Baby turned 1! I made a birthday banner and a birthday cake. Dada took the day off so he could spend it with us. We went to the splash pad, Baby helped me make his birthday cake, and we had a really simple + beautiful day together.

Birthday banner is made with traditional patchwork piecing, fiddly but really satisfying. The cake is a family favorite: Hershey's chocolate cake (mods: reduce sugar to 1.5 cups and add 2tsp espresso powder to boiling water) with cream cheese frosting. Comes together really fast and simple.
