They also taught me that life isn’t easy but that doesn’t give me an accused to blame life or others for my actions, just have to stuck it up and look on the bright side because everything happens for a reason. Those reasons have a purpose, we all have a purpose in life it’s only up to you what you want to do with that. Life isn’t meant to be easy but it doesn’t give you a reason to hate or doubt yourself or others spreading love, positivity is the best way to cure anything. You can’t give love if you don’t love yourself first. With the usage of makeup it just makes me enchance my natural beauty and improve on my self love towards myself. It's an expression of my own creativity and love towards makeup. <3

“An Unforgettable Recipe”
Since I was about three years old, my family and I would always go to visit my grandma during the summer and holidays when my brother and I would have a break from school. My grandma lives in Michoacán, Mexico in a family bakery in a neighborhood surrounded by other family members such as aunts, uncles, and cousins. I adulate on visiting Michoacán, Mexico because I would reunite with my mom side of the family, in particular, I would reunify with my grandmother Martha who I adore so dearly and who is my best friend in the whole wide world. Reunifying with my family makes me feel closer to my culture, in terms with the lifestyle and food.
My grandma would always have me since I was five years old, she would always have me in the kitchen with her helping her with breakfast, lunch and dinner. The first time I learned to cook was when I was about eight years old and one of the most special person who taught me to cook my favorite food plate is my grandma. To this day I remember when my family and I went to my grandma’s bakery which was her house in December of 2008. When arriving to her house my family and I knew where to find her she was always in the kitchen cooking or in the bakery baking. My grandma loves to cook and bake because it tied in with her motherly role of cooking for the household and baking for her and my grandpa's business. Everytime when my family and I visited my grandparents, my grandma would always make my favorite food plate which is Red Enchiladas. Red Enchiladas have always been my favorite food I love the taste of the red chili with the soft carrots and potatoes even, the smell it would give off when my grandma would be prepare them brings back so many memories in the kitchen with my grandma. On day after my eighth birthday I finally asked my grandma “if she can show me how to cook my favorite food plate Red Enchiladas” she said “Of course she would love to show me how to make enchiladas”. My grandma told me the ingredients and I haven’t forgotten this recipe it’s and unforgettable recipe through a bond that I have with my grandma.
Recipe
Red Chile Michoacan Enchiladas
Ingredients
- Corn tortillas
- Pack of Chile California (dry)
- 6-8 Potatoes
- 7-9 Carrots
- Cooking Oil
- Pack of Queso Fresco
- Lettuce
- Sour Cream
- Garlic Salt
- Black Ground Pepper
- ¼ of an onion
- 2 garlic cloves
Directions:
1. First get a big pot that will fit the potatoes and carrots, make sure to wash and peel the vegetables before, then fill the pot with water covering the vegetables. Put that pot on the stove, set it on high, boil these vegetables for around 45 minutes to and hour until you can poke a knife or fork through the vegetables to see if they are nice and soft.
2. While the potatoes and carrots are boiling, get a small pot fill it with water up to the middle, then put it on the stove. Carefully take out the Chile of California chilies out of bag and place all onto the top. Let them boil for about a good 20 minutes until the dry chilies become soft.
3. When the chilies are nice and soft you will put them into a blender. Before putting the into the blender make sure you take off the little stem of the chiles. When all your chilies are in the blender fill the blender with water up to half way then add the ¼ onion, and the 2 garlic cloves. After you add that blend until its a smooth liquid consistency.
4. Once it reaches liquid consistency take another pot put around ¼ of cooking oil to the pot let it heat up. Then get a stainer and pour the chile sauce onto to the pot. You would want to be careful with this because you don’t want to get any seeds in your sauce. Once that done just let that sauce come to a boil and turn off the heat.
5. After chile sauce you want to cut your lettuce like little strips, place the cut up lettuce into a bowl of water.
6. Now get your Queso Fresco and a deep bowl, you are going to crumble up the queso into little pieces. Keep in mind this is messy so watch out. After all the queso is crumbled up wash your hands.
7. Once you check on your carrots and potatoes and they are nice and soft, you will need a strainer to remove the water from the vegetables, be cautious with this step they are very hot. Once they are stained get your cutting board and a knife and cut the carrots and potatoes into little pieces and put into a big bowl.
