modern cain is a collector. he uses it as a way to relive the past and tries to find items from eras where he was lucky enough to have a companion with him.

basically two seconds after he kills damien, he realizes damien was actually Not trying to kill him and did Not fall for dolores and her wiles like he did and now he gets to live with that

starting a month after damien's untimely demise cain starts to hallucinate him and his voice, pretty much every time he's alone. these hallucinations are auditory, visual, and tactile

the way his i know everything works relates to science, history, art, music, etc. it also makes him proficient at learning languages, music, and different art mediums

he has a rather grumpy disposition. comes with killing ur twin and being almost 1,000 years old

by the year 1550, he becomes rather wealthy. towards the modern day, he chooses to donate most of the money he earns

cain and damien's parents assume they both died on their journey and never got to learn the truth. this haunts cain for the rest of his life

he has a hard time letting people in as he struggles to deal with the fact that they'll get to spend their lives with him but he cannot do the same. few people have broken this barrier for him, but when they do, he tries his best to protect and preserve their memories
