, curled beyond the sight of the doorway. He glanced down at her quickly before looking between the two Turks.
“Reno and I have met many a time.” His voice was dry, “You, on the other hand, are a new face.”
Legionverse has made an appointment
"Heeee might have yeah. Boss’s order Boss." He shoved his hands into his pockets, with a shrug. "He said you needed to be looked after. No repeats of last time, yo."
Fiamma glanced at Reno and rolled her eyes slightly. Right piss of the babyBoss. Wonderful way to start the first day of the new assignment.
"Also to keep you safe sir. There are those who more than likely wish you ill."

Detail?
He was in his office. Why did he need detail?
“…..” He sat back and rolled his eyes, pressing his index finger and thumb against the bridge of his nose with a sigh. The girl was quiet. He could live with that. Reno, on the other hand…
“Tseng put you up to this, didn’t he?” From the sounds of things, this was punishment for Reno. Why was he the one who had to see through it? Usually he was informed of such things before they happened.
Legionverse has made an appointment
Fiamma glanced at Reno as they both stood before Rufus’ desk, hands folded behind her back. She was silent, Reno was the mouth, she just….corrected it.
"Detail." He grinned at the white dressed young man before them. "Or…babysittin’ duty. I might have been a little…nah it don’t matter. Just that we are here to be gofers and make sure no one tries to off you, sir."

Legionverse has made an appointment
The blond glanced up through the fringe of his golden blond hair as the door to his office opened, humming faintly.
Turks.
One familiar, one not.
“Reno.” He greeted calmly, “and… company.” He set his pen down and laced his fingers together, sitting back in his chair. He mentally braced himself for a conversation with the red-haired Turk. Reno could be… trying on his patience more often than not.
“To what do I owe the oh-so-pleasant intrusion?” He prompted, arching his eyebrows expectantly.

“I ought to ask you the same thing.” The young vice president studied the pale woman carefully, fingers laced together against his lips, his elbows propped up on his desk. Ice blue eyes narrowed at her, scrutinizing.
“I do not recall having an appointment at this time. Did my secretary let you in?”
Sensing 6 nearby

“I can feel you from here child. Is there something you want of me?”

“Ah, good.” He sounded pleased, “We won’t be leaving the plaza beyond Sector Zero, but it is good to know one’s way around the city.” He positioned himself with his back against the wall near the elevator doors, his eyes still on his hound.
She sniffed at Blue’s hand as it was offered, attentive and friendly.
“You may pet her, if you want to.” He allowed quietly after some pause. He trusted his Guard Hound’s judgment of others, as it had yet to lead him astray. Usually his detail, if anyone other than the Turks, who knew the animal, were wary of her, and she reveled in that. This was new, and put the vice president at ease.
princeofshinra has come to make a deal
Blue was still by far more interested in Dark Nation. But forced her attention toward the Vice President. “Ah I see.” though why they trusted a runt like her with the Vice President was beyond her. Maybe because he was kinda a jerk, and no one wanted to deal with him so she was stuck with him. Highly possible. Regardless she walked a step behind him to his side as she reached out to press the elevator button. “That won’t be so bad, I know the plate a little better now.” than before. Cloud had showed her around.
At the comment she smiled, looking down at Dark Nation with a soft chuckle, “Yeah?” she gently held out a hand, “I think she’s pretty great.” more so than your owner, sweet little creature.

Was that annoyance on the General’s face? Rufus felt a small victory in that, and a smug smile curled at his own lips.
“Really? I’m off the hook that easily?” Part of him warned him of baiting the SOLDIER, but another part of him wanted to see how far the general would go.
“How tragic. My father will be oh-so disappointed.” His hands rested gently at his sides, a stance he had learned in his own training, canting his head slightly.
Yes, challenge the General. This was not one of his best plans, but he never was one to resign so easily.
Four reporting
The General raised a brow, lip twitching. He didn’t perform for people who didn’t appreciate the program. These SOLDIERs worked hard, the Infantry worked hard. Very little recognition came their way. Sephiroth crossed his arms, they may have been heroes but he was seeing very little agreeable nature in the young ShinRa boy.
"Then we’re done here, sir." the General looked over his shoulder at the others. "No need to show you what you do not desire to watch." or care for.

Rufus seemed amused at the interactions between his Guard Hound and the infantrywoman. Dark Nation’s tail wagged harder when she was addressed, but she paused and looked up when her owner once more placed his hand upon her head.
“Ah, no.” He frowned at the thought, “No, simply meeting and greeting. I would likely be given a Turk detail were I giving a speech.” That wasn’t far ahead of him, though, and so he had to be prepared for it. A good way to test the waters was to meet some of the populace, no matter how little he liked the idea.
He gave a half-nod, sighing.
“I suppose there’s no use in dawdling.” He glanced down at Dark Nation Again, making a soft noise of thought.
“She likes you.”
The Guard Hound in question’s tongue lolled out.
princeofshinra has come to make a deal
Her attention was far more interested in Dark Nation. By far more a dog person than a people person she turned her attention to the perked ears and wagging tail of the creature. She grinned, “Hi-” She withdrew her attention when her name was spoken. “Ah yes sir.” she nodded as he repeated her name. She looked at him with a curious head tilt.
“Please a crowd, all right.” she folded her arms behind her back, “Shall we then? Are you giving a speech?”