8. Once you are done cutting up the carrots and potatoes you will need a pan preferably a large skillet. Put ¼ of cooking oil onto the large skillet and then place the cut up carrots and potatoes. Let them heat up for about 3 minutes on medium heat then you will want to get a Waffle head Masher and start mashing the carrots and potatoes together. Once they are combined together add your garlic salt and black grounded pepper. Stir all together, let it cook for 10 minutes, stir continuously.
9. Then you would get a small skillet put a little amount of cooking oil let the pan heat up. Then you will get your corn tortilla and cook them for about 2 minute per side.
10. After you cook your tortilla you will dunk it into the your chile sauce, take it out and add about a spoon full of the potatoes and carrots onto the edge of the tortilla and roll it. Repeat this process until you have the desire amount of enchiladas .
11. If you think the red chile sauce dried onto the tortilla you can always add more chile sauce before adding your toppings. Then when serving you will add your toppings first the lettuce then sprinkle on the queso fresco and top it off with dialup of sour cream.
12. Finally enjoy your plate of Red Chile Michoacán Enchiladas.

Autobiography
Coming from a family who mother had to take the role of a mother and father raising her two children on her own until someone came along take on the role of a father figure to them. My brother and I through our lives have been through a journey fulled of adventures with ups and downs but yet we always loved our parents dearly. I am eighteen years old, I was born on January 26, 2000 in Michoacan, Morelia. My mother and stepfather who I consider as my father wanted to go to America for a better life due to the educational purposes for their children. I can not thank my parents for everything they have sacrificed for my bother and I. I am proud to be a Mexican-American both my parents are from Mexico. My brother and I successfully graduated from High School even through our struggles within that time period. I am first generation to attend a four-year university from my family. Throughout memories I have had the best memories with my father because to me he shaped me into the person I am today. The way of a man to take on the responsibilities of two children when they aren’t biologically his and step up to the plate has inspired me to be who I am today. My identity has been based off always putting my education first, being a student means more to me than holding down a job because in our society higher education is more beneficial then having a job for a while. With education it has open so many doors of responsibilities due to also household chores my parents will always tells me to do for my own discipline. I am more then a student I love going on hikes just something about nature and at peace of hiking puts you at a stress free environment that sometimes we forget to admire nature that what it provides us. Makeup to me has also been a big part of my identity because I wasn’t afraid to be that girl who will show up to school with a full face of makeup because I saw makeup of a way of knowledge and creativity. It’s like improving your imperfections and make them more beautiful. Others see it as a different way but not me because of the open mind I have. My family and my puppy Milo Jojo are my motivators of happiness and to strive through college to have a better future and benefits within that knowledge. My puppy means the absolute everything to me having a dog as your best friend is the best feeling because they will comfort you, love you unconditionally because you give then unconditional love and happiness to them. I am currently at California State Northridge University working on my bachelors in my major Political Science . My plans for the feature is to first finish with my bachelors and then work in my masters to join the force of FBI to investigate behavioral analysis of why criminals do what they do.

It was a bit difficult to find a song that reflects my struggles through life that defines my identity as I see it now but I have finally found one by Beyoncé. I was truly amazed and in love with this song “Pretty Hurts” by Beyoncé because it makes me reflect through my own struggles in life at a young age which is part of my identity. This song is about how perfection and the impossible standard of beauty set in society is corrupting the nation. We all try so hard to reach that singular, narrow-minded idea of “perfection” despite the fact that beauty itself is subjective. Meaning how society so, often than not the prettiness results in only focusing more on the outside appearance than the inside character of a person. Women and men physical characteristics have to be through a certain size, hair color, skin color, and luxury things to boost your appearance. Being physically beautiful or pretty hurts especially when good character is lacking since real pretty comes from the inside of a person. Such physically pretty ones are most likely not necessarily, experience more heartbreak, divorce, personal problems than the ones that are pretty from the inside they deal with similar situation but they put their appearance over anything or anyone.
