Thanks for everything!
Hi everyone,
Been with the project for quite a while, loved my time here and I adored the interactions I had with you, whenever I could do so. I'm sorry if things have gone really quiet, understandably I have started losing steam over the years.
Things are kicking off bad in life, so I gotta concentrate on that front with a much more intense focus. I know a lot of you feel the same way about how life is going in certain-if not all- regions of the world, for perhaps the same or different reasons.
The fandom will always be close to my heart, I'll be watching from afar. Still need to buy the most recent books though, especially because of the overlap of details and characters!
Best to us all, and best to the Project and its members. Stay safe.
-Teal

Monthly Roundup [May 1st, 2025]
re-watched the 1st FNAF Movie, I always love a refresher before the next part comes out
Hey everyone, and welcome to the roundup for this month.
For all the new folks seeing one of our posts for the first time:
Hello, this is Teal from this project, dedicated to creating real-life robots of the animatronics of the Five Nights At Freddy’s franchise.
Here, we post our short little monthly update in regards to the progress of our robot(s). Enjoy!
ROBOT!
April 8 – New optical sensors have been added for the ligaments, which eliminated the electrical noise and interference for tracking their movements. Ligament update video of its current state.
April 23 – Artificial Muscle Fabricator v1
May 1 – Vertebrae? Yes! 3D vertebrae with fake cartilage in the form of silicone sealant between the “bones”. If anything, it can make someone creepy come to life inside a suit..
That’s all for this monthly roundup. If you like what you see in these posts, or what you see from us in general, tell your friends!
Thank you so much, and we hope to see you all next month!

March 31st — Sensor Ligaments, made from silicone and a flat strip of metal, where the metal bending is registered as a change in angle! This technique can be used anywhere, especially between 3D printed pieces of bone, especially prove to be very useful for joints such as the elbows and knees. We also have some photos of the in-development Muscle Fabricator!

NO UPDATE - Monthly Roundup [March 1st, 2025]
Hi everyone!
Unfortunately this month we do not have any updates or progress made on Freddy I'm afraid, as NewVegas has been out of country for deployment, and was unable to continue their work due to it.
He will be arriving back home very soon though, so when he feels refreshed to pick things back up, we'll be sure to follow up with some news!
Thank you so much for your continued support. :)

January 31st — Boss did some experiments for the skeleton of the animatronic, based off of 3D scans of the human body, and he started off with the spine, including intervertebral discs, and they glow! Here's an album of everything compiled together!
That’s all for this monthly roundup. Boss will be away for this month, so likely won't be anything until March, but if you like what you see in these posts, or what you see from us in general, tell your friends!

December 29th — Video showing one of the two components of the Artificial Muscle, where running voltage through them makes these wires contract. There is a delay showing on the video regarding the contraction actually starting, as NewVegas has added a MOFSET chip (showing on right hand side), that would activate the voltage late, but the actual contraction without this forced delay is near instantaneous!
That’s all for this monthly roundup. If you like what you see in these posts, or what you see from us in general, tell your friends!

Monthly Roundup [Dec 1st, 2024] Steel Wool being real secretive about Secret of the Mimic, huh
Hey everyone, and welcome to the Reddit roundup for this month.
For all the new folks seeing one of our posts for the first time:
Hello, this is Teal from this project, dedicated to creating real-life robots of the animatronics of the Five Nights At Freddy’s franchise.
Here, we post our short little monthly update in regards to the progress of our robot(s). Enjoy!
-
ROBOT!
- Nov. 27 – An update regarding a bit of a pace changer - making the robots silent, without having to rely on extra parts? Muscle wires!
NewVegas1001 talks about things a bit further within the link, as there is a bit of an explanation needed to go along with what is seen there.
Nov. 30 – So, you have heard the word "actuator" being thrown around a few times, while reading these posts.. Okay, maybe more than just a few times. But, what is an actuator? And what the heck that weird nylon rope in the last video is for, exactly?
I've started building a bit of a basics wiki for the weird terms and even more weirdly named parts that are talked about. If you have any suggestions for an edit, let me know! I'd like to keep the text simple and understandable for everyone, that would be the only requirement here. Perhaps a few pictures linked in would also help, I suppose?
-
That’s all for this monthly roundup. If you like what you see in these posts, or what you see from us in general, tell your friends!
- Thank you so much, and we hope to see you all next month!