Rufus’ detail, a female Turk with long cinnamon brown hair, was a small ways away and attempting to fight down laughter. Her hand was over her mouth, in an attempt to look concerned. The creases near her eyes gave her away.
The vice president himself didn’t seem to notice, however, he snorted and lifted his head, shaking the bangs from his face with a single flick to the side.
“I am here because it is required of me.” He replied, his voice cold, fists balled at his sides. SOLDIERs murmured to his left, but a single glance silenced them.
“It does not mean that I want to be here, but my hands are tied, General.”
Four reporting
The General took a chance and luckily he wasn’t getting held at gun point by the boy’s detail. Maybe no one really wanted to take on the SOLDIER, after all it’ take the whole Infantry to take down even a third. Imagine a first.
“If you aren’t interested, why are you here?”

His eyes narrowed at her. Such callous disrespect. While he had been going out of his way to be affable, there was a limit to how casual he would allow others to be with him.
“I am the Vice President.” He sniffed, “It is my right and my place to know the goings on within the company.” He gestured at her flippantly before his hand folded back into the crease of his arm again.
“Like the fact that the printer in the lab is down. You ought to get someone to see to that.” Was he going to tell someone for her?
Nope.

Her laughter prompted a soft snort.
“How unfortunate for you.” He studied her for a moment, thoughtful. Hojo must not have run her ragged just yet. She still had spunk.
“And that would be why you are here, then. Outside the labs. Reports.” He prompted, folding his arms once more.

Dark Nation seemed very interested in her, her short tail wagging against Rufus’ foot. Her ears were perked towards the soldier, and he glanced between the two in the time it took her to answer him. Interesting. She didn’t usually react this way to people. He squinted minutely before looking back to her.
“Anna Blu.” He repeated, folding his arms so his index finger curled against his chin, and his elbow was supported by his hand.
“Yes. I have to go please the crowd.” He had just recently been appointed Vice President, and the populous had not yet gotten to see him in action.
It was about time to remedy that.
princeofshinra has come to make a deal
Blue felt her hand drop to her side and she shifted the weight of her feet. Her eyes immediately dropped to Dark Nation, a smile finding her features. She was reminded of her own pet, back home. Ah…she really hoped Nightwing fed her. He knew she disappeared sometimes. They were going to have to write out like a parenting clause. John probably wouldn’t enjoy being part time father to her baby. Well not that he had a choice, he already agreed to watch the apartment, the least he could do is- Oh god she was going to come home and Kaiju was going to be a trained attack dog-
“Hm?” she snapped back, “Ah, Anna Blu, Fourth Division.” she replied, refraining from saluting again. Wow, they really beat that into her. “You wanted to go into the square, sir?” she asked.

He lifted both eyebrows, and the smug look of amusement he wore before vanished.

“You don’t know who I am?” Wow, that was a punch to the ego. Sighing, he shook his head and rolled his eyes.
“Rufus Shinra, Vice President.” He drawled, “Though if you’ve been trapped in the labs, I can understand how you might miss that sort of information….”

To say that Rufus was alarmed with being taken off his feet was an understatement. He had not been expecting to be attacked, and was caught completely off his guard. With a startled and undignified cry, the Vice President fell backwards onto his rear and his hands, scuttling back about a foot in the instant in which everything in the room froze. His gaze flicked between the surrounding SOLDIERs before returning to Sephiroth. His eyes narrowed, and he gritted his teeth, pushing himself to his feet and dusting off his now not-so-pristine white suit. His face burned, and he tried to play it off, straightening his lapels and snorting. His mind was reeling. He could hear the ridicule from his father already, if word of this found its way to him. ‘You should have been paying attention!’ He was almost certain that tyrant of a man valued the General more than he valued his own son. Unsurprising. “So you did.” He huffed curtly, his voice reaching through the training space with ease, but with an edge so sharp some of those in attendance took a small step back. “My… apologies, General.” He ground out between his teeth, “… Continue.”
Four reporting
The unamused attitude of the President’s son brought pause in the SOLDIER. There were many a thoughts that crossed his mind. First were of respect. This was the President’s son, young, naïve, still working out the kinks in life. Then, disappointment. Because while the president was not model, he expect more of a child. He didn’t pretend to know the home life of the ShinRa family. But he at least expected a little attention from the younger. He was being friendly for Gaia sake. Sephiroth watched as the boy’s attention diverted from him. More interested in his nails, more interested in anything in the room that wasn’t the SOLDIER program.
He could hear Zack exhale in behind him. Genesis and Angeal equally probably finding this display a waste of time. Sephiroth waited till the gaze of the President’s son left him again, and with a swift motion a foot kicked out, swinging under the small boy’s feet. Knocking him down.
“I did say pay attention.” Sephiroth stood up right. The air froze, Zack stifled a laugh and Angeal covered his face. Genesis had never looked more pelased.

Rufus snorted a half-hearted laugh. Hojo was rarely around the labs? Unusual. Or perhaps she just did not encounter him as often as other staff members.

“Lucky you, then.” He hummed, “Miss….?”