This song reflects on my identity because my aspiration in life is to be genuinely happy with my self and no one else. In high school I use to care so much of how people judge me based on my appearance, clothes even how I did my makeup but mostly how my body looked. I remember one of my freshman teacher volunteering me up for a concept of “How Others See You As” standing in front of twenty eight students a mic of my own friends, and class peers pointing out all my imperfections and one person said “it doesn’t matter if your smart, and maybe if you lose weight I’ll consider you hot I’ll date you”. When the song said “you're a pretty girl what's in your head it doesn't matter”, these lyrics mean that women shouldn’t care about education like if education is going to take you anywhere in life but being consider pretty having great appearance should only matter to a woman. I can relate to this because I have been told this by many guys education isn’t going to take me anywhere but my body and looks will. The lyrics of this song when it says “Pretty hurts Shine the light on whatever's worse” is basically how we look or judge a person through their worse meaning their flaws. When has someone ever congratulated you on an achievement or have they just said “you could of have done better or it wasn’t enough”. That was me, through caring what people thought of me I put it in my mind that I’m not good enough or will I so just try harder and harder. This mindset of caring so much of other people’s judgments on me wasn’t good for me. When the song says “Tryna fix something but you can't fix what you can't see” this lyric just broke me down because why am I trying to fix myself when there’s nothing to fix and I’m just miserable. At that moment I realized my self worth with accepting my own insecurities, imperfections, flaws, you can fix something that’s not broken but you can improve it. Through my struggles with my own self, and just accepting that I am beautiful as I am just gave me peace and happiness in my life. This song is a reflection of my struggles through a dark time but something so dark can be something so uplifting by accepting yourself. The hardest battles are with yourself because it’s an endless battle but at the end it can lead you to become stronger than ever. True beauty is within you being happy with your imperfections. Love yourself through thick and thin.<3

Article #2: “Makeup as Self Expression” by Kaitlyn Castano
http://fosterstyle.com/makeup-as-self-expression/
Summary:
In the article “Makeup as Self Expression” by Kaitlyn Castano, main purpose is to send out a message of the beauty of self expression and how makeup for many is a way to do so. Makeup is not a tool meant to make an ugly thing beautiful, it's meant only to magnify the beauty that already exists within the woman and man. This article starts off on how in today’s society women are constantly shamed for what is consider beautiful and what is not. Basically with this shaming creates the concept of makeup is what the key to what makes a woman or man appealing. People have this idea that makeup is an aid in hiding your facial structure, acne, blemishes, and even unique birthmarks a person has. Periodically, this degrades the idea of the existence of a women’s and men’s natural beauty and just putting some sort of mask to hide your imperfections. On the other hand, makeup has been very well known for the many virtues of person blossoming, and it is a form of art a pathway of one’s creativity and improving talent. The usage makeup has evolved throughout the years, it has come a long way from copper and lead ore the Egyptians use to make cosmetics. In ancient times cosmetics consisted of fruit berries as a lip stain, burnt matches as a type of dark eye shadow, a child’s urine as a foundation, they even believed swallowing oxblood to fix their blemishes and imperfections. This shows how women went to the extremes of putting their health at risks to enhance their beauty. To now we take precautions for makeup we buy meaning drugstore affordable brands to high end products which is a more expensive. You can always use affordable brands to create a beauty look. Makeup has come a long way from women putting their health at risk to the Egyptians days and it has change the idea of beauty for women and men in the process to help you feel good in your own skin. Makeup is the paint, our face the canvas and we are the artists. It can be either a routine or something done for a special occasion, but it is definitely a worldwide beauty enhancer and the key to a woman or man confidence.
Analysis:
In this article “Makeup as Self Expression” written by Kaitlyn Castano, show the message of beauty of self expression and how makeup is a tool not meant to make an ugly thing beautiful but to magnify the beauty that already exists within all of us. When Kaitlyn Castanon said “Makeup is the paint, our face the canvas and we are the artists.” means that our face is the canvas of natural beauty and our makeup are enhancements to improve our beauty. For an artist it take practice and practice you aren’t just good right off the start it just take time and practice. For the equipment used in makeup today consists of brush sets with specific uses for each brushes such as foundation, eyeshadow palettes, contour kits, highlighters, lip stains, sticks, glosses and much more. In makeup there are terms like smokey eye, pops of color and natural looks. All of these types of looks of smokey eye, pops of colors, and natural look are the usage of different warm and cool tones, color shades light to dark, pigments that are well blended enough diminished the ability to tell the gradient of each color you have placed of creating allusion. Being A makeup artist it has brought out my creativity as person of how makeup is not limited because you can create many different looks, and different ways on how to apply it. It has taught me that one look can be created in multiple ways to get the same results. Being an artist your creativity is endless and just enjoyable for the artist and canvas because of the before to the after look. AS a makeup artist it has brought me so much confidence within myself in my own skin on how I can improve my imperfections and creating something flawless. Bring confidence to myself I wanted to share that feeling of happiness and confidence to my canvas meaning as my clients to show how to enhance their beauty and their facial expression on how they can’t believe that they can look and feel so beautiful brings me joy and happiness to my makeup work. When Kaitlyn Castano said, “It’s meant to help you feel good in your own skin… It can be either a routine or something done for a special occasion, but it is definitely a worldwide beauty enhancer and the key to a girl’s confidence.”, this means even if you do your makeup everyday or only for special occasions your going to have confidence with feeling beautiful within your skin. I agree with this statement because makeup is a confidence booster it makes you feel good and feel happy with your inner and outer beauty. With the confidence you can see a dramatic change of a women’s or men’s self esteem to feeling self conscience about yourself to feeling genuinely beautiful. For the makeup artist to the clients feel the confidence and feel the happiness, creating a positive mindset of just being happy and not talking down a person they are most likely to even boost other’s to express their beauty rather if thats with or without makeup.

