A second seminar on SWM was held in Brgy. KNL from 2 to 4 p.m. at the seminar room within the barangay hall. It was conducted in a similar fashion as the first seminar: including a pre-test, short activity, and video presentation while the speaker for the seminar was also Carlos Guerrero (leader).
A total of 9 street sweepers attended the seminar from the expected 25 since the others were not able to arrive. Snacks and drinks were served to them after the presentation.

A seminar on SWM was conducted with the street sweepers. Slight change of plans since the seminar started at 2:30 p.m. and the merienda was changed to Pan de Coco, Spanish bread, and Coke.
A total of 17 people (including the barangay captain) attended and were given a pre-test in order to gauge their knowledge of SWM and a short activity at the end asking what they can do in their own way and as street sweepers in the community.
A short video about urban gardening was played at the end of the lecture before serving "merienda" prepared for them. The whole seminar lasted about 1 hour, ending at around 3:30 p.m.

About the Community
The community we have chosen is Brgy. U.P. Campus located in Diliman, Quezon city, specifically the street sweepers working there.
According to the barangay captain, the street sweepers do not practice proper waste segregation since they dispose all of the waste into one sack, mixing in biodegradable, non-biodegradable, and residual wastes all together even though the number of sacks available are more than enough to segregate the different types of waste.
In terms of the implementation of SWM policies enforced by the barangay officials, the barangay captain confirms that they do practice SWM by collecting biodegradable wastes everyday and collecting recyclable wastes every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday by the garbage trucks. They also have their own urban gardening project allowing them to grow their own produce by composting and aimed at discouraging the act of littering around the area.
Thus, it has come to our attention that in order to improve the SWM of Brgy. U.P. Campus, we prioritized the problem of waste segregation among the street sweepers since it is their job not only to collect and remove waste from the streets but also dispose them properly by segregating. The barangay captain believes that by educating the street sweepers about SWM, they would act as role models to the residents who do not practice SWM and therefore inspire them to do the same.
We also expanded our community and include the street sweepers of Brgy. KNL (Krus na Ligas) because they might have a similar problem as well and so we could compare the results of our project for both communities.