August 1st — Video cuts of an actuator doing position control, using ramped velocity.
August 5th — Trying out Multi-filament printing (where multiple colors are used during one printing session), testing it on a Freddy head model.
August 8th — Printing complete! It's not perfect, but looks nice nonetheless.
August 31st — Fingers, made by NewVegas’ brother! Video showing the motion of one as well. -

Hi folks,
Noting that from now on, the PayPal link will be removed from the roundup posts, as we found it just feels a little too pushy and takes away from the nature of the post in general. Hugs to all! - Teal

ROBOT!
(This one is a single date indeed, but it has a good bit of pictures and media!)
July 31 – Neat little show of the parts that make up a Wolf actuator! V1.1 is in white, and V1.0 is black colored.
Here is part 2, with two videos giving a better idea on how they function.
These designs are also downloadable via Github, [1], [2], Printables, and Thingieverse! (in fact, somebody has actually created one already) -
That’s all for this monthly roundup. If you like what you see in these posts, or what you see from us in general, tell your friends and donate Here if you'd like to! Every little penny helps the robot.

Project '87 Reddit Roundup [July 1st, 2024]
August looks to be an interesting month
For all the new folks seeing one of our posts for the first time:
Hello, this is Dylan from this project, dedicated to creating real-life robots of the animatronics of the Five Nights At Freddy’s franchise.
Here, we post our short little monthly update in regards to the progress of our robot(s). Enjoy!
ROBOT!
June 23rd – Showing off the leg's "Capstan" / Cable drive(diagram for those who need it). It is a rope-driven actuator/drive that allows for moving the leg(s) without a need for a motor specifically at the joint. The two drums on the side assist the Capstan drive itself, making the leg lighter weight, and reduce the effect of inertia the limb experiences.
June 23rd – Here are some more images, and a video that shows the Capstan drive in action! You might also spot that the drive is using a specific yellow cord called a Kevlar Line, which is very durable, and specialized for friction and so highly resistant to heat. It also has a low stretch mark, which makes it the perfect fit for a drive like this, that calls for tightness in a space that moves or rotates constantly.
June 27th – Assembling another one of the Capstan/cable drives for other joints and/or limbs. And here is the leg as well, creepily standing on its own on the first picture.
June 29th – Video and pictures of the leg being tethered up, testing it for load capacity, any weird behaviour or jerking around.
That’s all for this monthly roundup. If you like what you see in these posts, or what you see from us in general, tell your friends and donate Here if you can. Every little penny helps the robot. Hope to see you all at the end of the month!

Reddit Roundup [June 1st, 2024]
Funny thing, The Joy of Creation was also my favourite fan game. I agree with fellow FNAF fans, the official, new game, is looking phenomenal as well and I can't wait!

ROBOT!
-
May 12 – Easy-to-customise toe and parts for the foot, so that the design can be interchangeable, while the endoskeleton can remain the same or similar.
May 15 – Assembled foot with the example toes, 3rd picture showing the side-view of the ankle as well - NewVegas has mentioned that the toes are easy to switch between characters, such as the same design foot getting replacement talons for Chica instead!
May 19 – Footage and pictures showing off the bounciness and sturdiness of the leg, at the end of the video, the toes also going into the in-air base position.
May 22 – Assembling the current leg - Boss has expressed concerns over the drive moving the knee and the leg, and mentioned he will reiterate that section of it. He also mentioned that he will create a design for Freddy that is more akin to the animatronic’s classic design from FNAF 1!
May 27 – The reiterated drive portion of the knee, showing a new Belt Drive system instead of the previous model.

Jan. 9 – The cable-driven part of the lower leg that has been recently in the making! Technically works like a tendon, this is the thing responsible for moving the ankle joint for now, while the knee actuator is in the works.
Jan. 23 – Taking inspiration from Tesla’s motors, here is the latest test result of the freshly modified leg.
Jan. 25 – In only 60mm motor travel, NewVegas got the knee actuator to work in full motion.
Jan. 27 – Fully functional knee, working on 10 Amps, 24 Volts! Here are some awesome videos that show it off. On some of the videos you can see two big blocks wrapped in Flex tape, those are 2kg’s worth of weights put onto it for the test to show the strength of the joint.