Article #1: “Never Give Up” by Jack Handey
https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2016/10/17/never-give-up
Summary:
In the article “Never Give Up” by Jack Handey, the main purpose of this article is to show that young people should never give up, to keep on trying by pushing through and to struggle a little bit. You should never give up even if you don’t know what’s your goal or what you want to achieve. This article starts by the general idea if you held your head up high with your swing your elbows, more people will recognize those characteristics as a person who never gives up. To be a person who never gives up and keeps going no matter what comes with discourage because some people will try to demoralize you by trying to drag you down with them due to many reasons they may see you as a threat or just simply jealous of your determination. No matter how many people try to drag you down keep doing what you’re doing don’t worry about them, don’t try to follow them be the one who they want follow. When reaching the following stages of success, you should congratulate yourself with those successes that you have accomplished along the way. Also keep in mind that your not there yet, we still need twenty four more stages. Keep pushing, scraping, crawling, and begging were other points that this article pointed out. To achieve your dreams you can not give up. The need of working hard, going through struggles and fighting through those struggles until you achieve it. No matter how bad you fail, learn from those mistakes and see what you could do better. Going through failures doesn’t mean should back down or just stop trying is not the mindset Jack Handey wants his readers to have, he wants to keep on trying, keep on pushing, scraping, crawling, and begging on a path on achieving your dreams or goals.
Analysis:
In the article “Never Give Up” by Jack Handey, he said that to “Keep trying and pushing and struggling, even if you don’t know what your goal is or why you would want to achieve it.’ which means that it is very difficult, it isn’t easy to achieve your goals that easy, if you want to achieve your goal you need to work hard, keep on trying, pushing, scraping, crawling, and begging you will overcome anything you wanted to do or be. Essentially when parents have children, they tell their children at very young age to never give up, if you fail get back up and keep on trying. My parents have always told me since I was four years to “never give up, if I fall on my ass to get back up and try again”, with this mindset is a big part of identity as a student throughout my life because if I got a bad test score or I didn’t understand a concept I will keep trying to understand and keep studying because it is a beneficial factor to me to get an education to have a better life. To even reach my goal I have a long way to go but I can overcome it and I will. Since my parents always told me to keep on trying and never give up no matter, gave me the mindset of that with working hard no matter what I do as a job or education file I wanted to study if I work hard and have education it will award me later on in my life. Even though struggles will come along the way and some people will try to influence me to do something else or tell me otherwise, I have to remember that it is going to benefit me not them so I rather be the influencer to them to know that I can and will achieve my goal.

Identity box
INSIDE OF BOX IS HOW OTHER SEE ME:
~ A Mexican Flag is in the center of the box because when people see me they just think I'm a Mexican American which I am.
~ The spicy, little, red pepper is for when people see my skin color they think she’s obviously she Mexican, she can eat spicy food. Which is totally wrong accusation because I don’t like spicy food, just can’t handle it I can’t even eat hot Cheetos.
~ The picture of a skinny drawing is for when people see me as this super skinny girl who probably watches what she eats, maintains her weight or just doesn’t eat at all. This false because I may look skinny but I eat all the time if it’s not in one sitting of a meal, I’ll be eat every hour most likely. I have this relationship with food that is so unhealthily.
