It’s been a month. A month since you decided to walk away and erase me on your terms. It left me questioning everything. It left me with an ache in my chest and a hole in my heart. It left me laying on my bedroom floor for hours with nothing but the feeling of tears on my face. It left me wondering if I’d ever find a peace of mind. But it’s been a month. And I wanted to say thank you. Thank you for leaving. Thank you for breaking me. Because during this time of loss, I actually found myself again. I found myself and felt more myself than I have in a long time. I found my roots. And truly, truly, I cannot thank you enough. For opening my eyes and teaching me what I do deserve. So thank you, so much, for pulling my soul in beautiful ways while things were good and for teaching me what I deserved when things went sour. I’d like to mention a saying I once read, ‘It wasn’t loving you that made me stronger and better; it was losing you that did.’ Waking up without you has finally been able to put a smile on my face instead of lump in my throat. Thank you for helping me grow when you decided to leave.
