I had time to join one (1) community before tumblr decided my device is too old for communities. Now I would really like to quit that community because it’s full of porn bots but Tumblr crashes when I try to do so.

Using tumblr on an old, unsupported device has pros and cons. On the one hand, I don’t get updates and things break. On the other, I don’t get updates that break things.

Wow ok so actually my boss was just making up extra rules and passing them off as company policy. No one else was struggling because their bosses are not doing that.

My work put in a bunch of new accounting rules at once, knowing full well that some of them contradict each other and others don’t cover more than the most basic cases. So I’ve got these numbers that don’t add up and I know at least some of em must be fudged, but I don’t know which ones I’m allowed to fudge and my boss keeps dodging my questions.

I’ve never really felt the need to get checked out for neurodivergence because it’s never held me back in life. But being unable to navigate these new social rules, when everyone else seems to just roll with it, got me thinking for the first time there’s something wrong with me. Puts a new spin on autism/adhd rates rocketing up - how many of the social rules around being a kid these days are the equivalent of my fudged-up spreadsheet?

I think we actually agree that the hypothetical doctor is misusing the hypothetical study. You’re focusing on how the study itself could be wrong about why there are worse outcomes. I’m saying even if the study was statistically correct, applying it to a real-life person could lead to a worse outcome. A vicious cycle!

The thing I’m leery about is dumping all of these different mistakes under the label “medical neglect”, since that brings to mind a genuinely lazy, neglectful doctor like in the OP. While sometimes a doctor could have a fat patient’s best interests at heart but just be really bad at statistics, and we should be able to spot and correct them when that happens.

Hey did y'all ever think about that if doctors blame all fat people's medical issues on them being too fat without proper investigation and then feel justified in neglecting their medical concerns, then statistically more fat people WILL develop and potentially die from serious health issues and it might not actually be because of the fat when everything comes down to it

why is landlord white even a thing. why must apartments become Boring as Hell between occupants. i have never gotten the keys to a place and thought "oh thank goodness the walls are all a dingy off-white! I'm terribly allergic to colors." the big complex I was in a while back had a demonstration unit with beautiful blue walls ... and then your lease says "NO PAINTING, CHUMP" and of course you can paint it back at the end but you're also a little worried about the property manager who's so anal about appearances she emailed you to get rid of the dead houseplant on your third floor balcony because it was unsightly. What are you doing inspecting my plant health with binoculars, Ginger?
