So I'm just going to post things I like. That's what you do with a tumblr, right? I showed this video to a friend and described why I liked it:

Watching John Darnielle perform for people, you see an incredible joy and love of making music, performing music. I think that's what what I really liked the first time [I saw a video of him], and what caught my attention: that at times he can't control his expressions or movements. It made me feel happy, that I'm witnessing someone do something they truly love. That first song, "Up The Wolves", is my favorite because of that emotion. And when it builds to its climax at 2:37, oh man: "Scope out every angle of unfair advantage." The studio version just isn't the same. The second song was just alright to me. The third song, "You Were Cool", is absolutely beautiful, those lyrics...: "It's good to be young, but let's not kid ourselves, it's better to pass on through those years and come out on the other side with our hearts still beating, having stared down demons, come back breathing." And that line: "I hope the people who did you wrong have trouble sleeping at night." Right in the feels. I felt that song man, that told a story. Then at 10:12, the kid yelling out "Cubs in Five!", how cute was that? And who couldn't love that NPR reference at 10:40? The Mountain Goats are awesome. I'd love to see them live.