~ The little swimmer is for when people seen my skin color it’s this golden tan so the jump to conclusion that I’m a swimmer. Which they aren’t wrong because I love to swim anything that involves with water I love doing.
~ The picture of the little girl covering her face represent that people think I’m shy, that I don't talk at all but that’s not the case because I’m only shy with strangers. Once you know me I have this wild, crazy personality that I am a handful to deal with at times.
OUTSIDE OF THE BOX IS HOW I SEE MYSELF:
~ Picture of my family is that I am family oriented I love my family, I have a special bond with my mother, brother and father. Mostly have this inseparable bond with my father because he’s like my other half, since he took the role of being my father when I am not biologically his, he step up to the plate since my biological father walked out on me.
~ Through my brother’s irresponsible actions brought my nephew Aiden Xavier Andrade, to my world. Since he was born he has ben like my own child, I would feed, play, shower him. Basically he was my own child because the bad that I have with him he can always make me smile or laugh anytime of the day. Mostly he's my best friend because he has been there to hug me and comfort me in my hardest times. Since he can’t pronounce my name he calls me “Nannie” but he only calls me that no one else.
~ Picture of my puppy Milo who is six month old Pit bull blue nose, who I rescued him from a horrible home and basically paid with my boyfriend $300 to take him from his owner to make give him a better life. For me to make this decision in my life I was senior barely graduated from High School going into college I just knew it was the right decision for him. Since I got him my own life has been just the best he the sweetest little puppy In the world which gives me happiness because I make him happy. He’s my baby who basically does everything with me, he loves watching movies, and sleeping with me every night.
~ Criminal Mind T.V series got me addicted to profiling serial killers and also gave me the idea of choosing my major of Political Science because I want to be a Federal Bureau of Investigation profiler of a Behavioral Analysis Unit. I have binge watches all 12 seasons of Criminal Minds and also I have learn so many things from it as well.
~ Boba I have been so obsessed with Thai Tea boba, everyone one of my friends know I live, breath for bob just something that is just love so much which is a crazy obsession.
~Superman Cape is the love I had for Six Flags Magic Mountain I love the adrenaline rush that comes with it even though I am terrified of heights I love roller coasters. It signifies that I love taking risks in my life.
~ Mini Mouse Rose Gold Ears and the little Tiger keychain are for the love I have for Disneyland, that I am always a kid no matter what my age is I love cartoons and I love the amusement park of how it takes me back to my memories as a child.
~ Marathon Medals are for the bond I have with my dad is that we do races together throughout the year because is a form of a bond that we love to have outdoor adventures. Even though I’ll companies the whole race I’ll get it done no matter what because I am determined.
~ Sash for Secretary: I have been in ASB for the whole 4 years of my High School career, I use to be the one who would help my advisor to organized events, class accounts, and later became her TA for English class to give her extra help with things. So mostly everyone in my ASB class knew me as “the Secretary”.
~ Through ASB we have these little families and mostly all the friends I was really close to were underclassmen because they saw me as their “Grandma” who would take them to get food, take them to amusement parks and be their comfort person. They thought me as their grandma because I never lecture them about their problems, actions or choices I just them advice. Also hey saw me as their grandma because some way or another ant experiences they had faced mostly I faced them to because I have gone through a lot of experiences at a young age.
~ Graduation Cap “ I is Smart” with the drawing of Sponge Bob this cap symbolizes that I am not always serious. I’ll admit I am serious about my education I think of it as a professional job so I don't mix my personal with professional because then I don’t want to be emotional that get’s in the way of my education. Therefore I know when to be personal and wen to be professional. Also with the drawing I did for my nephew since he had this crazy obsession with Sponge Bob and I was teaching him to say “ I am smart” he said “ I is smart”, without my nephew I won’t have made through my high school years because they were the hardest years for me emotional, physical and metal.
~ Picture with my boyfriend Long Diep is just he brings so much joy and happiness to my life, who also accepts my flaws , and encourages me to do the right thing for me if that’s with my education or the love I have for makeup. He has been my best friend and my boyfriend through a lot of struggles I have faced he has been my rock.
~ Makeup: I love makeup not just from buying it but just creating different looks if that’s neutrals or pops of color just have these passion for makeup because it let’s me be more creative with my eyeshadow. Also I don’t see makeup a sort of hiding my imperfections I see it as improving and enhancing my own beauty with it by creating what I called gorgeous looks. With makeup I just believe the creative has no limits.
