I just thought of something. Despite how bad Wish was as a movie, it was actually great for Disney's 100yr anniversary on a meta level. Lemme explain.
In this very well thought out analysis, Asha would be the stand-in for Disney fans. The film begins with her full heartedly supporting king Magnifico (Disney). In this case, the founding of Rosas would be the creation of the Disney empire, with humble origins of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves that quickly grew into something massive. The Rosas we see in the beginning of the movie would be Disney in their prime as basically everyone loves it.
Of course, with Magnifico being such a big inspiration to Asha, she'd obviously want to become his apprentice (Working in the industry/getting hired by Disney). At first things go great! The two bond over something (Animation) and how much they love it. But things sour when Magnifico reveals that not every wish is granted (Disney begins favouring ideas and decisions that would bring in more profits), disheartened by this, Asha and the King fight (Disagreement between the creative and corporate side of Disney) before she is leaves the castle (The animators begin to leave/get fired by Disney while fans begin noticing the decline in quality). I guess At All Costs becomes a metaphor for the diverging focuses of the fans/creatives vs the executives that want ✨️money✨️.
So when Asha does her "I want" song, it's like the fans beginning to look elsewhere for the animation masterpieces that Disney used to produce. This would make Star represent animation studios like DreamWorks and Laika. Of course Magnifico (Disney) finds out and throws a hissy fit, trying to look for star (Begins their buying spree of every major creative company like Marvel and Pixar). I guess when Magnifico tells his subjects to look for the traitor and they ask for a wish is Disney throwing a tantrum when its fans tell it they want good products lol.
And so Magnifico turns evil (Disney begins churning out soulless sequels and live action remakes). Yada yada, the King captures the star and traps it in his staff (Representing how Disney's basically suffocating its competitors) and all hope seems lost as the kingdom's subjects are... trapped? By the green magic thorns? Idk what was up with that. (The fans feeling hopeless at the current state of Disney).
Asha however, refuses to give up on Rosas. Magnifico may be evil now, but she loves Rosas, she grew up here and so did her loved ones. All her good memories were made here. (Even though Disney is the way it is now, it still created much of our childhoods and gave us core memories with our friends and family). So she sings to her fellow subjects and they sing back, allowing the star to escape through the power of ✨️friendship✨️. (Various major animated hits that break into mainstream media like the animated Spiderman movies and the Wild Robot), causing king magnifico to be defeated (Disney beginning to lose its stranglehold on the animation industry)
Yeah. I dunno, I wrote this at 1am lol. I know the movie's like 1yr old but I just thought of it
